A thread for perverted t3apots to post their lewds, get critiques and ask for advice.

All software welcome.

If you can't take critiques then stay on Tumblr. 4chan is not your hugbox. That said keep critiques constructive.

Ignore Mrs Mooth and other trolls. Do not engage them they will just shit all over the thread. Report their shitposts and let the mods deal with them.

You're going to run into all sorts of problems rigging those hands and getting the thumbs to bend properly. The thumb does not come out of the side of the hand inline with the fingers. It comes out the bottom of the hand and off on an angle.

It's 1975. You're a graphics researcher in the exciting new field of computer 3D graphics at University of Utah. You make a simple mathematical model of your wife's favourite teapot as a test object. What has science done?

Google kept taking me to Pinterest when I search for things so I figured I might as well register and get the full functionality without userscripts that sort of work.

What's wrong with references? Disney animators used to use references. It's not as if there's some magic 2D to 3D tracing device.
>>
File: alice in wonderland.jpg (119 KB, 1568x1280)

>>1751836
More than that, oldschool animators at Disney went right ahead and rotoscoped most character animation. They would literally film a live-action movie and then give it to the animators to draw over.
>>
>>1751806
and how do you bring that into sfm as a model wiht all its textures? SFM only supports dmx or smd extensions
>>
>>1751869
You download Blender Source Tools and export it as smd.

>>
>>1752205

That one's cute.
>>
>>1751874
Unfortunately its not as simple as you make it sound. Exporting it as smd is not enough. You need to make sure all the textures are applied properly and with the way daz exports textures, even when you use milkshape or vtfedit, i still have not figured out how to apply the textures to model as vtf file. And then you also have to make sure to convert it into mdl. Ugh. If it were that simple we would have seen a youtube or some good internet tutorial on it already.

>>1752150
Because SFM compared to other 3d animation softwares like 3ddmax, maya etc is easier to learn. Granted blender is good too, But i want to make animations fast with less time without having to go through endless conversions, rigging etc.
>>
>>1752696
but my man, you're already going through conversions trying to get them into sfm
>>
>>1752696
Sounds like it would be easier to just keep it in Daz studio then and just animate it with ready made lewd aniblocks or bvh files from renderotica.
>>
>>1751139
horrifying. i love it.
>>
Is it possible to change the body porpoortions of a model inside sfm? For example, if i want to make the boobs and the butt of a model bigger inside sfm itself, is that possible? Or do i have export the model out of sfm, modify it in blender and reimport it back into sfm the only way?

This website takes sketches and cleans them up with a variable level of simplification. Its effectiveness varies from this saved me a lot of time to you've ruined all I've worked for.

I thought it might be neat to combine with freestyle and other edge-detection render methods to create an inkier drawn look, but my quick attempts are so bad they're not even worth posting.

Hey fellas, I'm working on a 3D model of Mrs. Turner and I don't really have a solid front / side view so my current idea is trace the shape of the closest I have to each standard view and then try to align that to the angle I interpret from another view and trace another angle and so on.

Any better ideas?

I'm not really at the point where I can just make a thing without essentially tracing. I need a left-brain method.

Grab a side screenshot of some girl from total drama or danny's mom from dany phantom. They should be more or less like timmys mom. From there keep in mind that the view will almost never match up; so only use one view (preferably the front one) as the guide, and the others as references of how the body should look.

Bumping with this trash fire.

I tried to approximate the angle she's facing since she's always looking at this angle and never looks forward as far as I can tell and I planned on using that angle to create geometry that matches the angled view while being symmetrical and lining up the facial features to be centered straight on the face while lined up in the angled view and it looks really goofy.

This isn't the way to do this.

I'm going to try drawing wireframes over screenshots and see if that helps me break it down more than blocking it out and matching perceived angles.

If you're not really sure what Blender's Skin modifier is good for, check out this 1 minute video https://youtu.be/GnoZ_hJGclg

And it turns out you can resize the generate sphere / pipe around the vertices by "resizing" the vertices in edit mode.

This is a pathetic question, but where exactly are the files for SFM models supposed to go? Not, "Just open the folder and dump it in your usermod directory, It Just Works" because it doesn't, which specific files to I need to place in which specific folders?

Because I've downloaded certain model makers files only to end up with a compressed file with more layers of folder directories than a zip bomb from 1995. mdl, vtf, etc, is there a specific folder structure or placement? Do I have to keep the directory structure from the zip or can I simplify it so it's not such a damn mess?

