is Gankutsuou worth-watching?

I only know that this was GONZO animu.

in before shitstorm
in during shitstorm
would it have been win if had had the war animated, with mechs by Gonzo?
in after nothing
I liked it.
If you haven't read the book, yes. There are still parts that will make you rage, but I find people who haven't read the book are generally able to enjoy it for what it is. It's entertaining.

People who have read the book tend to get a bit indignant and more personally offended than necessary when criticizing the anime.
one of the very few GONZO animus worth watching.

It's awesome. Watch it.
It's pretty much the only good show besides NHK that has ever come from GONZO

What's the point of having space wars if you aren't going to use mechs?
Actually I enjoyed it more having read the book. Its a bit of a different take on the story and I enjoyed the move to Albert's perspective coupled with the retro-sci fi atmosphere.

What about Yukikaze?
gonzofied, but excellent.
Personally, I found it to be a bit unbelievable in a future setting. Most of the shit that goes down is a result of the main characters' inability to communicate with one another. In the Count of Monte Cristo, the technology of the day made that a bit more believable, but in Gankutsuou, it was kinda silly.
