Someone please explain to me why Akira got so much praise?
Sure it has really great visual for its time, the atmosphere and music were excellent but the story was not that great. Or am I just missing something?
It got so much praise because shut up
wit yo wack ass opinion
I agree, but people say the manga is way better. Movie Tetsuo is an ungrateful little shit who I was hoping would die, but unfortunately he just sort of... went away and didn't at the same time.
Ok I think I will try the manga then.
It's a sci-fi film but a cartoon, yet it's not silly. Do you see?
>Sure it has really great visual for its time
>for it's time
It's visuals have aged classically like wine over the years
Or soldering flux.
You didnt live in the time when it got première. No point in trying to explain.
>it has really great visual for its time, the atmosphere and music were excellent
You answered your own question
>really great visual for its time
For our time aswell. Still stands up as one of the very best.
You got it pretty spot on anon.
Also fuck you, the visuals are still great to this day.
It's also pretty important for sparking a boom in popularity of anime stuff in the 90s, I bet a lot of shit wouldn't have made it overseas if it wasn't for Akira's popularity.
It's still one of the best animated anime of all time to this day. And, you're underage/new so you probably don't know what the hell the 2nd wave of anime fandom on west is about or that this movie started it. It was very influential for it's time and this is still felt today.