Sorry for the stupid newbie questions, but I can't find straight answers to this anywhere.
>>
>>1763000
We're not really into SFM here, but your model archive normally contains folders called materials, models and sometimes scripts. These are merged with the similarly named folders in the usermod folder of the sfm game. If the top-level of the archive doesn't have these folder names, they are probably in the top-level folder that you see.

Try extracting the archive to a temporary folder, then simply drag the materials, models and scripts folders to the usermod folder. You may have warnings about files being overwritten, but if it's the usermod folder, you should be okay overwriting.

Sometimes you will see a file with the extension .py. These files need to be in usermod\scripts\sfm\animset; they are ik rigs.

Yeah, they have been for quite a while, it's just that nobody does it because:
bone weights don't work, so you need to re-skin the mesh.
skeletons aren't extractable.
textures are in a proprietary format and need to be converted to DX10 .DDS images, which are a bitch to work with so I then convert them to PNG. This fucks up normal maps, removing the blue channel, so I need to overlay the "normal map blue" color over the image to fix it.
and to top it all off, there are a number of textures that I simply don't know what they are, like this one for example. It's not a normal map.
>>
>>1763210
Some of the folders are recursive, with another folder labeled model in the materials folder or vice versa. There's also several folders inside those folders, and several more splits on the way down to the actual files.

Which specific files should go into which folders, aside from the scripts? mdl, vtx, etc?

You learn how those characters are rigged and what mechanisms the platform uses for handling creases/bulges, then adjust those mechanisms (weight mapping/joint controlled morphs) to work with instead of against your bloated cow morphs. Rigging is based on parameters baked into the figure including premade morphs. Introduce externally made hyper fetish morphs without adjusting the rigging and you're gambling with how tight bends get handled.

It's more work but it pays off in the long run by not having to retouch your renders (or in evo's case, never bothering with retouching).

Just follow those instructions. When you find the folders called materials, models and scripts, those are the ones you move into usermod. You shouldn't need to be concerned with the structure below that level. Just dump those folders into usermod and Windows will handle the rest.

The folders aren't recursive, those are just different folders that have the same name.

Chibi Daz model was made by a filthy gaijin so it's shitty western art and thus damned to /aco/ with all the other shitty western art.

Although honestly the distinction between /d/ and /aco/ has gotten so blurred they're practically the same board again. /d/aboos wanted to purge their board of everything filthy gaijin so /aco/ was created then there was a couple of months where mods fanatically purged /d/ of all shitty western art and purged /aco/ of all superior azn art.

Now half the threads on /d/ contain artwork by western artists and half the threads on /aco/ contain artwork by asian artists. It was stupid and futile to even try to catagorize things like that in the first place since most shitty western art now a days is influenced by superior azn art anyway. But let's face it, 90% of 4chan is made up of pure undiluted autism and they'll spend all day going through a salt shaker and organizing the salt grains by shape and volume into arbitrary categories just because they can't deal with chaotic nature of the universe around them.

Look at how your cartoon hair compares to this.

Notice how this model has flow. It's not just a sculptris sphere that's been pulled in random directions. There's separate flow to the bangs, there's separate flow to the tails. There are defined groups of strands that give the model weight and definition. If you saw this hair model without the figure you would instantly know it's supposed to be hair because of the flow and definition yet it still retains a cartoon aesthetic.

Your hair without the model it sits atop wouldn't look like hair, it would just be some sort of weird alien blob creature.

But it's still defined. It still has separate strand groupings that give it flow and definition. It might be a single piece of geometry but it doesn't LOOK like a single piece of geometry because of the flow and definition.

And your ears. Ears are actually not very complex. There's a lobe, the tragus, an outer rim curve and an inner Y curve. Yours is some sort of lizard frill stuck on the side of the head. You've added needless lumps and bumps to it.

The bolt on ear geometry matters for more than just the front view and look just as bad if not worse from the side. If you're going to do it learn to do it right.

Don't pinch the geometry of the curves. The rim and inner geometry of the ear is curved, especially the rim which is almost like a curved cylinder. Don't just say "oh I used a reference" if you're not actually going to use the reference. You need to start using a discerning eye. As long as you're unable to see what you're doing wrong you're never going to improve.

If you don't want your shit just getting deleted from these threads then stop taking critiques personally and start actually working on improving. You're a noob. Recognize that and listen when people who know more than you tell you what you're doing wrong. You continue with this know-it-all attutide and you're never going to get better and there's no point for you to post in these /3/ Lewd General threads if you're just going to keep posting the same shit.

