I've come a long way from the land of /b/
reccomend me an anime ive only watched 1 it was death note and i loved it.. WHATS NEXT /a/
Naisho no Tsubomi
Boku to Pico
From /b/, huh? I'm sure you'll love Bible Black.
what he said.
Lurk more, and see what is popular.
from /b/ huh? watch lucky star.
Only reasonable option if you loved Death Note.
well some stuff its like too much anime for me... if that makes sense... like im still getting used to it, my friend reccomended trigun or the melancholy? how are those?
Trigun you should like. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya may be hit or miss.
Mnemosyne. It has lolisex and extreme BDSM and violence, which I hear you /b/ people enjoy
Jungle wa Haruhi Boku no Bibletoads Kai?!
Seriously, though, /a/ is not the place to come for suggestions on what you should watch. The best way to get a suggestion from /a/ is to read what people are saying about a series and infer from tone and other material presented as publicity whether that series is to your liking.
on /b/ we'd tell you to GTFO...<3
Monster is a bit similar to Death Note.
Monster and Kaiji, since you liked Death Note.
If Monster is his 2nd anime he will soon quit watching anime because everything else sucks in comparison.
These and Cowboy Bebop.
Then stop watching anime, because the rest is shit.
Oh no you DIDNT.
That's pretty much it. The rest is shit.
okay i looked up monster i think it looks really awesome... im gunna try that out i think thank /a/ <2... but if i want an action anime... what would be good i was told claymore? :S
What, Monster is similar to death note. Only better.
OR YOU'RE AN FAGGOT
also, you are not allowed to post here anymore.
I never said that /a/ was as bad as /b/ for suggestions. It's still not going to be easy to distinguish between serious suggestions and trolls, because we're anime fans and our ideas of what is a good series are going to be partially warped by long exposure to, amongst other things, /a/.
Claymore is a poor adaption of an almost decent manga.
Try Black Lagoon instead.
Monster and Death Note are both psychological thrillers focused around a cat and mouse game. Monster is more "realistic" and lacks the supernatural element, but if you can't they are similar. And, since he loved Death Note, he should love Monster as well.
Sadly, Akagi is too weeaboo for OP.
Akagi would give OP a stroke because it's too awesome.
OHH yeah i saw one episode of that that shit was hilarious... "Black or yellow" yeah im gunna have to watch that too nsgjkg
Why are you helping a gigantic faggot?
Watch Enzai, OP.
>but if you can't they are similar
I have no idea what I was stating here.
lol, I just looked up wtf Enzai is.
You'll like Gurren-Lagann. Everyone does.
You have your answer OP so GTFO before you get more troll responses.
I'd your ass?
I'm going with the consensus here and saying Cowboy Bebop, Monster, Black Lagoon, Trigun, and Kaiji. Monster can be kind of slow to some fags, but it gets better and better as it goes along. And all five series aren't stereotypically animu, IMO, so if you're really not into stuff that's "too much anime", they would probably be good choices.
I've seen 3/4 and found to be most awesome things ever, is Kaiji that good?
Cowboy Bebop. Get on with it.
See for yourself, it's not for everyone. Watch the first episode and if it doesn't grab you, don't continue (it gets better from there, but the mood or whatever is set up from the beginning)
Kaiji is incredibly enjoyable. Probably my favorite show in a long time.
Code Geass, seriously its rather similar to Death Note, and only the trolls bash it.
Cowboy Bebop, Monster, Black Lagoon, Trigun, and Kaiji.
There's nothing more GAR than weeping like a little girl
Geass is Death Note with robots and pizzabutt.
The Big O. Seriously.
Kaiji and Monster are both fantastic series done by the same studio as Death Note, and are both of the same genre, as >>11279627 said. Cowboy Bebop is another fantastic starting series like Death Note, and is one of the best series period. I'd recommend watching the Cowboy Bebop dub over the sub.
Black Lagoon is great as well, but not as good as the others in my opinion. It's like a more down-to-earth and over the top version of Cowboy Bebop. It's also done by the same studio as the first three series.
Cowboy Bebop was the first non-fail anime series I ever saw, and it's what made me love anime the way I do now.
