Old school fans complain that we complain about anime prices because it was expensive for the VHSs back in the day. Anime is widely abundant now, their argument no longer carries weight.

$35 for a DVD is even more expensive and the American dollar is worth less today than it was back in the day. Anime is shit now and your argument holds no weight.

Klan Klein is better in her loli form
>>
>>11312460
Both forms are more than acceptable.
>>
>>11312460
I like both.
>>
>>11312258

The fuck are you paying $35 for an anime DVD for? Singles from every company except Bandai Visual top out at $29.99 for 3~5 episodes, and if its more you probably get anywhere from 7~9 episodes (see Bandai Entertainment's Geass release) hell, BE is releasing Gurren Lagann in three subbed only sets at $29.99 for 9 episodes, which is effectively $20 if you aren't an idiot and know where to shop.

And hell, I can get volumes of Simoun for $12.50 shipped for 5~6 episodes.

tl;dr anime is cheap if you aren't a raging incompetent.
>>
>>11312258

Unless you're paying Bandai Visual's prices, you aren't paying $35 for a single anime DVD unless you're a total fool.
>>
>>11312460
Fuck you. It's fucks like you that are gonna make all the Klein Klan porn in C74 lolicon
>>
>>11313333

Nice name, Heather.

To me it's not a matter of anime being cheap, it's a matter of there being too much so where the cheapness of one series doesn't mean shit.
>>
>>11313386

So? You don't have to buy EVERYTHING, just buy the stuff you really like.
>>
>>11313424

I really like a lot of stuff.

I'm NOT paying for a $35 dollar DVD, that's why my anime DVD collection consists solely of Evangelion, Giant Robo, and two GITS movies. You may pay only $20 bucks for about six different niche series, but the sticker price is still going to be higher.

The GL sub-only DVDs are going to be shit compared the box set they're going to release in 2009. Anime isn't cheap, it's overpriced and DVDs aren't released in box sets often enough. The market is oversaturated and geared toward 13 year old weeaboo.

That's why I torrent instead.
>>
FUCK BANDAI VISUAL! $50 FOR A DVD WITH 2 EPISODES A DVD WITH NO DUB???? FUCK YOU GUYS FOR GETTING THE SRW ANIME
>>
R1 anime is perfectly affordable now. your average thinpack with ~13 episodes is MSRP $50, about $35 anywhere online.

most dvds are $20 and have at least 4 episodes.

if you're just buying your favorite series after it's all already been released in a thinpack there's no problem.

honestly manga is much more overpriced.
>>
>>11313633

No, you're an idiot.

NO COMPANY prices single DVDs at $35 except BV. Period. END OF DISCUSSION.

And who fucking CARES what the sticker price is? What matters is what you can get it for.

TRSI Studio sales, Deep Discount's 20% off sales, DVDPacific DAMN NEAR ANY TIME. Jesus christ, shop intelligently.

As for box sets, pretty much everything gets a box set release eventually, so if you want that then you'll just have to be patient.

Anime will never be as cheap as you want it to be, but that doesn't mean its overpriced (though it sometimes is, Bandai Visual leaping to mind) it just means its more than you want to pay. Which is fine, but doesn't mean you can bitch and moan about them not selling DVDs for $5 a pop (which people would probably still bitch about)
>>
I'd buy DVDs at five bucks a pop. Japan probably would too, regardless of whether or not japan purposefully gives us shittier-looking video because LOL WE DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR FOREIGN MARKET, ANN, STOP PRETENDING WE DO
>>
>>11313684

Manga used to be worse. The price point is usually about $10 per volume these days, which is about on par with most paperbacks, if slightly more. It used to be more like $15.

Books in general are surprisingly expensive these days.
>>
i don't buy anime since no one here sells it, also i'm a cheap bastard
>>
>>11313771

But ask yourself, what DVDs are sold at $5 a pop? Bargain bin shit at Walmart and BestBuy. The only anime you'll ever find at that sort of price is Korean knockoff Gundam and Mazinger or used copies at record & game stores.
>>
how can i find out when deepdiscountdvd's 20% sales are?
>>
I bought anime, but I bloody hate it when people act like its some sort of creed.

Just let people do what they want.
>>
>>11313843
reading is for faggots so books keep getting more expensive. At least that's what I figure, maybe publishing houses finally realized how good a racket the textbook publishers had and went "HAY WHY CAN'T WE OVERCHARGE FOR BOOKS TOO?"
