>Naruto manga ending November 4th
>Bleach's anime canned, kicking it's popularity in the balls
>One Piece is the only one still going
Now what's gonna be the big three for Shounen Jump?
Assassination Classroom, Haikyuu!! and Nisekoi.
there doesn't have to be a "big three"
one piece will do what one piece does
There is no Big Three anymore. There's One Piece, then there's everything else.
As far as Jump goes, anyway. Attack on Titan is retarded popular over there.
fuck, i'd rather have the old big 3
>There is no Big Three anymore. There's One Piece, then there's everything else.
What is it about One Piece that makes it so popular? I could never get into it. It appears to be a pretty stupid show even by shounen standards, the character design is infuriating and it's one of those shows that simply REFUSES to end. How many episodes does this show have? 600+ or something, right?
Huge marketing investment.Jump is pretty much spending millions and millions to market OP as the best shonen ever.
If Togashi gets his shit together HxH will replace Naruto.
That's it? Why did nobody catch on that there's far better shonen out there?
We all know this won't happen.
OP assassination classroom and some other shit
The big three is no more. There is no new Big Three.
The only reason why there are so many One Piece events is because of the popularity it build up over the year. Jump doesn't really invest (not if you're a first-timer at least. Remember One Piece is the author's first serialization). If you aren't popular within a year or if your tanks don't sell, you're out. Is it so hard to imagine people just like One Piece. Sure, it exploded a few years back, but the popularity was always there.
>all those images from 2006 will become irrelevant and obsolete after the end of Naruto and Bleach
Things are changing and I don't like it
He's wrong, though.
How long has the manga been on hiatus now?
Isn't Case Closed and Inuyasha still going?
It feels weird to have lived and experienced the "Big Three" and it is extremely difficult to imagine what comes next. It feels somewhat stale to be honest.
Having the big three alone was stale. I've always hated that title.
I imagine they're gonna be pushing whatever is most popular. AssClass and Shokugeki, I guess?
It's a simple story about a boy who goes on an adventure to become an infamous pirate and find a mysterious treasure.
In One Piece you get what you expect and it never disappoints.
We haven't had a "big three" in years. It's boards like /a/ that use it as if it's still relevant. Some idiots don't even know it's referring to jump series only.
Isn't that Toriko from what I was told here?
Yes, Case Closed is still on-going, but it will probably just going until the mangaka bored, and Inuyasha is already ending.
Isn't DCTP dead though?
>this shit taste
How long must we wait before we get another anime at the greatness of LoGH?
Let's get some Gintama in that shit. S4 WHEN?
Are you new, my friend?
No but nothing I've seen in the past 4 years has even come close to it.
>inb4 Code Geass
how people watched bleach after the first arc? it was so boring.....
I get it, but how the fuck can you drag that shit out for 600+ episodes and not lose steam? At this point you don't even need to try anymore, the franchise just sells itself.
>2nd part of Kaiji didn't even come close to LOGH
LOGH has its good parts but holy shit anon
>get his shit together
muh back pains
muh dragon quest
I stop watching Bleach when the focus was no longer on Rukia.
The first part didn't either, Kaiji is good but the pants on head retardedness of Kaiji is so stupid it hurts.
>I am not a millionaire, have enough to get all my friends out, better gamble it all for REASONS!
>One Piece is the author's first serialization
Jesus! One and done mah nigga.
Because it is one looong in-depth story.
They're going to remake Rurouni Kenshin again
Oda is good at world building. It's an exploration throughout the entire WORLD. A completely different one from the one we know. Most series have a wide world, but barely explore into it. There's so many island it's ridiculous, and it's supposed to be an adventure. Not "repel the forces of evil/destroy these bad guys" Compare Naruto, who has several villages, yet we STILL don't know much about them, compared to the average One piece island.
>and Inuyasha is already ending.
What are you talking about? Inuyasha ended a long time ago. And there was a talk that Detective Conan will end soon (just not with an specific date).
Looking back. Rurouni Kenshin reminds me of the Samurai Shodown/Warriors (and Sakura Taisen to an extent)
One Piece, Nisekoi, and Toriko
One Piece is really just the "big 1" though.
What seemed like random world of adventure is actually a well-thought out and connected world.
Seriously, while Naruto's world contradicts itself the more shit is pushed in, OP goes the opposite and makes it seem like it was all planned from the start.
The further you go into the story, the more it makes sense while giving birth to further questions, and the series makes you WANT to know more (and delivers).
Several times some random cover-page mini story has turned out to later be crucial to the plot. The author knows how to write.
I'm not finding a problem with this. I still view it as more adventure even if they add a plot to each island
Hopefully they get it right this time.
>implying Oda foreshadowed and planend all of that ten years ago
He just introduced random elements then and picked them up to integrate in his story now. Everything is foreshadowing and plotting in hindsight.
sports and romance can't be big three.
>muh back pains
His wife is a licensed pharmacist you would think she could get him some pills or something.
If that's the case he is still an absolute master at what he does. Many other writers completely fail and contradict stuff they've forgotten about.
Sorry, I should have phrased it better, I just answering that anon's question.
Does the big three have to be jump? If not, is fairy tail popular enough to take the reigns?
I thought his wife was the author of sailor moon
I tried to read Toriko but I just don't get what the hell is going on.
> What is it about One Piece that makes it so popular?
It's the story. It's got everything from humor to drama. And it never forgets it's roots. This manga will make you laugh at times and it will make you cry.
Even I thought the art was shitty at first and avoided it for a long time before finally reading it. It was a long read and it isn't over yet. I love it way more than bleach, naruto or any other manga out there.
