I just finished all 195 episodes of Urusei Yatsura.
Can we have a thread about this?
What about the movies, Anon?
Now you have to read all the manga...
ALL OF IT!
I saw the first three, but I'm going to watch the OVAs then go straight to the fifth one for closure.
Not sure if I'm missing anything by skipping the fourth, and I've heard bad things about the 90s one.
Is the anime a big departure from the manga?
watch the movies read the manga available THEN make a thread
They're all good.
Although yeah, the fourth is just weird.
Anime is more enjoyable and better, but manga has originality going for it I guess?
There were a few stories that weren't adapted though, but the anime made all the ones that were adapted better.
Which do you prefer: Lum bum or Lum bum?
This still has one of the best 80s ending themes
Every theme was amazing.
The complete music box is even better. Too bad it's not one of /a/'s memorable soundtrack things.
How did that episode end anyway?
By then I was burned out and wasn't paying attention to anything that wasn't extremely interesting, since everything took a dip in quality around then.
>tfw no more 80s poster girls
Inaba the Dreammaker is the best story.
READ THE DAMN MANGA
But the anime has Oshii, the manga is just Rumiko Takahashi crap.
Ataru slapped the frog when it tried to kiss her and she was like "Darling~" then went ahead and kised it anyway infront of everyone and it turned into an old fat man with a smelly dick and Lum gave him a rusty trombone.
you are overrating Mamoru Oshii and underrating Rumiko Takahashi.
It's not really necessary.
>since everything took a dip in quality around then.
About half way through things got sort of stale, it was still fun to watch just for the "what the hell is going on" factor, but it got a lot less funny.
While it's easy to overrate Oshii I don't think it's actually possible to underrate Takahashi.
Inuyasha kind of killed her rep a bit for many, fillers or no.
Urusei Yatsura doesn't really have fillers though.
I know. Fillers are just another bad thing she's known for.
The way UY is you can flip to a random episode or chapter and understand the whole thing with very few exceptions.
Even after Inuyasha I had respect for her and then she started to work on Rinne..
I'm so sorry.
Yeah, Rinne is such a big disappointment.
You are just idiots who can't understand the real greatness of Rinne. It's an oldschool SoL Manga with the typical traits of a Rumiko Takahashi Manga which makes it a fun ride.
But Rinne sucks in comparison to every other series of her.
It's like Inyuyasha just had a stroke. No fucking thank you.
I've never read Rinne but I think it's kinda sad that such a big star of the 80s and 90s doesn't get any attention anymore.
Inuyasha was selling hundred thousands of copies while Rinne doesn't even appear in the Top 50.
She was never good to begin with. I hated how much praise she got from all my friends back then in high school. All series of her are shit except of Maison Ikkoku.
Who are you quoting?
>hating Urusei Yatsura
>hating Mermaid Saga
No anon, you are the shit taste.
