Damn how hot is the rice, then? But I guess that makes sense, I always wondered why they'd just crack a fresh egg over rice like that. Still seems like the texture would be a bit too slimy.

Raw Egg is perfectly safe to eat unless it's got some shitty chemically-stripped shell. That, and the rice is hot enough that it slight cooks it anyways.

I disagree completely.

The curry, okonomiyaki and fried foods are great. But dons, ramen and sushi are overhyped, it's just bland stuff that relies on adding a ton of extra sauces to make somewhat tasty.

And then you have disgusting stuff like natto.

Ramen in general is nothing special. I like Japanese food, myself, but one thing that Japanese like to exaggerate in anime isn't how the food looks, but the volume. Their portions are fucking tiny. I'm a SEANigger and I tell you, it's thrice the price for a third the content.
>>

There's a couple pretty good ramen places near-ish where I live. I've also liked every recipe I've tried making at home.
I need to get a decent fucking rice cooker, though. Every time I get one of those Aroma/B&D cookers that shit breaks in about 5-9 months every goddamn time.

Mostly bland, nothing is ever sweet or spicy to the extent that I'm accustom. Super spicy that you probably can't eat it to Japanese would be something like Tabasco sauce levels of heat. Those episodes where japanese curry looks like lava are a joke because the hottest japanese curry is still milder than the most mild Thai curry. Their sweets are about the extent of eating an ice cream cone with no ice cream or cheerios. Also Japanese tend to have bad teeth so they avoid eating sweet things. In Japan it's more custom to eat natural things that have strong flavors than adding a lot of seasoning. What seasonings they do add to things are very minor and usually just used to enhance the flavor of what the main dish is. It's like how in america if you get a teriyaki steak you expect it to taste strongly of teriyaki. In japan it's simply given a quick dip in sauce and grilled leaving no strong flavor from the sauce.

In Japan and other develpped countries it's actually perfectly safe to eat raw eggs. The misconception that raw eggs are inherently dangerious comes up every thread about this because many 4chan users live in non-developed countries where fresh raw egges are dangerous and give salmonella.

There's a lot of healthy Italian food, the dieta mediterranea might be a meme, but it's a meme due to many good reasons.
And truth to be told, the trick is simply not abusing things, a little bit of something "bad" isn't going to kill you, but even something as healthy as parmesan is bad for you if you eat loads of it.
If we had to worry about unhealthy things then we'd have to avoid 90% of what we're capable to digest, we wouldn't drink milk after young age and so on.
Eating something as unhealthy as the Lardo di Colonnata once in a blue moon won't suddenly give you cancer and it's also delicious, fresh peas can be used to do a shitload of things and are quite healthy as long as you don't try to sustain yourself on those, it's all about balance, just like when you make a dish and you do not want to drown everything in olive oil.
