Finished the anime. It was pretty good. enjoyed it.
But for fucks sake, the dance at the end is fucking godawful. Why do people even pay attention to it? Why has it gotten so much attention? It has nothing to do with the show, it has nothing to do with the characters. It's just mindless crap. The song isn't even good, it's just obnoxious pop with no melody to speak of (at least the opening is a guilty pleasure with some nice hooks, and that chorus has some interesting harmonies, but hearing that damn hyper synth in the beggining of Har har yuki or some crap pisses me off). The fanservice was also a pain in the ass to see apart from crappy cosplayers doing some pathetic irrelevant dance.
Knowing how such adaptations usually compare with the original works, I was casually interested in it enough to read the novellas as I'm an unemployed lazy bastard. Up to Volume 7 now, and as faithful as the anime was for the stories it has done thus far, it's still substantially better (and volume 4 was honestly fantastic).
But who gives half a shit about my worthless opinions. All I wanted to say is that I swear, if I see that fucking dance one more time...

Apparently you do.
Aru hare na kino koto
no series is perfect. maybe in a 1.5 hour movie you will get a flawless film, but no way in hell thats going to happen with as much material as even a short series covers.
It was cute
Get a job.
And the dance is great. Not a dime on Lucky Star's 2nd OP, or Zetsubo Sensei's 3rd OP, but it was a revolution.
I remember doing the dance in public to my friends before, and they were like 'woah when did you learbn to dance so well?' and i just scratched the back of my head anime-style and grinned.
a couploe of people passing by looked impressed too so that's why the dance is awesome
Do an analysis of the godawful Lucky Star OP, please.
Yukai was catchy enough.
I concur with your post, except the ending dance part: Yes, it doesn't really have anything to do with it, but the dance is cool. So is the song that goes along with it.
A bit girly, yes.
Don't analyze it so much. It's just a fucking cute, catchy, song & dance combo
TL;DR you're a goose
someone has never seen the dances in american cartoons. they are longer, set to worse music, make even less sense, and it can barely be called dancing anyway.
at least the dance from haruhi was fun and quirky.
you know what I fucking hate?
the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya. it's a great animu and all but people only watch it for the fucking GAY dance at the end. it's all haru haru yukai shit IT'S FUCKING GAY the show talks about the complexity of the universe and shit like that but no one cares they only like the peice of shit dance and gay song thats all there is of it on youtube I haven't seen a single AMV of it that isn't centred around the dance WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!?!?!?!?!? They're fucking weeaboos. fuck them sigh stupid, stupid people you have people like XDarkred007X uploading meloncoly of haruhi suzumiya and then nothing but shitty dance videos while there's STILL NO EPISODE 11 of season 1!!! but he/she doesn't care because he's TOO FUCKING BUSY UPLOADING DANCE CRAP TO GIVE TWO SHITS!!!!!!!!!
all of these are tl;dr.
the ED was fine for some, great for others and batshit for the rest, live with it. (i love it so qft)
who the fuck are you?
Did someone call?
Nah, false alarm.
Sage for shitty non-shonen
You, my friend, are a genius. btw, american cartoons are massive fail.
>btw, american cartoons are massive fail.
fuck that. as if animes are any better with perverted fanservice and lowbrow pandering. Sure, you hit a diamond in the rough every now and again (I consider haruhi mostly one), but it's the same deal with american cartoons(or rather american television programs in general, that would be the more accurate analogy). Not to mention the massive available library for each.
As for the dance...
It ain't THAT bad now that I see it again, but that comment by HydroKirby there summarizes my opinion about it well enough
HOLY CRAP~! NOT YOUR BLOG!
But I don't have a blog. You expect me to keep all these thoughts bottled up inside? You're mad, man!
yeah, volume 4 really was great. hopefully the anime does it justice.