Find some good time to waste and just read all of it. You will understand why One Piece is the best selling manga in Japan.
She made sailor moon after.
She is. And she's also a licensed pharmacist. Case in point, she's way more on top of her game than her husband is.
HOW MANY NEW EPISODES OF HUNTER X HUNTER WILL I GET IN MY LIFETIME?
>but how the fuck can you drag that shit out for 600+ episodes and not lose steam?
Because Oda is a master story teller. Don't judge until you actually read the manga. And don't give me that bullshit that you quit reading at 10 chapters. At least get to the end of Water 7 arc.
I think the era of big shonen animu that go on for n eternity is over.
Young kids are more interested in shit like attack on titan.
>she's way more on top of her game than her husband is.
>her hobbies consist of collecting luxury cars, gemstones bigger than your fist and fashion
>his hobbies consist of dragon quest 1-10
>mfw people raged over weather or not SnK was shonen or not
>the character design is infuriating
are we talking about the same manga? You could make spin-offs with something like 90% of One Piece characters.
Funny thing is, most of One Piece readers aren't young kids with shit taste. It's actually adults who have patience and understanding.
I thought it was just young kids that simply grew up with One Piece. It's been like 15 years, right?
Change is good
Really, any source of that?
If One Piece was shitty as Naruto and Bleach, most would have dropped it by now. Kids who grew up with Naruto and Bleach have all dropped those shitty series for better shit. Kids who grew up with One Piece still sticks with it.
Sunrise will take full control of anime industry
Toei can die in a fire
it's a joke to consider naruto or bleach in the same vein as one piece, it vastly outsells both of those series
I think he means the literal design of the character.
Artstyle and all that shit; just a guess.
CrossAnge will replace SnK
gimmie the big 3 everything else then
It does have to be WSJ
But Slam Dunk was part of the "Golden Age" of Jump, wasn't it ?
1. Find awesome food
2. Eat it
3. Get stronger
3.5. Put together a personal course menu
What's there to not get?
Can someone who actually follows this pleb shit let me know why the absolute worst one is still going? Is it because the author doesn't actually have a story to tell so he's just wasting everyone's time while the other two have reached a sensible point to conclude?
Shitty bait and probably gonna answer
>implying every answer you don't like is bait
babby's first troll
She mentions it in a bunch of her interviews.
Pic related is her and her porsche.
THE BIG THREE WAS A ONE TIME ONLY MARKETING NAME
HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SALES - NOT FOR A LONG TIME.
>it's a joke to consider naruto or bleach in the same vein as one piece, it vastly outsells both of those series
bleach and especially naruto were huge back in the day. I don't know the sales, but naruto was the clear #1 many, many years ago as far as I'm concerned, and at some point all of them were strong. it was right to call them Big 3 back then, but it's wrong today. There's only One Piece now.
How many years does One Piece have left? I'm allergic to reading ongoing manga.
How many are translated?
And fun adventure, seeing new world and new food.
That photo was old, she's still married Togashi right?
No end in sight. It could basically go on forever, depending on what he wants to do with it.
Shounen Dump must be wishing they didn't tell Isayama to piss off.
Will AoT has the same quality if it's in Jump? Maybe his manga will cancelled after 20-30 chapters.
Yeah, it must be really tiring swimming in giant pools of money all the time.
gintama is the future
I don't care if English isn't your first language, but holy shit, you sound like an illegal immigrant that still has his back wet.
Slam Dunk wasn't a power-up shonen
I'm surprised people are even still reading SnK, Since it went full politics its barely even the same manga.
I love a political story if done well but in SnK doesn't manage to pull it off.
At least Dragon Quest is cheap.
>implying magi wasn't part of the big 3
Magi sold more than naruto and bleach within the past year, it's obvious it will be part of the big 3.
The other will probably be haikyuu since it sold 10m manga as of recent (based fujoshi)
for years technically. this list only goes up to 2012. add like 6 chapters at most for 2013-2014
nigga that's a japan poll. That was probably based off of some kind of voting system that not everyone that reads it there can use. If I know one thing it's that underage spics love their one piece
"Big 3" is a title given to One Piece, Naruto and Bleach. Non other manga can't be part of the Big 3 since the name was designated for them alone.
but there can be a new big 3, no?
the manga industry doesn't care about other countries beside Japan
Are you fucking blind?
>that reading comprehension
>Naruto manga ending November 4th
I thought it was November 10th.
We get the Naruto a week earlier than the Japs. That said we would really get it on the 6th.
>At this point you don't even need to try anymore, the franchise just sells itself.
And despite that Oda actually keeps trying, that's why it's so good.
It's popular because after the part where you decided to stop trying (its almost universally the same area that people drop it) the story becomes absolutely incredible.
The problem with One Piece is that the author really takes his time, so it has a slow start and even the arcs will feel slow at times. But he's spent those hundreds of chapter building a WORLD on a HUGE scale.
There's so many GREAT characters that are never wasted. Events that happen in one arc have a significant effect on the rest of the world that you won't fully understand until the crew gets to those areas. And for a long shonen manga the plot is pretty fucking complex and free of plotholes.
Seriously, if you catch up you'll start to wonder how one man can have such a wild imagination even IF you don't like it.
TL;DR The author built a true living breathing WORLD for a manga
Inuyasha's been over for years.
One Punch Man
Don't call me a fanboy, but you know that's bullshit.
I won't doubt that its possible for some points in the story but there are clear elements and characters that he built up meticulously before ever revealing them and you know it
Damn, Takeuchi has some tastes.
