Just finished Zankyou No Terror. What is /a/'s thoughts on this? I really enjoyed it, but there was a lot that wasn't explained sadly.
Shit anime that tries too hard to be dark and edgy.
All I will ever need in life is Twelve, who is most definitely still alive.
Nicely animated scenes here and there
Mediocre to shit everything else
When's OST 2 anyway? I've been antsy about it.
Me too. I didn't really like it that much, though: the animation stuck out as particularly well done but not much else. I think it's a shame, really, because it got off to such a great start - and some part of me feels like they just threw away the potential and momentum they built up in the beginning. It's just an "above average" show for me, maybe even the definition of it.
Lisa /a/ shit
The garbage writing and what feels like a complete lack of content ruined something that had potential.
Dissapointment of the season. Great production values and premise wasted on shit plot and characters. I was praising it as AOTY after 2 episodes, but it got worst every episode, especially when Five appeared.
watch carefully the scene where five dies, she disappears before the explotion
Watanabe is a hack who made one good show (Champloo doesn't count because it is a rip off of Bebop). If you compare his body of work to a true artist like Yuasa the difference is like night and day.
I loved it. Whoever most people of /a/ hates it for retarded reasons, such as japs trying to speak english, and the hacking scene done with random screenshots. Thats basically all of their motives they hide when saying horrible writing, dissapointing, etc.
Minor details that you dont even care about. Well except for elitist fags, then its the end of the world.
The Ferris wheel scene distracted me from the terrible writing for a couple minutes.
Are you that desperate for the second coming of bebop, /co/cksucker? Since when is elitism bad in any way?
He thinks the second coming of Bebop already happened with Shit Dandy, so that's kind of irrelevant here.
he's right, pic related
setup for season 2 (though it didn't sell very well) or lazy animation? you decide
Fucking and pleb are two overrated words, but still not as overrated as Watanabe.
No, just posting my opinion, like everyone else. And im not from /co/, im stuck in /a/ forever, just like you
Started out alright but quickly went full retard. Twelve getting shot when he wasn't even holding the detonator was hilarious though.
I'd say lazy animation because it closed itself out pretty well with the atomic bomb explosion.
>Twelve getting shot when he wasn't even holding the detonator was hilarious though.
What are you talking about? No such thing ever happened.
It most definitely did happen.
We must've downloaded two different shows then, because no one died retardedly when I watched it, especially not Twelve.
All you need to know.
It would've been a lot better without Five, more backstory on the guys and more situations involving Shibazaki.
Reminder that looking directly at a nuclear explosion can result in temporary blindness or severe burns to the retina.
It's why they should've kissed instead.
I will never watch that video. Never, ever.
I'm pretty sure Twelve converted me to homosexuality but I'm not sure.
Five was unecessary. It would've done better with less episodes.
Even America knows
Bros before hos
- the part of the plot regarding nine and twelve's past, it was an interesting take on the savant phenomenon
- character development (lisa and shibazaki needed more time)
- characters (just five, she was absolutely useless)
- voice acting (granted this is only when they were speaking Engrish)
- if you wanted to be anal/autistic, the EMP from the HANE would've directly killed many people relying on electronic equipment to survive (people in a coma state, people wearing pacemakers, etc.) and it could've also killed/injured some people if there were subsequent riots/robberies/chaos due to electricity lines being destroyed (this is arguable since Japan isn't known for having a lot of niggers unlike New Orleans)
If you are close enough that it can damage your eyes it's going to damage a lot more that just your eyes.
And to add 2 more points
- there were a few occasional scenes which brought out the feels heavily, like the motorbike scene with twelve and lisa
- the whole shit with america, it just made five even worse as a character, that shit was so unbelievable
I understood where Twelve was going.
Falling in love makes you stupid, yes, but it's a part of growing up. It wasn't a means of not caring about Nine anymore (he did help Nine on the freeway when Five was chasing after him), but he grew too attached to Lisa to the point where he felt the need to throw away their plans to save her if needed. I'm sure after all the bullshit was over and done with he wanted to live a normal life with Lisa, and possibly with Nine too. What happened then was all a part of nature, the pain of growing out of your adolescence, etc.
>- voice acting
Only with the Engrish. Twelve's VA in the Ferris wheel scene particularly was fantastic and the rest of the VAs in general were great too.
>(granted this is only when they were speaking Engrish)

Needs some OVA tp explain unexplained things
Yeah, I know. I just wanted to put my extra two cents on it.
I'd like a prequel OVA of Nine and Twelve doing cute terrorist things, or Shibazaki doing cute detective things, or how about both?
Great animation, great music, terrible story.
First episode was good, then it went to shit, then it picked up a bit towards the end but the actual ending sucked dick.
