Here's mine. ^_^
1) Berserk -
Gatsu is perhaps the biggest badass in any book, movie, or even game. This is anime perhaps the greatest story of friendship and betrayal, hatred, love, and desire. This is the only anime that made me even consider reading the manga. I have never been a comic book fan, but I now await every new chapter of Berserk's manga.
2) Now and Then, Here and There -
This show as just amazing. I stepped into it with a lot of skepticism. After the first five minutes I almost turned it off. I am definitely glad that I didn't.
This is perhaps the most "complete" show that I have seen. It flowed so nicely that it felt like it was simply a 5 hour movie. This series was so dark that at times it sometimes felt horrifying. The ending was simply beautiful.
3) Neon Genesis Evangelion (w/ End of Evangelion) -
I felt like a complete dork downloading this series. Giant robots? Uggh...
The greatest thing about this series is that by the end of it you will feel completely mind ******. This is due to the creator's severe depression, and it's influence on the story and characters. Each character was ****** up in some way or another, and the series ended with pretty much the downfall of everyone.
Another thing to take note of is the animation. For it's time, this anime is very well drawn. To this day I believe that it looks nicer than a lot of the current stuff being released.
4) Naruto -
I was an elitist anime watcher, and because of this I was pretty harsh against people who watched Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, Inuyasha, and all of those other Cartoon Network anime. After I was running out of series to watch, I decided to give Naruto a fair shot.
I don't see how anyone can watch several episodes of this series, and really have negative opinions towards this series. Naruto has been able to pull every emotion out of me. I have been filled with complete joy, sat in deep suspense, laughed, and even gotten teary eyed. The characters are amazing, and the plot is even better.
The only thing that I think is bad about the series is the 85 filler episodes from episode 136-220. The first thirty or so were pretty good, but after that they started becoming complete trash. I actually skipped episodes 180-219, and went on to Naruto: Shippuden. These filler episodes were necessary so that the anime did not catch up to the manga; however, a new watcher can easily skip the fillers without missing anything from the central plot.
Another thing that I think can lead to negative opinions towards the show is the Cartoon Network version of Naruto. Never before have I seen an anime get butchered more by censorship. Also, with American dubs it can look very corny. The characters calling out all of their jutsus would seem very corny if you heard it in English.
5) Grave of the Fireflies -
This is a show that I have only watched once, and one that I don't plan to watch again any time soon. Not because it was bad, but because I don't think I have the heart to watch it again. It is one of those movies that you won't be able to stop thinking of for days.
This movie was probably the most powerful WWII movie that I have ever seen. It's ability to make animated characters seem so human is completely astounding. This is probably a movie that I will never forget.
ultimate troll ITT?
What no obscure shit for the indie crowd!?!?
>I don't see how anyone can watch several episodes of this series, and really have negative opinions towards this series.
