>TTGL was only good before kamina died!
Why do faggots say this?
TTGL only became interesting after Simon man'd the fuck up and started thinking on his own.
The second half of TTGL was MUCH more interesting than the boring cartoon shit the first half was.
What? I don't self insert as Simon, I just think he became an interesting character in the long run.
If anything, its the faggots self inserting with Kamina.
Rossiu a shit and did everything wrong.
I've never understood why people talk down on post-timeskip TTGL. The last third of the show was by far the most engaging and had the most on the line.
I actually hated the whole thing, and I wish that I could wipe it from my memory, leaving only the depths of my hatred for it so that I would never make the mistake of watching it again.
Have you watched the films tho? They flesh him out a little more in them, which makes his actions more..morally right?
They don't. I've heard heard this before this post.
Incorrect. TTGL was always good, starting from episode 1. Except for that bath house episode.
*I've never heard
>Love interest handed to Simon in a box
>Antispiral rehashing Genome's "protecting the spirals from a power greater than themselves" motive
Both halves were shit.
But that was such a fun tease though.
The only episode which is universally hated is episode 4.
WHEN I WAS
A YOUNG BOY
TOOK ME INTO THE CITY
TO SEE A BLACK PARADE
Fuck it, I like it.
Yeah its actually not that bad of an amv.
how can one person be so wrong?
Yes, Rossiu was responsible for the boring part of the second half.
But I was MUCH more frustrated at Simon's little emo phase after Kamina died. Why does nobody bring that up?
There was a TTGL amv with Don't stop me now by queen on youtube that was pretty good. but its removed now3.
The time skip left the series with an awkward air, moreover, the major characters became tremendously boring.
All of the massive mech escalation near the conclusion felt rather repetitive as well.
the entire thing felt like an over delayed climax with little momentum that culminated in a punishingly lengthy finish.
>the major characters became tremendously boring.
But thats wrong, retard. If anything, they became more interesting. Especially Rossiu's betrayal and how they handled it.
at least it only took Simon an episode or two to man up and get in the fucking robot unlike another beta gainax MC
The pacing in the second half was a bit off. It dragged a little when it first started, then accelerated too quickly at the end.
gurren lagann as a whole was great and is both a parody of 3 decades of mecha anime and a grand coming of age story with perfectly periodically intersecting lines of character development
i thought gurren lagann was good 7 years ago. i think it's a master piece now.
>Why does nobody bring that up?
Because it was a necessary arc and it had an amazing payoff.
kamina was the only reason to watch that show
no a kamina no a care
Ration people don't govern their taste with attitudes they got rid of after high school.
The second half of the show was the biggest downgrade I've ever seen.
Imaishi should stop being a director.
I mean, you are quite literally wrong. There isn't a single thing about the second half that's worse than the first half.
anyone else realize simon literally grew more than a foot?
He suddenly got huge during the final fight
spiral energy in large quantities does that
Remember when Gurren Lagann threads on /a/ were good?
It hurts my heart to have to hide every single TTGL thread.
While hating it seems like a bit much, TTGL felt like some sort of mecha shounen parody that forgot it was a parody, and consequently was flat the whole way through. With barely-present character development that could hardly hope to stand against a powerlevel asspull at the end of very nearly every episode, I feel like TTGL is little more than the KLK of seven years.
Anyone who thinks especially highly of either simply isn't that bright.