>>

Then your eye is not discerning enough. Most noobs know they're doing shit but they haven't learned to discern enough to know why their work is shit. The just know it looks wrong but haven't learned enough to know why it looks wrong. You're the opposite. You look at a reference and you look at your work and think they look the same.

You're like a singer who is completely tone-deaf but thinks they're singing on key and get offended and passive aggressive when everyone tells them they're flat. I've been pointing out to you what's wrong and you still refuse to see it. This is why people think you're trolling. It could be you just lack the ability to see, your brain just can't make the connections because it doesn't know enough to make the connections. But most of all when he screws up and you show him what he's doing wrong he actually acknowledges "yeah I fucked that up" and strives to improve it without getting pissy about it or just ignoring it and saying he sees nothing wrong.

He's here to get shit done and get better at it and I can respect that.

Mrs. Mooth just shows up with his sculptris blobs and flat out ignores any attempts to improve his work. He's hoping he'll find an audience for his blobs and has no intention on acknowledging what he's doing wrong or where he needs to improve. He just shitposts and expects to get a pass because "muh art".

The entire purpose of these threads is for 3D artists to be able to get assistance and critiques on things that would get them banned on /3/ because for some stupid reason /3/ is a blue board.

If you just want to make a thread for generic 3D porn then make a thread for generic 3D porn but this is a thread for creators who want to get better. >>

but thats when you want to animate. When you want to make a sculpture, you t pose it first, add as many details as you want and then transpose master it(of course, you can do the sculpting with the model already in pose, but thats not relevant).

Exporting maps and doing retopo isnt worth it when you only want to make something that wont get animated and you dont want to lose image quality in the process.
>>
>>1770856
>and you dont want to lose image quality
TM's fine if you wish to pretend limb muscles don't change during bends.

Listen, I get that Zbrush people jerk each other off for posting clay renders of squatting orcs with pained expressions but rigging exists for a reason. This tool is a crutch for people piss terrified of leaving their comfort zone and learning Maya or similar. Don't carry their water.
>>
>>1770894
rigging exists for animation.
>>
>>1770894
What the fuck are you talking about.
>riggibg exists for a reason.
Yes, to animate.

Rigging does work, but not for sculpture. Also, any artist worth its salt is going to work on the model after TMing it because it will obviously have the kinds of mistakes that you said(but thats why you save the subdivisions). Finally you cant compare maya and similars to zbrush. Its apples and oranges and both serve different purposes. Just look at the zbrush renders that are on artstation; you simply cannot pump that out on maya or similars without them shitting themselves out just by the sheer number of polygons and details.
>>
>>1769017

I'm glad you like it but I don't know that I'll ever get around to making the clothing I make for that figure for Genesis. I'm just off the Genesis treadmill. You build up a library of stuff for the figure and then Daz just releases a new Genesis figure and you've either got to reconvert all your older stuff for the newer figure or accept that all the stuff you made isn't going to work properly on the new figure (all custom rigging and weightmaps will be fucked). I just got sick of supporting figures that are going to be dead in a year anyway.

Plus, what little rendering I do is never photo-realistic. I just find that's a rabbit hole I don't feel like going down. I wanted a cute chibi figure for NPR renders and there were no good free ones and all the paid ones either look like complete crap or look like some sort of Bratz doll. I wanted something with hand textured faces that's in an anime style so since there was nothing like that that I liked I just made my own and shared it on ShareCG. I still haven't done anything with the figure although I've been toying with an idea for a Youtube series. Mostly I just like making clothes for it.

There's a morph for Genesis 1 that I made to reshape Genesis items so I could fit them to my chibi figure and some people have been using it as a psuedo-clone to fit the clothes I make for my figure to Genesis 1. It has some problems around the area where the shoulders meet the neck and gloves and footwear are a write-off. But if anyone wants to make clones of Lolo Hai for other figures they more than have my permission. I basically release all my stuff as public domain and don't care what people do with it. Some people have been taking my clothing items and reworking them for Second Life and selling them and I'm completely cool with that. More power to them. I'm just having fun making cute outfits and rendering the odd dick-girl.
>>
>>1770909

No. Rigging exists for animation and posing.

No wonder all off Mrs. Mooth's bends look like shit on his models.
>>
>>1769849

Pity, because Daz Hair always ends up ruining otherwise great work. Usually when I have long hair models on Daz I end up rigging them so I can get more pose control than just the morphs alone give.

