So, any of you guys watching Kaiba?
dropped after 2nd episode... not my kind of show
I know I am.
It's daytime /a/ so obviously no.
I'm still watching. Shit is awesome. Best show of this season.
Shitty show is shitty.
I love it.
Shitty troll is shitty
do we have any fanart for this show?
There was a huge thread yesterday about it.
It's fucking trippy. I haven't seen an anime like this in a while. AND HOLY SHIT sexual inuendo. This show has more adult themes than mnemosyne.
Has a very Bakshi/Crumb feel to it, if you know what I mean
takes Moeblob to a new level
The fact that /a/ dislikes it must mean that it's good
ITT underage b&
/a/ doesn't dislike it.
Dropped after 2 minutes, I can't stand the fucking animation and character design. Altough the main idea is good, the execution sucks monkeyballs.
>I WISH EVERYTHING WAS ANIMATED LIKE CODE GEASS OR GURREN LAGANN
Actually, it is better than this shit.
>the execution sucks
This is true because you day so.
>the execution sucks
This is true because you say so.
I watched the first episode and didn't like it too much.
Does it get better later?
Same person, go back to watching Gurren Lagann.
UH? So who watches Kurenai? Shounenfags or moefags?
UH? So who watches Kaiba? Shounenfags or moefags?
best show this season, along with Kurenai.
The girl shouldn't have died. Also, the sheriff is a sadistic fucktard.
I totally agree with you.
I know its brutal. Surprisingly good though. I like the music too
Yes, having an unique art style makes it pretentious. One Piece is DEEP LIKE EVA.
the moment I realized this show would be good
After the 2nd I was like "WHAT?..." for at least an hour.
First episode is about 20 minutes of boring, but picks up during the second
>20 mins of boring and "wtf hax" (wallrun)
It was far from boring.
Don't say that. A mature mind can enjoy both Kaiba and Gurren Lagann
This show reminds me that there REALLY needs to be an Earthbound anime. It has the same sort of weird music and style.
it's surreal, artistic, retro, but definitely not boring!
aren't they robots during that scene?
A CRAZED HIPPIE ATTACKS!
BUT THE SOUL IS STILL HUMAAANNN~
You're no better than Gaifags hating Kaiji because of the character design.
not true. kaiba is just shitty indie crap. Enjoy your DEEP children's cartoon.
IT'S CRAP BECAUSE YOU SAID SO.
How is it a children's cartoon, Troll-kun?
Stop arguing with trolls who never watched the show.
ok, not all that boring, I just meant the part where he's meeting all the poor folk. I was like wtf?
I <3 OP credits
so what would the trolls prefer we watch instead?
Code Geass R2
ITT:Kids too cool or stupid to appropriate old school animation styles
I loved that part, especially when they were trying to find the kid's brother's memories. And that spinny thing with faces. "She's not old enough to talk."
I happen to adore Kaiba's unique artstyle. The story telling is awesome different. Hurr hurr doesn't look like every other anime so it must suck. Christ.
This is what anime needs more of, avant-garde stuff that's fascinating and stimulating on different levels. Sadly most of Studio 4C's stuff are shorts.
Other recommendations: Robot Carnival and Memories; watch them.
Kanokon, To-Love-Ru and Geass R2.
Fuck indie shit, let's watch mass produced shit because we are not like those fuckers who watch DEEP anime to be cool.
>Kanokon, To-Love-Ru and Geass R2.
Great, fanservice crap and "plot holes - the animation".
You forgot to recommend CAT SOUP. I've been reminded of it the entire time.
The hand drawn style is kind of refreshing. All anime these days is so crisply done with out and feel of fluidity, which is not a bad thing either.
Kaiba gave me one of the hardest trips I've had in a while. People dying left and right, people's bodies being stolen and destroyed, seeing despair and imprisonment everywhere. The first two episodes made me shit bricks.
That too, but then you add on the HD element which only makes it more fascinating and incredible. The best part was that action scene where they'd being chased, the movement and panning were excellent.
Oh god the Kaiba OP is so beautiful it makes me want to cry ;_;
only thing that bugs me
can you say South Korean Animating staff
ED is good too, listening to it now
Same. I have a feeling that this show will be all about the gloom and sadness, but somehow have a happy or bittersweet end. God, I fucking need more Kaiba.
Kaiba is one of the only shows worth watching this season, if not the only one.
There's enough shit-hot Japanese animators in place. It'll be fine. It's a fucking Yuasa show. If theres only one thing we could count on, it's that the animation would be awesome.
well that WAS disturbing, but than again it's not you average animu. I found that somehow logical, that it was not animated by your average nips.