2-3 years ago he said we were at the halfway point
After working like a slave 24/7 for five years straight on Sailor Moon and never missing a deadline, she probably deserves it. Lord knows she has the money for it.
I dropped assclass like 2 months ago, way to boring.
I put a hold on haikyuu but i think i think i should get back into the anime. Is the series good?
The big three is an American thing.
>Non other manga can't
Hoping we'll NEVER EVER get an adaption.
>All these one piss comments
Holy fuck go back to Ad/v/enture and stay there
Does /v/ even like wan piss?
the picture of that poll is like 6 years old
What did you expect. Did you read OP's post.
That still doesn't account for the fact that 45% of the readership is over 30, and there's more over 50 readers than under 18.
Why do you assume that people want or even need "better" shounen? Shounen manga in general is meant to be fairly accessible and One Piece in particular is super casual-friendly. Everyone knows One Piece in Japan, every slut gal-gurll with her tanned skin and bangle jewelry has a Luffy or Nami wallpaper somewhere on her smartphone.
>If I know one thing it's that underage spics love their one piece
You hang out with underage spics that much huh?
>I dropped assclass like 2 months ago, way to boring.
You're a faggot.
not at all. Looks up one piece on any youtube, deviant art, or social media shit and you'll most likely get a spic. Also highschool when i was there everytime i overheard a conversation about one piece it was either a mexican or some goth girl
what about the birdguy surviving the explosion
Where the fuck do you live?
>They're going to remake Rurouni Kenshin again
It's already been remade
How new are you?
Despite what people will say otherwise, it's one of the most beloved series on /v/ in terms of consistency. It has the biggest and best threads out of the big3 by far.
How does that affect the plot
That's like being mad at alcohol, because spics like alcohol.
I haven't browsed there since like 2010.
You're no better than a spic anyway then, so what are you bitching about.
A lot because we can't tell when a situation can end badly for a character.
The explosion had like a kilometer radius and the birdguy was right at the centrum.
Meanwhile Ace got "just" a fist puncherd through his torso and died instantly.
never said i hate one piece anon. just that mexicans love it. haven't touched the series yet but i'll get to to soon since someone i know started it recently.
im a white male who is taller than 5'4 and not obese. im better than 99% of spics just because of that
SAO will replace Naruto.
I think I've spotted your problem.
Also, good things become popular, even with people you don't like.
oh fair enough
yes One Piece is generally loved here, for good reason
Just because of the Soul Society arc Bleach is the best shounen of the past 14 years
You mean the first and only good arc in the entire thing?
Second, actually. The first arc was kinda boring.
But it ranks up there with some of the best ever, in terms of story progression. Kubo fucked up afterwards.
That's a big generalization for one isolated incident.
The bomb was intended to destroy the city and all the inhabitants. Pell was much stronger in normal form than the average citizen, and even stronger in his bird form.
All that happened was that he happened to be strong enough to withstand the blast
Ace on the other hand took a MAGMA fist in the gut, aside form the fact that one of the strongest people in OP delivered it.
It got the best OP at least.
Kubo is so fucking retarded.
He is fed up with Bleach and everybody knows it.
He should have just stopped after Aizen.
Aizen was his self insert and favorite character. He kept him alive on purpose, to bring him back at the right moment, to finish the manga once and for all, the way he wanted, not how his editors wanted it.
He fired all of his editors last month.
it doesn't matter how "strong" you are if you are at the center of an explosion of a bomb that is supposed to destroy a whole huge city and kill all the inhabitants.
>>>Bleach's anime canned, kicking it's popularity in the balls
>still won't see the outfits from the opening
i thought hispanics were obsessed about dragonball and rurouni kenshin even though they already finished
More than half of the original cast of the manga just became irrelevant and never turn up again.
Does anybody remember teddybro?
Would've been a good ending point but he kept going for the money. If he wasn't pressured by editors the more current arcs wouldn't be so shit though
>Editors pressured him to wrap up the fullbring arc therefor cutting it drastically and skipping all development with chad/orihime making them irrelevant again
>Fans harassed Kubo after he killed of Byakuya and was again pressured to change and shamelessly brought him back to life
Byakuya's death was amazing. I fucking hate this cancerous fanbase.
Yes it fucking does in an ANIME
You're thinking like its the real world
They have super strength
There is no more big 3, there isnt a manga out there that's nearly as popular as Naruto and Bleach.
>Died in first assault of the enemy
>got a poem
>all the fucking symbolism and character reactions
>no rukia avenging him with her bankai to make the might actually exciting
>no renji going beast mode and no jobbing for once
i am legitimately angry about this still.
at least we got some sun god fun for what it's worth.
Ace was pretty fucking strong too why couldn't he just survive a little bit of magma, if a random birdguy could survive this huge explosion?
The thing that I wanted to point out is that OP is not consistent
Kodansha Big 3
>Attack on Titan
By the way, there is a bleach thread up ,but...
>Byakuya finally accepting Ichigo as a shinigami and protector of soul society, begging him to save Rukia and everyone.
Holy shit, Kubo really should have told the story like he wanted to instead of listening to those faggots.
Please don't mention Rukia anymore, it hurts too much.
