What was the best arc?
Why do you think so? I enjoyed it, but I hated a lot of things about it.
fuck you all
Chimera Ant. Nothing can beat that awesome pacing
>Episode 111-117 cover 3 minutes in real time
>Why do you think so?
Best fight, best ending, best story, best villains.
What's the best fight?
Netero and Meruem
I think my expectations were too high for that one.
My favorites are Gon vs Hisoka from Heavens Arena, and Kurapika vs Uvogin. Killua's dad and grandpa fighting Chrollo was good too.
Dark Continent Expedition. Trust me, I'm from the future.
>Gon vs Hisoka
I liked Hisoka, but I didn't really care about Gon enough for that fight to make much of an impression outside Hisoka's reactions.
>Kurapika vs Uvogin
>Killua's dad and grandpa fighting Chrollo
Those would be up there. Honestly, my favorite "fight" would be dodgeball but that's not really a fight, so I wasn't going to count it, plus the rest of greed island was pretty lacking outside the Killua and Gon fights at the end.
>It will never happen
I almost forgot about the dodgeball episodes. If that counts as a fight then it's one of my favorites too.
I always liked the fights that required a lot of internal monologues and strategy.
Knuckle mentally raping Gon was the best fight.
That was probably one of the most boring episodes in the entire series
So is there still a hiatus after the hiatus just ended? Also heard the anime ended. Is it just holding off or are we gonna start back from episode 1 in 3 years?
Bisky a best.
>Is it just holding off or are we gonna start back from episode 1 in 3 years?
It wouldn't be holding off if it had material to adapt. Production is over. Another remake seems very unlikely and hardly needed, unless big budget which is just not happening.
>unless big budget which is just not happening.
I'm positive Togashi is one of the richest men on the planet since he probably only spends money on Dragon Quest and his Sailor Moon wife is raking in cash like no other.
the ones that didn't have both Gon and Killua
Battleship episode is the best episode.
Togashi would be stupid to put his money into making another adaptation.
I'm not the only one who loved the Hunter exam r-right?
The exam arc is the arc that received the most effort at adapting the source material. If you compare it to the manga it hardly feels like they reused it as a straight storyboard and the amount of animation is consistently high.
That was probably my favorite arc in the manga and both adaptions. York New was also great, but I preferred it most in 99. Hunter Exam is my #1.
Not even a contest.
Yorknew > Exam > Greed Island > Ant > Killua > Arena
What about Chairman?
I forgot about it.
Even though the pacing during the early parts was pretty awful, episodes 126, 131, and 135 are some of my favorite anime episodes. For me they're up there with code geass R2 25, and eva 19
I liked it.
Yorknew > Exam > Greed Island > Chairman > Ant > Zoldyck > Arena
Chimera Ant has some amazing moments, but for me it's overshadowed by the slow as fuck pacing, and the incessant narrator interruptions.
Not really. The best part of the arc for me was Netero, who became my favorite character.
As agonizing as the pacing was, I kind of liked the early parts for the feeling of the disaster slowly getting worse, and reaching global levels. It feels like a linear development of "oh fuck", like
Big chimera ants are born -> chimera ants made of humans -> chimera ants build huge nest -> chimera ants learn how to use guns -> chimera ants learn how to use nen -> royal guards are born -> king is born
that kinda thing
then after that was over komugi was brought in, and the komugi and king moments kept me interested enough until the actual invasion of the palace, which was great.
Also, I liked the narrator, it had a charm to it I think. I understand where you're coming from on that though, its probably a love it or hate it kind of thing
You just described exactly how i felt. I was scared shitless at first because the ants came literally out of fucking nowhere, and after Meruem was born Komugi and the hype for the invasion kept me interested.
I liked the first half. Then it lost me during the palace invasion when it takes like ten episodes for ten minutes to pass.
The narrator irritated me because throughout the series until he starts chiming in, the characters thoughts and actions were described through internal monologue, rather than a third party. He also says a lot of obvious things that just didn't need to be reiterated.
Also I agree Komugi is a good character. And she made me more invested in Meruem too.
I feel the opposite really, but I understand where you're coming from. Fair enough.
C-can't I just love all of them?
I want to fuck Kurapika-chan.
It might be worth reading the manga for the palace invasion arc. I read it about a month before watching the anime, and felt the manga was MUCH better in terms of pacing.
No. You have to pick a favorite.
