Wouldn't a pedophile at a retirement home make sense? I mean, he is old n shit and has to wait for the kids to get near him
After ~20 episodes I found it quite boring and I'm used to watching slower paced series.
Hunter x Hunter? Moar like Hiatus x Hiatus! If I wanted to watch a generic Japanese kid's show that will never end, I'd just go watch Crayon Shin-chan.
one of the best, too good for /a/ shit
Big bad is overhyped. "Ooh the next Hitler" and shit.
All he does at the end is give away a few guns in a village.
You never fail me /a/.
Wait that show's still going on?
Dropped it at episode 21, read the manga some years after but wasn't impressed. Pretty boring overall, would much rather reread 20th century boys than touching Monster again.
Could have been GOAT if it didn't have so much filler. I counted maybe 15 episodes in which nothing substancial happens, no characters development, certainly no plot development and so on. It really drags on for no good reason other than reinforce the same traits of the same characters.
Also >>115332101 is very true and a major problem. Johann had potential but they spend too long hyping him and by the latter episodes, as much as it was well done, it can't help itself but feel underwhelming.
Overall had they kept it to about 50 episodes and trimmed the excess fat it would have been one of the best anime around. As it stands it is a 7.5 to an 8.
Disclaimer: I have only watched the anime.
The anime and the manga are exactly the same, so whatever you say about the anime applies to the manga as well
It's entertaining in the same way as a Stephen King novel, but nothing more than that.
Best anime I've watched. Granted I probably haven't watched as much anime as the average anime fan. The theme of this series was different too, I usually watch SOL, comedy or shounen.
By the way I don't understand why Johan would cry during this scene? I thought he lacked empathy altogether. Tears of joy at delicious suffering?

It's apparently overrated shit, but no one knows what it is, since overrated shit threads are the only thing it's ever used for.
I've seen a lot of anime, but I've also seen a lot of live action television and film, seen a lot of animation from other countries, read a lot of books (mostly classic works of literature), and so on, and I thought Monster was only OK. I wouldn't put it in the top 10 anime ever, but it's still better than the vast majority of anime.
it makes naruto and bleach look like masterpieces
Maybe Bleach, but certainly not Naruto
it drags on and on its an ok show with an interesting plot but it would have been much better if it was shorter and the pacing was speed up a bit
>my 2 cents
I like traps
I like anime
Darfur I love Monster.
In my top 5, I really enjoyed it. I could see why someone could find the pacing too slow at points though.
Terrible anime. Awful pacing, characters motivations are never clearly, things are constantly introduced that lead to nowhere, Nina is useless, Kinderheim was boring when every single character was from their, etc.
>characters motivations are never clearly
Only invalid complaint in this thread, this is your daily reminder that "x is never clearly explained" is not a flaw but an artistic decision.
I disagree. You can use that excuse for a few characters, but there are like two characters in the entire series that have a reasonable motivation for what they are doing. At that point it is just lazy/poor storytelling.