>Rukia is finally back
>Rukia's bankai finally revealed
>it's pretty cool actually
>one chapter later
>WELL NOW TIME TO GO BACK TO THE NEW ENEMIES THAT NOBODY CARES ABOUT
/pol/ is leaking
I miss Rukia so much ;_; My first waifu
found the twitter picture
>he just sits there in a hole in a wall covered in blood with his flowers going in the wind giving his final words
>LOL NOPE HE GETS HEALED
Fuck these faggots. This makes me so MAD
LET THE CREATOR OF THE MANGA DO WHAT HE WANTS WITH THE MANGA
This exact same thing happened with Renji, Hitsugaya who were all supposed to die in the soul Society arc, even fucking momo
>hating fun and lewdness
Angry niglet in a wifebeater gets me every time
i fucking hate her but having her get stabbed again is the greatest fucking moment for me. i really hope it happens again
no fuck the industry.
The artist should be abled to write the story they want without being controlled by the editors
IF U WERE KILLED TOMORROW, I WOULDNT GO 2 UR FUNERAL CUZ ID B N JAIL 4 KILLIN DA PERSON DAT KILLED U

>Aizen killing momo
>Not the greatest most satisfying scene in manga history
Isn't OP the highest selling manga in Japan by a huge margin? I dropped it at the Alabasta arc because it was so boring. You'd thinka story about pirates in the desert would have more going for it.
You have my solemn promise that if Pell was subjected to his internal organs being ripped out and the surrounding area organs burned away by one of the strongest men in OP, RATHER then being subjected to a large amount of PRESSURE, he surely would've died
I know not many people die in OP but that doesn't mean its inconsistent
And back to my earliest point, Pell living or dying has no effect on the actual plot of the show. Nothing changes with his life or death, the show wasn't focused on him and he's not a major player in any of the politics or any of the wars or fighting happening after alabasta. He might show up towards the end just as a throwback at most.
the story really picks up after Alabasta anon
>I love a political story if done well but in SnK doesn't manage to pull it off.
SnK is the LOST of manga. Isayama tries to tell many stories but has the focus of a toddler. That and forced cliffhangers.
My whole point was to point out the inconsistensy.
You have to be consistent when you write a story, how are we supposed to know if a situation could end with one of the characters dying or if it'll just end with them turning up the chapter after saying that everything is okay.
>He fired all of his editors last month.
Yep. He put out a offer to hire more.
Just the background editors and assistants
They do that with shows in the West too. Even that-show-which-shall-not-be-named pandered to its adult male fanbase.
We don't really know.
The story IS progressing, though. After the current a lot of things are going to change again
People are gonna keep telling you that it gets better after X arc
Because it literally keeps getting better
Every arc carries over into the next and into the future. The story keeps getting bigger because nothing is forgotten while new dimensions to the plot are being added.
You haven't even started to see the world government and the politics involved yet, and what effect crocodile's defeat has on the status quo in the world.
And it's a big one.
I thought editores were assigned to you.
i have no idea what you mean. unless
were you watching the anime?
That argument is flawed though. What you're saying is basically
>X character didn't die
>Y character died
>THIS SHOW IS INCONSISTENT
No, MLP. There was an episode where the girls discovered an internet fanclub that was full of creeps. Or so I heard.
It was just a big step down from the Chopper arc that preceded it.
Well no wonder he fired all his bg editors
>bleach and especially naruto were huge back in the day. I don't know the sales, but naruto was the clear #1 many, many years ago as far as I'm concerned, and at some point all of them were strong. it was right to call them Big 3 back then, but it's wrong today. There's only One Piece now.
OP sells like an order of magnitude more volumes than either of them.
not him but one piece always sells a shitload and probably always will.
Look at fucking hunterxhunter togashi doesn't do shit and he sells half a million more than fairy tail, If One Piece ever ends same shit will happen. He can literally put out a 2 chapters a year and probably get over 3 million sales every year
No what I'm saying is that
>X character didn't die when he should have without further explanation how he survived
>Y character died when he should have
>Z character is getting crushed under a castle or whatever
Will character Z die or will he just turn up the next chapter ?
I wonder if Japan will treat OP ending like the U.S. treated Breaking Bad. People acted like the world was coming to an end a year ago that that television had peaked as a medium.
Zoro threw a large building at someone
Do you see my point?
Like, he picked it up with his bare hands and threw it. There's lots of other example of how inhuman some characters are
The Idea Of One Piece’s Protagonist Comes From A Lonely No-Lifer Hikikomori Teenager Two Days Past Finding The Second Use Of His Penis, Now Playing With It In The Attic Not Knowing How To Get An Erection And Pulling It Outwards & Around, Noticing The Elastic Properties Of It, Ergo Using It Mixed With His Stupid 6-Year-Old Fantasy Of Becoming A Pirate And Using the Satellite In The Sewer By The Street To Broadcast His Drawings All over The Attic Wallz.
Japan sees One Piece on par with Superman or Mickey Mouse, they don't consider it like Breaking Bad.
lol its clearly going to end soon enough
Knowing that, if a large object were to fall on zoro and he survived, would you think it's crazy or would you accept it
Is there a Japanese equivalent of Breaking Bad? A show that you aren't allowed to say isn't a masterpiece?
Looking at manga stats is actually interesting.
>One Piece is 145 million ahead of it's follower
>192 volumes and 1,736 chapters
fucking christ man
That's exactly what I'm talking about.
Even after seeing the ridiculous feats of strength, you still expect that he should be as easy to kill as an average person
There's never one thing that someone doesn't like. Want a chuckle, go to /tv/ and give your opinion on BB.
All laws of physics are thrown out the window when every other character has a superpower.
Look Anons, can't we just agree that Oda fucked up with Pell and learned his lesson considering Marineford?
Gol D. Roger was literally just shot
Ace "just" had a hole punched through this body
Why shouldn't Zorro die by getting crushed under a building?