Go into the geometry editor and click on a strand and expand the selection out and make face groups for them then rig to the face groups. I usually rig to bundles of strands based on where the hair flows.

That'll help fix some of the clipping problems that always tend to pop up when you have long hair, like that clipping on the boob you've got in that picture.

You can use deformers too to fix the clipping but I find rigging, though more work produces better results in the long run.

I seriously wish Daz would get dynamic hair or integrate a better hair system than the crappy low poly, opacity map based conforming hair they use now. Pisses me off whenever I see a great picture ruined by Daz's shitty hair.

>>
>>1771764

Mrs Mooth's "sculpts" are of such low detail he'd actually benefit from having them rigged and posed properly, not that it would make any meaningful difference considering they're garbage to begin with.
>>
>>1772006

Everything is blobs. Your hair is a blob with no texture, flow or definition. Nothing about it suggests it is hair. It just looks like a blob of play-doh. Likewise your cloth work is terrible, nothing about it suggests it is cloth. It just looks like a blob of clay. It lacks detail where it should have it and the detailing it does have needs to be much more subtle.

With the exception of your knees which surprisingly are not too bad on this model your anatomy is just all over the place. Your arms have blobs and bumps and flat spaces and divots where they shouldn't. Your lips look like they were a just pasted on. You have the philtrum running from under the nostrils when it should run from the nasal septum your abs run the wrong direction and your digits just look like sausages, you've got creases where there should be none and your bends are terrible.

You really need to focus on just making one good model right now. Get a base mesh with proper anatomy and work from it. Before you start spamming these threads with your next Grotesque work on improving the first one.
>>
>>1761025

Have you tried doing a render with no images plugged into the maps and a default shader to see if it's not something on the model. Then plug the images into the default shader if that's good to see if it's some artifact in the images.

Seriously, I want to know what/where "Imperium" is, I'd love to know what of my stuff is being posted around.

Mercy's in-game hair is mostly defined via normal mapping and some specularity. The geometry is simple, but it uses baked-down detail from a high poly, more detailed mesh.

Working on porting the thicc character from Fortnite to Blender. Face bones are fucked all to hell so I'm probably gonna try out doing faceposing via shapekeys rather than bones.

Cute character. Is the clothing mesh part of the figure or can you make her nekkid?

That's going in my reaction folder.

It's part of the figure, but I should be able to cobble together a naked body if I can get my drawing tablet working well enough for some texture painting.

File deleted.
Finished making a Japanese "bloomers" styled gym outfit. Uploaded it to ShareCG.

I always get a kick out of NPR renders in Iray because they look like those figurines that weebs jack off on.

I didn't it either a mod deleted it because they hate chibi animu figures or it was a database error that lost it.

This figure is available on ShareCG too. I was inspired buy the Chain Chomp from Nintendo games when I made it. Sort of wanted to make a creepier version of the Chain Chomp that was anthropomorphised.

Oh and with that figure and the imp figure posted at the top of the thread the genitals are part of the figure. I was experimenting with a uni-genital design so that in its default state the figure has male genitals but they morph into female genitals. The penis becomes the clitoris, the testicles become the labia. It was an interesting design and I had contemplated at one point making a geograft set of Genesis genitals that would do the same thing. Makes for interesting animation possibilities for people who are into transformation porn.

Anyone have any examples of sculpted toon style pubic hair? It looks a little unsettling when you have a toon NPR render where the hair is toon styles and the pubes are realistic.

i'd just look for general short tufts of hair, maybe shaved styles or curly or black hair done in zbrush. i'm looking right now and i don't see anything like that yet but i did find something that i think is worth posting.

i don't use zbrush but i think i'd start by extruding a patch for the hair and either leave it at that or do pic related.

hope that helps.

Can't use subd in substance painter. No point in bumping the geometry for (basic) texturing.

Bringing in a camera model into a texturing software is a waste of time and resources.
That being said, it's kinda weird to work with these highly reflective surfaces while the real-time and Iray are vastly different in reflective quality.
>>
>>1781307
> Camera digitally removed from picture leaving unusual black area at center
Maybe you should learn what a chromed object looks like in a photo before pulling one out of your anus
>>
>>1781488
But if people who take pictures of chrome buttplus in real life edit the camera out, then it'd be truer to real life to not feature the camera on the reflection.

therein lies the paradox
