Any series (either manga or anime) dealing with alternate history in a DECENT way?
I quit watching CG after I realized how much of a dodgy crutch the plot premise was.

WHat, too DEEP for you?
>>
>>11344545
No. CG's alternate history is laughable even if it IS sci-fi/fantasy. The points of departure don't make sense.

>>11344525
Sauce, ploz?
>>
What's in the unoccupied space? Countries too small to be recognized?
>>
I'd recommend giving up on Anime and just reading The Guns of the South.
>>
>>11344654
LOL, TIME TRAVELING KLANNERS GO BACK IN TIME AND GIVE AK-47S TO THE SOUTH, MAKES PERFECT SENSE.
>>
>>11344614

Who cares? The point of an alternate timeline is for fun, not for srs bsns

Why does Wiki give a different world map?
>>
>>11344664
Uninhabitable due to lack of arable soil or fresh water?
>>
>>11344664

Uninhabitated areas or just unorganized territories.
Map is roughly based off the accounts described in The Peshawar Lancers book by Stirling.

I would guess that they are two different times in the series. But I can't say for sure.
>>

Why do so many works of fiction suggest that a land invasion through Alaska is totally reasonable?
>>

It makes no sense that the English may have loss the Battle of Trafalgar in an alternate history? Please tell me what kind of half ass excuse you have for saying that.
>>
>>11344814
I thinking more of the lines of Ben Franklin turn coating.
>>
>>11344834
That happened over 60 years before Trafalgar. I sense crazy Geass people screwing up history.

It's just that the book gives a barely chalked out overview of the world situation, so many of the countries boundaries are left to the wildest speculations.
>>
>>11344813
Because they're close to each other, and bad alternate history fails to take anything other than politics and military into account, such as weather.
>>
>>11344732
>Zipang.

That's really the only alt history/time travel I can think of, too.
>>
>>11344834
Why? Could you say no to ruling 3 states and ending a war that’s not going well for your side?
>>
yeah and i can totally freeze time and stuff.

What I don't get about Code Geass is why is the Japanese Imperial Family not mentioned? Is Kaguya the heiress to the Chrysanthemum Throne?
>>
FUCK YEAH BRAZILIAN EMPIRE

Because nobody gives a shit about them then and nobody gives a shit now.

Anus Throne.

dead or maybe like you say
>>
WTF? OP asked for recommendations, not some shitty historical analysis done by retards.
>>
>>11344814
If Napolean won at Trafalgar then a whole lot of shit could of happened.
Shit like him raiding England and being sucessful forcing the British to finally allow his empire to exist. Or him being really fucking sucessful and installing a puppet on the English throne like he did in Italy and Spain.
He certainly would not of lost at the Battle of Waterloo because the events leading to Waterloo would never of happened
>>
You know, I was thinking about how much the Japanese seem to mess up Western history but then I thought, are there any good realistic examples of alternate history of East Asian countries told by a Westerner?
(not counting WW2 stuff of course)
>>
>>11345015
I don’t remember if he lost Waterloo (in geass alternative history) didn’t he just die there?
>>
>>11344987
What's that one where a modern Japanese ship is transported to WW2 right before the Battle of Midway and the crew has to decide if they owe duty to the Japan of then or the Japan of their time.

Not really an alternate history though. Just a fictionalized version of the real thing.

Well, for one whoever sees fit to write an alternate history novel more likely already has some rump of historical knowledge on his back, or at least that's how it works in the West for mediums which do not pertain cheap entertainment.

Crimson Skies, bitches.

Just read about this on Wiki. I might add it to my Summer Book List.

Sengoku Jieitai 1549

From Wiki:
Both the film and manga are based on Sengoku Jieitai (aka "Time-Slip", "GI Samurai", 1979), an action film which starred Sonny Chiba as the leader of a JGSDF platoon sent back to feudal Japan.

The manga series was drawn by mangaka group Ark Performance. The scenario was written by Fukui Harutoshi, based on Ryo Hanmura's novel.