Is Gintama ending?
/tv/ hates Breaking Bad because Gus should have been the final boss instead of lolnazis. They stabbed the show in the back after season five. People were actually rooting for Walt to win even after Ozymandius. They loved it until 2013. If you want a real /tv/ hatemind go mention Tarantino or Louis CK.
Gol D Roger was fucking beheaded at the gallows
Direct quote from KidsWb opening
"Befare dey hung from da gallows"
He was hung
Gold roger had his head cut off
Ace had 0 organs after that punch
sorry, "Befare dey hung im from da gallows"
>Trusting the 4kids bastardization.
Didn't they turn a talking whale into an ice burg for absolutely no reason?
Well shit if 4kids said that then that changes everything
ok still what's the difference between not having any organs or having all your organs and bones crushed?
You're still thinking about it like he's normal.
His body is strong enough that he wouldn't actually get crushed
Also there are no guns with the Marines. Only special bubble guns.
Remember that Ace didn't get a hole punched into him, but rather opened a portal to Cotton Candy Land where he decided to leave to.
what about ace's body then?
It's all about forshadowing and tone. You can tell when a character is going to die because it resonates with the story in a plot-relevant, thematically appropriate way. Only three characters have died counting the boat and each of those deaths took over 100 chapters to build towards
Akainu is physically one of the strongest men in the entire story
PLUS he has the magma ability
SnK - 40 million volumes
Berserk - 31 million volumes
A large area of his torso was blown open. You can see that his heart and lungs are gone. You can't pretend that he's strong enough to be okay or that it missed vital spots because half his chest is gone
SnK has even more fujobait than Berserk.
Roger was "executed" in a fashion which shows him at the gallows with blades at his neck. The anime shows him getting stabbed in the heart, but he also could have been decapitated. There doesn't seem to be a noose.
Put a band aid over it.
More or less what Luffy tried. Didn't work too well.
If Pell got a magma fist through his chest, do you think he would survive?
If Ace got exploded by a bomb, do you think he would die?
No to the first question
And if you know who ace is at all, then you'd KNOW the answer is no to the second question as well
I'm not sure if this is bait or if you don't read the manga
Yes and no way, he wouldn't even be hurt
I remember this one anon in one of the One Piece threads days ago mentioning that Zoro will die by falling down some stairs.
Would be funny, but ridiculous.
Zoro won't die, but if he did this would be the best way to do it.
>because it resonates with the story in a plot-relevant, thematically appropriate way
what the fuck, and Pell didn't?
I'm sure you meant no to both
Pell will not survive and ace will not die
Not that guy, but I always get surprised at how much /a/ hates fun.
For a board full of people who consume media on an extreme level, we sure like to take ourselves seriously.
No I disagree you can only say that after the fact.
NOBODY expected ace to die
It was several degrees of magnitude less significant. Again, 100 chapters of buildup
Are you kidding? Many people did, myself included. In fact, the only reason people doubted it was because they didn't think Oda had the balls.
>Only three characters have died
what about Eric the Whirlwind
Didn't Kuina die after like...2 pages of buildup?
> It appears to be a pretty stupid show even by shounen standards, the character design is infuriating and it's one of those shows that simply REFUSES to end.
Why do people who don't read one piece talk like they fucking know anything about it?
Flashbacks are different, people die all the time in flashbacks
does Jojo count as shonen
They will be replaced with Japanese webcomics.
Toriko might be back in the top 3 Weekly Jump manga just because Naruto is ending, Kuroko ended, and Bleach has been less popular for the past three years.
Not counting HxH, the top 3 might be OP, Toriko, and AssClass.
Then again, Haikyuu! might get more popular this year.
Now there's a series that just kept going on for no reason
it got a sequel in jump next
Well you called it I guess
But you're still in the minority because everyone didnt think he had the balls
> It could basically go on forever, depending on what he wants to do with it.
No it can't, Luffy's about to take on two Yonkou, one of the other Yonkou is the final boss and the last is his mentor.
So while we do have a bit more of a ride, there's not much Oda can do to stretch it past those points.
I know. That's why I said Weekly Jump specifically.
Toriko's my favourite manga, but I didn't expect it to be in a position where it could consistently be in the top 3, especially since the anime wasn't that popular. This might be the only chance it has, though.
What the fuck is assclass you guys keep mentioning it
Thinking Oda won't do it isn't the same as saying it isn't being foreshadowed though. The point of the discussion was consistency in character death; Ace, Whitebeard, and Merry died because they got a fuckload more foreshadowing than anyone else.
It's a cool premise that's pretty great at the beginning but now it feels kind of slow.
It's still worth at least checking out if it seems interesting.
Why the hate on Toriko?
How the fuck could he have ended it after Aizen with all those fucking unanswered questions?
What do you mean?
No one's saying anything bad about it in this thread, aside from the one guy who was confused about it.
Jump really wants it to take up the reigns naruto is leaving behind and it just won't. It's not bad, but it doesn't have the potential to be ridiculously popular
Aside from "X never used Bankai", there were only a few that could have been swept under the rug. The Soul King question was the only really serious one
It's not bad. It's just vehemently mediocre.
The food premise isn't that"focused". The art is mediocre, the character designs aren't very unique or memorable. It's competent but I'm afraid that's all it'll ever be.
Which is a shame because a battle-cooking manga is a really cool concept on paper.
My point is that our Phd's in literature were suspended because it was fucking ACE
Actually if day it was more than people just assuming he wouldn't. It's more because nobody died before that and it just seemed highly unlikely that he would start with Ace of all people
up until part 5.