I'm thinking about watching it, but the plot seems pretty boring and generic to me.
great opening music, bear and get used to the design and you'll end up watching a mature anime with good animation.
Ep 4 is done entirely by Michio Mihara : storyboard, keyframe, animation... 5170 drawnings in 9 months...
It's the same guy who animated ep 12 of Kemonozume.
>The fact that daytime /a/ dislikes it must mean that it's good
how does the story summary sound in any way generic?
>One day a man, Kaiba, wakes up in a broken room. He has no memories, only a pendant with a picture of an unknown woman. Outside of the room are grotesque floating electrical clouds of disjointed memories. Kaiba is suddenly assaulted, and escapes into space. He travels to various planets, encountering various people and retrieving his memories. Memories of an inconsistent and decaying world, of his own agony and of Niero, the woman in the picture
Not saying it's 100% original, but for anime it's pretty unique (not to mention the actual presentation, which counts for everything)
of course, Elfen Lied was also partially done by Korean animators, and it looked great, though character design was somewhat lacking (thank ARMS for that I guess)
And that "trying to remember the girl" reminds me of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Plot aside, the surrealism of the design and of the characters and environment itself are what sets the show apart from cookie-cutter shit most anime are. It's one of those shows that restores my faith in anime.
I don't think they sell/steal memories in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
I'm not sure there's enough known about the plot to determine whether it's worth it or not from the story alone.
It takes a huge fucking turn out of left field from there. No one knows where it could go.
Okay, I'll give it a shot.
I just noticed this..I think he was shot. Besides the massive hole in his chest, the wall looks like it was melted from a blast, plus a possible murder weapon is in the room he wakes up in
weapon, one of the first things the audience sees
Trust me, Yuasa does anything but generic animus.
possible background Niero (or someone else) shot him and stole his memories
>> I found that somehow logical, that it was not animated by your average nips.
This comment is so stupid I don't even know where to begin but I'll just start by saying that obviously the unique visual style is because of Yuasa and his staff, such as character designer Nobutake Ito.
I'd be willing to bet that all the keyframes are done in house and that only the in betweens are outsourced. I'm not saying that Korean animators aren't talented, they may be, but that doesn't really have anything to do with how Kaiba looks.
So the koreans are only doing the inbetweens ?
Well...i don't know, he seems pretty much rotten.
He cheats, watches his girl making love...erm. (that is if pink girl is his daugter like she said)
The stowaway girl had to live :(
word! shit sux! SAGE SAGE SAGE
1) you forgot your sage
2) gtfo and go back to Narutu sand ninjas
Get a life. Get a boyfriend. Get a girlfriend. Get a job. Get a life. Get a life. Get a Life. Rest in peace Dimebag Darrell. Get a life. Get a life. Get a life. Get a life. Get a life.
Stop saying the artstyle is so "unique." It's a direct copy of Osamu Tezuka's artstyle. Only the addition of CGI makes it different.
Really, the fact that it reminds me so much of his style is a major plus. I love the original style that anime and manga began with 60 years ago.
It clearly an hommage to Tezuka.
But. Yuasa adds unique things like sex, flashy colors, weirs chara designs (in b4 Ostrich), unique atmosphere, and unique animation. So no, not a copy.
Tezuka did all that stuff. Even fucked up sex.
Honestly, it's like he's channeling Tezuka. Which works for me.
Wut just happend?
Purple hair girl copied her memories into Kaiba and literarily fucked herself right?
How did she do that and where?
Did Kaiba now about this?
-Very interesting anime, but a little bit hard to follow.
bump for justice
Kaiba watches you.
I don't know why Kaiba needs to be such frequent topic of debate... If you like a show, then cool, if you don't, that's fine too, it doesn't really matter.
Anyway, is he gonna be switching bodies for what's left of the show? Is his original body gone for good? Discuss.
He was sold in ep1 (at leas the body) and his chip was transferred into that hippo looking thing.
see >>11337431 pic for refference
It's just trolling. Most of the time people are actually discussing the show, and there's a lot to discuss.
This show is awesome.
Yeah, but he didn't protest against that?
He was tricked huh?
Don't be an idiot. Kaibafags are GLfags.
My favorite show since Gurren-Lagann.
Actually, yea, I loved GL and I love Kaiba. And Kaiba started airing one year after GL.
So maybe GLfags = Kaibafags?
It all makes sense now...
See you next year "Happ Bunny Adventures in Sugartown" !
Anyone seen anything more than the first two episodes? That's all I could find on google out of the 12 released.