WATCH IT, FAGGOT.
Sage for Geass.
Code Geass might be harder to swallow for someone who has not watched much anime.
>Geass is the episode of Death Note where Light and L make out on the rainy rooftop and then dry each others' feet off
>It's like a more down-to-earth and over the top version
I get what you're saying, but I lol'd at the contradiction.
Not moreso than Death Note.
It has at least a few things that would appeal to a large audience.
inb4 Death Note vs Geass as per fucking usual when the two are mentioned.
Yes, Geass is so original with it being derivative of Gundam Seed and Death Note.
it IS enjoyable though.
Evangelion. Everyone has to see TEH REI!!!1111!!eleven
I definitely would not suggest Eva for someone that has only watched one anime series.
It was many people's first non-Pokemon anime.
Eva's one of the big "starter series"... but it doesn't seem to be what OP wants.
ZOMG TEH REI IS HERE!!!!1111
why not go for something completely different, like azumanga daioh or princess tutu
Everyone likes Gurren Lagann, period.
>Cowboy Bebop was the first non-fail anime series I ever saw, and it's what made me love anime the way I do now.
Same goes for a lot of people. I second, as it's easy to watch, low on anime cliches, impressive animation, lots of cool explosions, very cool backstory with no lowbrow exposition, gradually developed and likable characters, incredible soundtrack, etc..
Or Lucky Star!
As well as the best last episode to ever grace an animated series.
Hey, same with me. I hated the anime I saw on TV as a kid (*cough*DBZ and Sailor Moon*cough*) but became a fan after watching Bebop.
Pfft, Evangelion? I liked it better when it was called Gurren Lagann.
TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN
i hated it until the last episode.
Well hello there! I noticed that you haven't seen The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya! Go out to your local store and buy it!
If I see that fucking girl one more time...
Holy shit, that's....exactly the same as me. In fact, I still hate Sailor Moon and DBZ with a passion.
I was sort of meh until the last episode. Last one was fucking amazing though.
what /a/'s take on naruto/bleach?
You just summarized a lot of the reasons I liked it so much. Especially as it was my first anime, too. It functions very well as a starter.
My dad fucking loves Cowboy Bebop. Otherwise, he hates anime in general.
CB is a good choice for pretty much anyone.
I'll go away when you buy the DVDs, Anonymous.
Mango and anime aren't really that bad earlier on, later on just stick to mango. Oh, and no one dies in Bleach, EVER.
It's great. Don't listen to the trolls. We love it. You can see how often we talk about it.
I already did.
Shit series is shit.
Totally not buying the DVDs now.
Naruto started off good, but is really bad now. Especially the anime. Bleach has always been terrible.
shonen is /a/'s favorite. just make an inuyasha thread. 500 posts easy.
Try Rahxephon OP, there are RARELY IF EVER any threads for it and most of them turn into ;_; threads for a certain episode within the first 5 posts no matter how crappy the original topic is. It also gets everything that Evangelion fucked up originally right. I actually like the protagonist too.
Oh I almost forgot OP, a fucking awesome action series you should check out is Baccano. Only 13 episodes so it won't take any time to get through it really. And it's incredibly beginner friendly.
RahXephon is so goddamn slow, though.
I found it rewarding at the same time though.
Gungrave is pretty awesome choice OP, cool action scenes, MAFIA (FUCK YEAH), nice animation. Too bad the vidya gaem sucked.
Bleach was good until Soul Society arc. I fucking loved Bleach for the first 30-40 chapters, and then it quickly started sucking.
Hey /a/, where's the guide to using nico video?
Shitty bunnysuits are shitty.
Ultimate Surivir Kaiji.
all faggots asking for recommendations need to follow this anon's advice.
Somehow today's /a/ is nice to a stranger.
Its called nighttime /a/. Daytime /a/ would sage and bitch because its a bunch of newfags trying to prove that they are not.
Please don't mention daytime /a/, those fuckers are all bleach, naruto, and one piece fags. They'll sage the shit out of anything that isn't their sasuke.
>I've come a long way from the land of /b/
>land of /b/
I though /b/ was a sea of piss
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
To name a few
