whats your favorite version of Tenchi and why.
of the series or him personally?
>Whats my favorite version of Ryoko and why?
Tenchi Universe Ryoko
You are now my brother.
I'd say that i really liked Tenchi Universe the best. I liked that Tenchi best as well seeing as he pretty definitively chose best girl.
Tenchi Universe. While I love the backstories and art direction in the ova, universe felt more complete story-wise.
also, I preferred the intro music of universe
I'm not sure he actually chose anyone. It ends with a discussion that everyone will return.
my niggas, dat Universe OST http://youtu.be/FdZ_QveGaTU
Kiyone won my heart.
need more tenchi animated
Though I still think the first Ryo-Ohki OVA is the best animated stuff in the series, Tenchi Universe just felt complete to me. I also dislike how much a cluster-fuck Ryo-Ohki's continuity becomes.
I liked the original OVA, since Mihoshi's character was a lot better. TV series they just made her retarded. OVA she was at least mentally sound, just clumsy.
Still though, I'd prefer more Tenchi to less Tenchi.
he chose them all. the author went on to do stories with tenchi's kids
Stand aside, rogue opinion comin' through!
1. Yes it counts.
2. Yes it was the best.
3. Dat Opening Theme!
No one can disagree.
>>Not seeing Tenchi Forever, which is set in the Universe continuity.
Just one thing.
Why's Tenchi the most powerful?
I found Universe to be really boring, love the first ova though. The ones after that had a lot of wierd shit happening but where still fun.
Confession. I really like Tenchi Muyo GXP. Something about how upfront they were with "You are an unlucky bastard, we will use you as bait." was just entertaining.
Watch the movies, specifically Tenchi Forever (also known as Tenchi Muyo in Love 2, as the first movie is called Tenchi Muyo in Love). Both of these take place in the Tenchi Universe continuity. It's completely clear that Tenchi has Ryoko in his heart, and would choose her if the time ever came to do so.
My nigga, that song is the only reason I watch that last part of that episode in English. It will be stuck in my head for the rest of my life
Season 2 never..
Why you remind me?
I see then... I guess I know what to buy next.
That far right Universe...
We don't go there.
OVA was my facorite. I feel like the characters had more depth and better chemistry.
>tfw Washu's lullaby
yea, too late now, I've already seen that one....
Tenchi series being as popular as it was....why the fuck is so little of the novels translated?
Because Mihoshi was the translator until the accident.
Just a heads up, they change the artstyle in the second movie. I think it works for everyone except Ryoko
Thanks for the tip. I'm more so curious if they kept the same voice actors though. the Ryo-Ohki series is disappointing me on that end, but I'm muscling through it right now.
I think it was because before any fan translation of the Tenchi novels began, it was announced Kodansha USA was gonna start translating them which killed off any would-be fan translator but in the end Kodansha never delivered and closed up shop in America years later and those Tenchi fans from back then are already middle aged 30 plus year olds and have moved on and don't have the enthusaism needed to translate those Tenchi novels anymore and now Tenchi just doesn't attract enough e-peen among the light novel translation scene or Tenchi just doesn't fit China's taste in LNs these days which is bad since most current LN translators can only really translate from Chinese rather than directly from Japanese.
Ryo-ohki 1 & 2 are the objectively right answer to which version of Tenchi is best.
As far as English goes, everyone is in Movie 1, and everyone except Yosho's original VA is in movie 2.
I hope you're going to at least watch it with subs, Japanese Ryoko alone is worth it
I would say the OVA if OVA 3 never came out
But now it goes to universe. OVA 3...I just don't get.
the problem I have with Japanese is that I have to watch with subtitles. Subtitles are distracting, not to mention, I have to figure out who is actually talking. With the English dub, I can easily tell who is speaking not just by how different they sound, but by HOW they speak about things. But that is just my cup of tea. I might give it a shot at some point.
war on geminar
Where do I read this or find it? I find the tenchi multiverse pretty annoying to navigate.
OK, but which one of those has his kids?
I think that's the Shin Tenchi novels, I could be wrong though because I'm not that familiar with which novels are which since they've never been translated.
>they've never been translated
fuuuuuuuck. I always wanted to see what happened after. Never was interested in the different shows that retell the OVA I saw a million times already.
War on Geminar and GXP are technically in the OVA continuity if you haven't seen them yet although they're both side stories. (GXP is between OVA 2 and OVA 3, Isekai is somewhere but it doesn't really matter much since all the action is in a parallel universe)
I just want to live in the first episode of the ova.
There isn't enough Loic in this thread.
CAN'T ESCAPE IT, AIN'T NO USE IN TRYING
>those Tenchi fans from back then are already middle aged 30 plus year olds and have moved on and don't have the enthusaism needed to translate those Tenchi novels anymore and now
Biggest issue right here.
Most of us Tenchi fans are older, and don't have time for translation work.
I guess the easy thing would be to introduce Tenchi to new audiences.
Have you ever watched a sub before? Shit like that gets easier and easier the more subs you watch.
The one that has the female half of Kagato as his first wife.
OVA is the only true version
tokyo for deito scene tho
I think I had similar problem when I started watching anime with subs, back when all I had under my belt were toonami and adult swim shows.
My reading speed quickly increased and I became able to read subs without having to change my focus from anywhere on the screen. I'm much better off now.
I can't say I ever had any problems telling who was speaking though. Even before I knew anything about the language, I was easily able to associate voices with characters.
again, just not my cup of tea. I still watch some japanese anime from time to time that isn't out in english or has terrible english va's. I get by, but if I have the option, i prefer english.
So weird seeing Tenchi Muyo threads. This was my first real series of anime that wasn't Sailor Moon or Dragon Ball. Especially in the 90s when most blockbusters only had a handful of VHS' to rent out. Project Ako was actually in the store.
OVA series 1-2
dont mind me, just posting best.
join the club
Love that song.
This is true.