Actually I'd say***
Old jojo counted as shonen the new ones are seinen. Steel Ball Run was in shonen jump but then switched to Ultimate Jump and became a seinen.
As much as /a/ hates Sanji. I think he'd be a really fit candidate for a battle-cooking protag. Whenever he talks about food and shit it's really interesting, plus with the waiter geddup he's always wearing he just looks more like the part than someone like Toriko.
I knew Ace was going to die, because his slip of paper was constantly getting smaller despite the fact that he wasn't being "killed' at the moment.
Meaning There was nothing Luffy could fucking do
Sanji's character has been laying the WK on kinda thick, but I still like him.
Ace is basically back anyway, so its not like it really matters
Now I miss that one show that is BASED on cooking and the food was monsters or some shit.
Used to watch it as a kid too, on Fox.
Yet the anime is so damn awful
I don't really understand it. Is it because One Piece is so popular people don't even bother with the anime?
Yeah he can get annoying at times. I still think there's a good character there.
Like I don't mind him being a passionate/irrational frenchie horndog, that's part of his character. But it takes up so much of his character sometimes that it gets a little grating. I don't think it's a bad thing persay, we just also need to see him do other things in addition to it.
Oda gives a shit, Toei doesn't
Although some of the specials and movies were pretty entertaining
Fighting Foodons? I think.
It's the english dub anyway.
also he was shitty
Yeah, that was it. Was enjoyable, but looking at it now makes me kinda shun away.
Tried to close it halfway through, kept on watching though
It's because it's Toei.
And once those fuckers get a show licensed they NEVER let it go.
>No accurate DB adaptation from Madhouse
Oda genuinely loves his work and is literally working himself into an early grave over it. Toei understands that extending the series by a single year makes an extra several million dollars in profit; expanding it further nets even more money. Hence filler and drawn-out canon
Culturally, the manga is seen as something everyone in Japan enjoys.
The anime is only really watched by children who have more time on their hands than adults/less of an eye for terrible animation. It's a show you watch because it's on. That's why it's made every week all year round, it's not good because Toei has to constantly shit it out every week.
>it's not good because Toei has to constantly shit it out every week.
>implying they can't just make seasons and alternate between ongoing popular manga series and put forth quality animation for each series instead of shitting out slideshows
Yeah Drum Island has one of the best flashbacks but Alabasta's ending was marvelous
I just don't understand some of the decisions they make.
They stretch everything out to a retarded degree and couch all the arcs with godawful filler, but then they turn around and refuse to animate canon shit like all the cover stories.
Speaking about nip tv, I always wonder if they do reruns of old anime or if they just continue onwards with the new season of anime.
>The art is mediocre
I respectfully disagree.
It has a lot more detail than a lot of other manga. I think it's better than OP or Naruto, and definitely HxH. Maybe you just don't like the art style, which is fair, but the art is probably not the main reason it's not as popular.
I'm sure cover story arcs get shit ratings. They only really work as once-a-week sight gags
Do you see them doing that for any other show? This is how long running shonen program works. It's not an ideal world. One Piece's anime is literally on the same scale as Pokemon, Pre-Cure, and Detective Conan.
The stigma mandates that it's on every week.
Would I love a One Piece anime that took longer to make but looked better? Hell yeah I would, but that's just not how it works. We can only sadly hope for a mediocre re-animating like 15 years down the line like DBZ Kai was.
> I always wonder if they do reruns of old anime
They did a rerun of Soul Eater. Most old anime are usually pushed to 1080 or 720p and remastered before they get re-aired though.
>hope for a mediocre re-animating like 15 years down the line like DBZ Kai was.
>they don't even remove ALL the filler
I don't mean to be "this guy" but the technical level isn't that impressive here. I've seen Oda do a lot more impressive things with his goofy style. Even Kishimoto with his generic and thin style, I think it's more competent than Toriko.
HxH is perfectly fine too so long as Togashi is lively and actually giving a shit.
Naw, I don't Oda would copy and paste Ace's personality onto Sabo, it would make his death worthless.
There has to be a specific reason why Oda let Sabo live yet had Ace die.
wow I like SnK because it's a lot like LOST
lets hope Isayama doesn't cop out towards the end like the writers for LOST did
Well get ready
He's gonna have PLENTY of screen time when we finally catch up with him and nami and the others
Do you have any examples of Oda or Kishimoto's work that you find particularly good?
I want to see what you're talking about so I can compare them.
that nigga finna get beat
reminder that Sanji hasn't won a single 1v1 fight since 2005
Sanji is basically the substitute captain at the moment so he'll have his time to shine and I can't fucking wait
No, Nami is NOT taking the captain role. She will however still be the advisor to the sub captain like she always is
Who would win in a fight?
Post timeskip nightmare Luffy or Senketsu-Kisaragi Ryuko Matoi?
Sanji is a man with plans for situations like this.
But let's face it, once Big Momma gets him, it's ggs.
Who would win in a fight between these two?
Aokiji because logia
How far behind is the Naruto anime?
Technically 2v1, Nami still had to finish him off
But even then that's still only 2007
bitch almost got killed by a sword
Speaking of One Piece, I just got into the series after not paying it any mind for all these years. I started reading the manga a few days ago, and just finally got to the timeskip. I'm almost burnt out right now, and there's still over 150 chapters until I'm caught up.
Thanks for listening.