The story wasn't for us, its satire for bullshit jap government right now. Its like a subtle message to the jap gov to rise and overthrow murica before something like nine or twelve happens.
Pretty much this. This anime COULD have been AOTY.
>before something like nine or twelve happens.
But I want something like Twelve to happen because Twelve is a miracle of the universe.
Five was useless and took away time that could have been spent on the preexisting characters. Lisa was too but I could still see her having a purpose if developed further. It didn't help that the series stuck to terrorist act of the week until about half way.
Very good animation and visuals, shitty story and a bunch of useless characters.
Five was sexy though
I also feels like Lisa's character didn't develop at all. She still was the bullied high school girl whose mom freaked out about everything she did, but didn't do anything when she disappeared
If Five didn't exist I bet Lisa could've had the chance to develop into a better character. Like she could've been useless at first because that's cute and shit I guess, but then she would become a much stronger and all around better person.
>country where its illegal to depict mass killings
>doing a terrorist show
Also this is why Penguinbear isn't happening.
I think she was pretty useless all around, she only was there as a interest for 12.
Wait. Its really illegal to depict mass killings, but I can fap to lolita? Nice world we live in.
I'm pretty sure 12 is the only character in this whole show that got any semblance of development. Plus I didn't mind the scenes with him and Lisa, I thought they were nice.
>uploading to pomf
not using 4chan for webm
4chan supports audio webms right?
Oh by far she was probably even less developed than Five and her only purpose was to give the main characters conflict. I only really see her potential for the fact she did interact with the main two and having that outside conflict could have been good, but unfortunately she was uninteresting.
Are you new?
I really do think if this show had more episodes and more time to explain shit as well as develop all characters, ZnT could've been much better.
No. I just didn't know.
I still say it wasted a lot of its episodes but I do also think some more episodes would have been better. The whole experiment deal really interested me and I was really hoping they'd go further into it.
more episodes just on Lisa would of been great.
Maybe my hatred for the last episode was due to my own personal bias because I wanted Twelve to live. They made it seem like he could've been the last of the 26 children standing, the embodiment of 'hope' or 'VON'. Or perhaps it was just the way they killed him. It felt so anticlimactic as if the writers just stopped caring and threw in whatever they could to call it an "ending".
Your opinion is shit and you should feel shit. Never post again.
>but there was a lot that wasn't explained sadly.
You are supposed to figure it out yourself
>the whole shit with america
You mean how they let Five doing all that shit without ordering her to stop?
They were desesperate to get that nuclear bomb and they must have prefered to let someone who knew Nine and Twelve do what she wanted as long as she could caught them.
And the show is pretty anti-Conspiracious as it's representation the governments (both Japan and America) as entities following the 'The end justifies the means" creed.
I found the show meh at first, then i rewatched it with someone else who explained to me the obscure points and guessed what was the point of the show and i realized the show was actually deep in the sense that it's not easy to figure out the meaning of it if you just focus on "Will Nine and twelve suceed?"
all you need to know is that the show was so shitty america had to get involved and end it themselves.god bless america
Didn't fully understand it myself, but it was pretty good
How was it deep, exactly?
Well the anime is not straightforward about what it talks about, most people think it talks aout terrorism when it talk about the power and what the power will do to preserve itself. Everything is talked about and answre in the 2 last episodes throught shibazaki when investiagte the Athena project.
>Not killing anyone
Yeah I get the message they were trying to go for. But the way it was presented + the character development was really poorly done
Clusterfuck in it's themes/narrative that it was suppose to present.
That's exactly why I hate this anime. There are exactly two episodes of any importance, at the very end, and the previous ten episodes are completely pointless and meandering.
The show doesn't gradually reveal a conspiracy the way V for Vendetta did (which this show obviously took inspiration from, the movie version at least), it throws it in your face in the first episode with flashbacks of the kids escaping the Evil Facility, and then spends the next 10 episodes showing two shitty protagonists raging at the gub'ment for ruining their childhood, and then in the last two episodes the show is like, "Let me infodump everything about the conspiracy to you in one boring monologue to Shibazaki by some old guy who knows everything because fuck actual investigation, that shit is hard to write, oh by the way HURR DURR the government is corrupt!!! Look at how corrupt the government is!" So the show takes 10 episodes to tell you something you already knew the whole time.
The theme of corrupt powers doing whatever it takes to hold on to their power is something that LotGH covered as well.
The difference is that this theme is pervasive and omnipresent in LotGH while in ZnT it is tacked on to the end like an afterthought. The execution of this show was horrible and just because it had a good idea at it's core when they were in the preliminary draft stage doesn't mean the final product is deep or intelligent.
>dark and edgy.
