Pick one. I don't care much for your weeaboo sentimentality, give me the one that is most entertaining for an American.
>Attack on Titan
>Highschool of the dead.
I have never seen any of the aforementioned before.
Boku no Pico
>No Boku no Pico on the list
Come on, just gimme the lowdown for somebody curious in the anime genre. I picked a few that looked scary, cuz Halloween.
Why not just watch them all? Except for elfen lied, that shit is better read.
Attack on Titan is the answer you are looking for.
I plan on it, I'd just like advice on a good place to start.
they're all great except highscool of the dead and elfen lied. These two are garbage.
Boku no Spooky
Uhm, that list isn't really cut out for westeners
You should try Boku no pico, it's made with the american audience in mind
Annie is the female titan
Why isn't it for westerners?
Hellsing is horror/shounen
Attack on Titan is shounen/gore
Ergo proxy I don't know shit about but IIRC it's regarded to be good.
Death Note is generally considered to be very very well received.
Elfen Lied mixes the horror and harem genres and isn't really that great (manga > novel in this case). author is a woman who has some crazy ideas. One character loves the MC simply because he convinced her it was okay to piss herself when she was nervous due to social anxiety
Highschool of the Dead mixes horror and harem genre's and is chock full of fanservice.
If you want an actually decent horror try Higurashi no Naku koro ni... or if you want one that's considerably less good try Another.
Boku no Psycho-Pass if you want a dystopian cyberpunk police anime. Would work pretty well as a western TV show in my opinion if it had a big enough budget.
that's a nice dollhouse you got their, but to answer your question, each of those are equally entertaining for an average American.
Attack on titan is boring, i guess westeners could watch that, but it's just not a good series
Death note has way too much fan service for someone new to anime to handle.
Ergo proxy is the same
the rest are just meme-tier recommendations, which are pretty much only popular because nerds like to talk about them on reddit
Boku no pico etc.
Attack on Titan and Death Note are the most popular among western audiences on your list but they are complete shit, watch them and if you like them don't come back to /a/
Ergo Proxy is the only good thing on that list.
Thank you Anon. Your words are well received and appreciated. Think I'll go with Hellsing ultimate as my first animu.
Horror anime general?
So can someone remind just why people love Attack on titan?
I never knew about the hype, i fucking dropped that shit at episode 12
turns out fucking everyone thinks it's some masterpiece, even the "I watched Dragon ball and cowboy beebee as a kid" crowd
>turns out fucking everyone thinks it's some masterpiece, even the "I watched Dragon ball and cowboy beebee as a kid" crowd
What are you talking about? That crowd is the only crowd who thinks it's a masterpiece.
Hellsing Ultimate is the only one that you could show to someone who has no interest in animation, but Attack on Titan is probably the most normalfag shit if that's what you're going for.
I'll watch Psycho-pass as well
by i insist on Pupa
Yeah i guess, it's the most vocal one too
Because it was well animated with an interesting premise, exciting characters and it wasn't afraid to ruthlessly murder its cast?
Oh, I like animation. I'm just giving anime a try. Haven't watched anything of the sort since Adult swim/Toonami in the early 2000s
If you want a /tg/ suggestion, I highly recommend Wakfu. The first season has a really compelling villain.
Hellsing Ultimate. Lots of action/gore, top notch artstyle/animation and nazis vampires.
There's a difference between "not afraid to kill off characters because it actually serves a purpose" and "let's kill off characters for shock value to trick the audience into thinking it's good".
>curious in the anime genre.
fuck off, you came to the wrong place
I'd recommend Psycho-Pass first. Use Commie's release assuming you download and have a proper player for it.
Killing off characters 'for shock value' can still be compelling, as it sets the tone and helps make the other characters special. "Another" is a bad example of killing off characters for shock value, AoT is a much better example.
Watch the Hellsing TV series, not Ultimate.
>it wasn't afraid to ruthlessly murder its cast
It never killed anyone of importance. Everyone who's died so far have been either side character whose names have only been mentioned once, or obvious death fodder.
Why are you such cancer? Can you fuck off?
No, fuck you. FUCK YOU.
>"Another" is a bad example of killing off characters for shock value
Those deaths were plot relevant, which is amazing because Another was utter shite.
all of psycho pass is on netflix I think and it's pretty good.
good music too
You have zero investment to the characters and the deaths are incredibly contrived. It's about as 'deep' as a Japanese final destination could be. The plot resolves itself, the main character isn't really the one who tries to figure shit out, stuff just happens and then you get to the end.
Elfen Lied and Highschool of the dead are tied for the worst shows on that list, so I recommend you watch either one.
Elfen lied stands out for its forced drama and "muh art". Watch if you want to feel like a patrician.
Highschool of the dead stands out for its lack of subtlety and very monotone characters. Almost as bad as some hollywood films in that regard. Watch this one if you want something that you will be able to get straight away.
Please don't come back again.
