How did /a/ feel about this?
I think it's incredibly good, in spite of being very niche and pretty slow.

Shimura's anime adaptations have always been very faithful to the manga and ended up mediocre because they don't translate well between the two mediums. The manga was great but the anime was just okay.
Too bad the manga's ending was rushed at the same time as her other work and KnJ for all those stupid "child protection" laws that the INP pushed through in Tokyo.

The Ishihara National Party really hates anime and manga, and have control of Tokyo, as governor of Tokyo he's pushed through a bunch of laws that have been detrimental to anime and manga, one that banned incest being shown in a positive light and a few others for the purpose of "protecting the children". Needless to say a lot of manga have abruptly ended, and a few major ones ended at the same time because of that bout when shimura-sensei dropped everything.

So you're saying I should read the manga?
I just love the fact that there's media about trans that neither bashes them nor puts them on a pedestal.

OKay, I think I've picked up a couple new manga.

It's great. But the anime is much better if you know the manga beforehand, since it does a poor job of introducing the characters.

Also, I don't think the manga ending feels all that rushed, it's an episodic story that could've went on longer but ending where it did was fine, at least for the main characters. The one thing where it was lacking was the side characters.

It's a good manga, and recently it went from "good" to great when the mangaka took a refreshingly realistic approach to some events.

So we never get to know what's up with Chi-chan? That's jank.
