>>According to the ICv2 Guide #51: Anime/Manga, sales of anime DVDs in North America tumbled by more than 20% during 2007. The number of anime releases in the North American market also continued to fall, dropping another 21% after a 19% decline in 2006. ICv2 estimates the size of the North American anime market at $275-300 million (in retail dollars).
This is it guys, the golden road awaits us.
have fun when the japanese industry goes belly up without american dollars and you all lose your precious animus pirates
Man, you guys are surely the modern day Robin Hood or something. Fight for your right to steal anime.
I only read manga. And mostly stuff that's never been licensed. Go guilttrip someone else.
Finally, the industry is dead.
As a footnote...
I do buy manga. I do want more text translations.

oh noes quick the world is ending!
I don't give a damn. Just give me my Gurren-Lagann DVDs.
Are you trolling? PS: Before any anime was brought to the US anime was still being made in JApan. Idiot.
Same here. I rarely want DVDs, as I don't watch much anime and I'm much more a manga sort of person. What little manga I read that gets licensed, I buy, because while fansubs are as good as if not better than DVDs, manga on a printer screen and manga in my hand in dead tree format are entirely different things. I'll even buy stuff I read in scanlation just to have it in print format.
Seconded. They're ordered and waiting to be delivered. Ship the fucking DVD's ADV.
man how many threads are we gonna have on this general topic today
>ICv2 estimates the size of the North American anime market at $275-300 million (in retail dollars)
bigger than i expected lol
You're not allowed to post again for another week.
That was before Japan's economy went to shit. Tell me that animation studios don't like getting money for licensing series to the NA market.
just like the other 7 threads in the past 2 days? no thnx
You are my long-lost twin.
so in other words, the number of anime DVDs released in the US is dropping like a rock, and DVD sales are dropping at almost the exact same rate
I wonder if the "you're killing the industry" faggots will realize it
1) US economy is flailing.
2) /a/ doesn't give two shits about the DVD economy.
I've supported the industry by buying titles I really liked. I mean you can't expect me to throw down $200 for Kimikiss dvds if they ever came out here (lol doubtful).
