I saw this torrent and was thinking of grabbing it.

but before I do I'm a little confused. DVD has a resolution of 720×480 (NTSC) or 720×576 (PAL). Where did the 1280x720 come from?

It's like opening each and every frame in MSPaint and enlarging it along with trimming/stretching both ways to fit the 1280x720 scale. It's shit. Encoders try to make up for it by using filters to make it look "cleaner".
