For the first time in years I saw a dub that I really enjoyed. Looking at the credits, it's really no surprise. I think I might have liked Nausicaa more in English that in Japanese. What are /a/'s thoughts? On the dub track, the film's mastery cannot be denied.
For those who don't remember, or don't know, here are some of the VAs:
-Edward James Olmos
saw it dubbed, my favorite miyazaki movie.
All of Miyazaki's films hove good VA's, its Fucking disney.
not my favorite, but nice dub nonetheless
Yeah. Disney can afford to get Hollywood actors to dub anime. Which is good, because Ghibli films deserve nothing but the best.
i love how the main character is off to the side
Fuck I hate that guy.
I finished watching this for the first time about an hour ago. I knew I'd heard Patrick Stewart...
Fuck I love that guy
Looking kinda obscure and irrelevant there Nausicaa.
Hollywood actors don't always make good voice actors. More often than not though, Disney seems to select pretty good.
Disney is proof that anime can be watch dubbed. We just need millionaire actors to contribute their voices.
I for one would love to see James Earl Jones.
I agree. Just because an actor is semi-famous does not mean he/she would make an excellent voice actor. Disney seems to pick the best ones in Hollywood, for the most part.
And I want a solid gold toilet seat. But shit doesn't work that fucking way.
A good actor (not a famous one, a good one) SHOULD be a good voice actor. Why? Because pretty much every line in a given movie is redubbed in exactly the same way voice acting dubbing is done. So they all have experience working in booths the way voice actors do.
That's pretty true.
Ironically Aya Hirano is probably the closest thing Japan has to Hannah Montana.
What about me?