Well I'm going to start watching World Trigger
Who cares? Are they stronger than Madara? And I’m not talking about Edo Tensei Madara. I’m talking about Rinne Tensei Madara Uchiha with the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan and Rinnegan and with rikidou techniques, his Gunbai, a Perfect Susano’o and control of the juubi and Gedou Mazou, with Hashirama Senju’s DNA implanted in him so he also has mokuton kekkei genkai and yin-yang release ninjutsu.
you're a champion
Do you mean Kon?
Because he was in this arc.
>Loves One Piece
What's wrong with being Mexican and loving One Piece?
I always read this shit
>Really picks up after X
I read 300 chapters of one piece. That's easily five years of publication. It's boring. I can't stand when fags say it'll get good. Like, nigga, I read several YEARS of it, it's shit.
There's no helping shit taste.
But it seriously does get good right after that
I bet you like AoT, slut.
These are the true reasons.
>the sun just set a little while ago
>holy shit why is it so fucking dark
>waited 5 whole HOURS for it to come up again
>former bro (fuck him) tells me that the sun comes up in a couple hours or so
>tell him I've heard that shit a million times
Never had a single friend since then.
Water 7/Enies Lobby are the best arcs for sure
But if you're not digging it after Alabasta and Skypeia then its probably not for you
Consider if the night lasted seven years instead, anon.
Shit, if you're not digging Wan Piss after Arlong Park then its probably not for you
Yeah, probably not.
I know I said it's shit, but that should be taken more as a it's shit 'for me'.
What really bugs me is that the things I don't have a taste for are wildly popular and the things I like don't do well.
It really isn't that great a word to seriously justify something, and I see less and less people call others out for trying to use it. But then again most people are too lazy to come up with talking points, reasonably speaking.
is that vash the stampede
Buddy Complex had a rerun. I missed it. I wish I had seen that.
tfw no reversi and zombie gun to monopolize the top rankings in jump throughout 2016
Skypiea was the weakest arc and a huge struggle to get through.
At least the environment art was cool.
Would they really re-animate EVERYTHING? I mean holy shit it has like twice the number of episodes
The high point was Enel's face.
do you hate adventure
Why do people act like the "big three" was ever more than briefly a thing anywhere but America?
I could see them eventually covering all the major arcs with TV specials
They already did Drum Island and Arlong Park and Alabasta but we don't talk about that one
Whats wrong with Alabasta
one punch man kicks ass
but its gonna suck if it gets an anime
Will Bleach ever be animated again?
embarrassingly bad animation for a feature film
Crocodile's shitty, shitty cgi sand
Money, dear boy. The best reason.
Are any of the one piece films worth watching?
Black peoples bones man, they always breaking
Only the ones that retell arcs, even they aren't that good
The original ones are all crap even the ones oda was supposedly involved in
Oh sorry, I had no idea there were feature films summing up some of the arcs.
Movie 6 was pretty great
Strong World and Movie Z are really entertaining too
They usually strike a nice balance between gags, action and a feel-y ending
So far there aren't any good sight.
Strong World and Film Z are good, as is the 3d2y special
Are you literally retarded or just joking here?
>it will make you cry.
That fucking chopper story.
Worth Watching Tier:
Not Offensively bad Tier:
everything else besides the Alabasta Special
Offensively bad Tier:
The Alabasta Special
Then SnK won't probably has terrible killing human scene that we want nowadays. Titan is the only redeeming quality of it.
Which studio would you let make an OP remake, same OST and VA or different ones?
The story went downfill after he realized that if he killed off all the characters and ended it early, he wouldn't be swimming in money anymore.
I'm actually liking it more now that it went full politics.
It's not gonna last long for like... 500 chapters and it's popularity won't be as big as the big 3 since it has too much hentai. Kids only love action and their moms/papas won't allow them to buy bikini girls.
The VA is definitely the strongest aspect of the anime. I don't think I could imagine anybody with a different voice.
I really enjoyed the leitmotifs thing they used to do. I just wish it was used more instead of rehashing the same 3-4 tracks over and over
Stop posting and go back to your shithole thread.
What about the merry special?
He should have stayed dead, like Ulquiorra.
>Kids only love action and their moms/papas won't allow them to buy bikini girls
You're right anon, I can't image an animu ever getting popular if it has bikini girls
>Implying Ulquiorra won't come back because muh high speed regeneration
The problem with that one is it doesnt stand on its own like the other arc retells
i thought the broken leg in that picture was a shoop at first... holy fucking shit it's not.
as the niggas say: sheeeeeeit
>I just wish it was used more instead of rehashing the same 3-4 tracks over and over
Fucking this, OP's OST is fucking huge yet they use the same 5 songs the last 100 chapters. Fucking Toei.
I don't read Souma, but One Piece doesn't have that sort of thing often
AKAME GA KILL, PARASYTE: RE
It's a very popular series. It even gets doujins when there isn't an anime yet. Frankly, I'm wondering what's taking them so long to unveil it. It's got more than enough chapters to adapt, the only question is finding a studio that can do Tosh's stuff justice. Are they just going to twiddle their thumbs until SHAFT is available or something?
What are you even talking about, you dumb fuck? AgK is a niche series that runs in a niche magazine, and Kiseijuu is just getting an anime to help promote the movie.
No, there are differences between bikini girls and promoting sex scenes.
Wearing a bikini in beach is normal and acceptable but tearing off clothes/promoting nudes/implying orgasm is unacceptable for young kids.
SnS is porn hidden in food reactions, admit it.
He has turned to ash. Deal with it, as much as I love him, I don't want him to return to this shithole what is called Bleach now.
I said it wouldn't be as much popular as the big three because they are generally acceptable for every generations.
You don't want your possible 10 years old son/daughter to read it right?
YOU ARE SUCH A SWINE, YOU HEAR THAT CUNT? I BET YOU STILL WATCH YURU YURI WITH YOUR PARENTS YOU LONELY BASEMENT WHORE. AKAME GA KILL IS THE MOST PURE AND POWERFUL ANIME OF THE YEAR, AND WHEN IT ENDS AND GETS A MOVIE LIKE ONE PIECE I'LL LAUGH AT YOUR IDIOCY, CAPPING YOUR POST, CUNTSHIT.
Simmer the fuck down.
"Big 3" is something weeaboos made up because they were the most popular in America at the time.
Bleach is like 7th or 13th in Japan.
Everybody loves One Piece over there though, even porn stars.
I did it when I was 10, hell yeah I would. But I'm not having kids so that bit is moot.
I swear they're like horses, always breaking shit or killing themselves over the stupidest shit.
I'm not even kidding about that, ask a farmer or rancher how their last horse was killed and you'll be surprised by their answer.
>10 years old kid
>letting them read porn
and I wonder how the new generation will turn out, "Local news: Pregnancy at age 10 because she was reading the porn her father provided for her!"
/a/nons are such good parents, aren't they?
>mfw decades from now people will talk about how they were born in the wrong generation and wish they could have been alive when the Big 3 were around
Film Z was great, it actually felt like it could have fit into the story if you took out the fact that Luffy was fighting an Admiral and there were some crazy bomb things I kinda forget what they were tho.
Strong World was OKAY.
Arlong Park Movie was decent.
Movie 6 was the one Sushio worked on, right? Of course it's good.
What was the equivalent of the Big 3 20 years ago?
Eva, Macross, and DBZ?
OH, B8 RIGHT? HOW ABOUT I B8 YOU THEN HUH? I BET YOU FAGS LIKE CODE GAY-ASS TOO DON'T YOU? YEAH, HOW ABOUT YOU GOTYE TO REDDIT YOU SWINELORDS, I BET YOU LOVE LIVE SWIMMING AROUND IN THAT SHIT TASTE YOU HAVE. OTAKU PRIDE, BITCHES.
The last scene of Strong World made me tear up
And that credit theme is beyond hype
Louis "White Guilt" CK.
I have never seen a King of the Hill image last this long on /a/ before
Pretty sure the big 3 didn't existed before.
The formula I've seen used for some of the really successful battle shounen (OP, HxH, and to a lesser extent, Toriko) is:
>huge world with a fuckload of crazy shit happening all over the place
>crazy (but defined) powers
>antagonistic (though not THE bad guys) factions that will reappear from time to time
>each arc is thematically different
>vague end goal
>WSJ thread: new big 3?
>only 1 found
/a/ come on
I hope the bright colors didn't attract any little kids to watch this...
When I was watching a live stream I saw sakura trick recently so i guess lesbians were popular
Kishi will just make a new series and bleach is still going on strong even if its popularity has dropped.
Hunter x Hunter > Jojo > One Piece >>> shit >>> Bleach > Fairy Tail > Naruto > Toriko
You have the last four backwards
If nothing else, One Piece, Nisekoi, Shokugeki & Haikyuu!! will make sure it doesn't go broke.
My Hero Academia and World Trigger could work too, with the right promotion.
AssClass could have been a candidate if it was extended, but the mangaka said it isn't happening and the plot doesn't lend itself to extensions either.
I'm not sure why people think never-ending battle manga are necessary to have a successful magazine when 8 out of the 10 top selling manga in Japan right now.
If Jump really wanted more of that, they wouldn't have axed Mx0 (more so considering how successful things like Index and Mahouka are) or Double Arts.
Maybe they're just trying a different approach.
Isn't he previously a H artist? How he could got a deal with Jump?
/tv/ hates it because it's popular, that's it.
Sure, but you can't force it.
I can picture people insisting that the new big three are OP, SnK and AgK though.
>next big three
There was no 'Big 3' before the current Big 3, and there won't be a next.
all of those except for one piece are subpar garbage
What will happen, is that One Piece will end in 7 years with little to no competition, and after 6 or so years more, a new generation of shounen battle manga (that will take a lot from OP and HxH) will appear very quickly and be called the Big 3 (or 2 or 5 or whatever).
Think the space from DB, HnK and Stardust Crusaders to OP, Naruto and Bleach (and HxH, but you know what happened to it).
On the other hand, if OP runs for too long, it'll overlap with the "new generation", kind of like JJBA would be doing now if it were still running on WSJ.
They asked and he said "how high"
>cooking manga becoming part of the big three
anon come on
Oda will die before One Piece finish.
>not Nanatsu no Taizai
shit > * > Jojo > Wan Piss
Is anyone else glad that naruto is finally reaching its conclusion?
>the world vs obito is just bomb spams
>madara gets premature death
>kaguya only knows kekkei genkai and doesn't have any logical sense
>naruto vs sasuke is just a showcase of jutsus
Let me fix that for you
>naruto vs sasuke is just a showcase of POWERUPS
Pell will survive anything any day.
yeah, but if it is about the game spinoffs, then naruto has far better threads.
>Kaguya doesn't even have any combat abilities or tactics
Compared to Madara, she was some small fry with nothing but a one-hit-kill move.
The new big three is OP, Naruto, SnK. With Naruto ending soon Ao no Exorcist / Magi / Terra Formars could take its place.
>Fairy Tail above anything
u lost me.
I like y'/a/ll
i did not mean to >Nisekoi, i don't even know how it did that. sorry.
bump for good thread
post more y/n
