I don't think I've ever come across such a wonderfully mediocre show that got carried by such an amazing soundtrack, beautiful animation, and growth by the main character that I ended up left with the feeling that I just watched one of the top 5 anime series of a decade.
The Everlasting Guilty Crown Thread... never forget the sacrifices Shu made /a/
The most beautiful and entertaining trainwreck of the decade.
Season 2 never ;_;
He’s dull 99% of the time, but becomes the baddest man on the planet when he is in a pinch during a fight... which is really boring to see... he's the god damned Gary Stu of Shinji Ikari type characters and I really wish this could've been Gai's show.
That shit was absolutely retarded. The first half was decent, but everything after the whole walling off part was sheer mediocrity. The main character suddenly just transforms overnight, and then suddenly just transforms back into his original self. That wasn't growth, it was a load of bullshit that in now way represented how a real person would react to that situation. I mean the way the characters changed throughout the series was completely retarded. Any moderately likable character became shitty, save a few. There were too many betrayals, it honestly got to the point where it wasn't shocking or disappointing, it was just business as usual for the show. I mean this guy is supposed to have "the power of kings" but he doesn't even have basic leadership skills unless his arms been ripped off.
Despite it's flaws i really liked the show - Not only for the live threads on /a/.
Also: Inori a best
Gai was a faggot. He is the reason why everything went down in the first place.
I remember this. Code geass of this generation they said. They were right.
It was utter shit.
You know it.
>Shinji Ikari type characters
What? In no way does he even come close to being anything like Shinji. Unless by "Shinji Ikari type" you mean completely unlikable. In that case I agree, but at least Shinji was a realistic representation of a human being. If I do recall, didn't he instigate the resurrection of that insane bitch, who he had previously attempted to prevent being brought back to life, and then proceed to do nothing but hug her and have both of them die? It was one of the most retarded things I had ever seen someone write. Furthermore, didn't he justify this bullshit because he wanted to hug her or some other stupid shit? I mean it was completely retarded, if it was "his show" GC would have been even more ass-backwards.
She was cute, sure, but otherwise was fairly bland. Although I will say, her singing brought the quality of that show up tenfold.
I never even realized
Such a good character design stuck in such a shitty show.
When everyone betrayed Shu and she was the only one to stay on his side I have forgiven her all the weaker moments. And when she smiles she is the cutest anime character I have ever seen.
This show had all the key components to be at the very least good when I look at the production side of things and the names attached to this but the story was such utter shit. It made me honestly frustrated such a talented director like Araki has to have this blemish on his credits, but this is his favorite show he's ever directed and worked on. I think it's one of the favorite shows his whole staff has worked on.
What the hell.
Right, then she died. The author killed off the best part of the show in a series of increasingly retarded asspulls. I swear that guy is better off making ntr porn.
>Right, then she died.
You had to ruin the moment.
They poured a lot of money into it attempting to make it into the next 'Geass'.
It wasn't even close to be gay enough.
Well she died at the last episode and became savior of everyone.
geass was garbage so im glad Crown turned out different. Cant say the same about valvgay, a true failure by the same author of geass
Okouchi and Yoshino really had fun doing this show.
Nothing but obvious viewer trolling.
Pick one, seriously it was kinda retarded at times, but was a whole was a lot more entertaining than GC.
>died for everyone
That doesn't really change the fact that the events leading up to her death made almost no sense considering the one who killed her attempted to save her like 12 episodes prior to her death
I watch Guilty Crown every week just so I can drop it every week.
Which Crown would you:
>the value of a person lies in the value of their void
>guy with the ability to open any door, gate, vault or the like in the entire fucking universe is put in the "least valuable" section
20 years later, I still mad
Shu wasn't able to operate every single void at the same time with his SSS+ efficiency and Soda on his own could at best open a can. Fuck him anyway, he killed Hare.
You'd think the one void he would want to use is the one that can open all doors, considering how they were cut off from the outside world. If they wanted to escape that is. Maybe all Ouma Hitler wanted to do was play Hitler at school for all eternity.
Soda's void was only good when Shu used it.
The system had two sides:
1) The Form
2) The Power
Soda had no power and therefor his void was useless. Shu can't hold all voids at the same time.
>Soda had no power and therefor his void was useless.
If you have the mind of a degenerate neanderthal, I guess that's how you'd think about it. There are ways to solve problems that does not include violence.
Ending was still fucking stupid.
Do you think they could just make a hole in the wall and get out?
They showed that there are troops patrolling.
Not this shit again.
Do you even know why he attacked the fucking tower?
Why was Evil guy such a fucking shit.
Oh I'm gonna have a heart attack.
Gai and Mana should've been the protagonists instead.
Gai was a faggot and Mana never gave a shit about him.
Tenderly love Inori
Ignore the rest
FUCK YOU SODA GOD DAMN IT FUCK
Also, Arisa survives. That fucking slut.
They also killed Dan the man.
The man was a fool and a genius at the same time.
Dan was too good for this world...
Great character design, soundtrack, voice acting, animation, completely ruined by hare-brained directing and a plot with the attention span of a goldfish. This show defines "wasted potential".
It's a 4/10 at best.
It's still better than 90% of anime.
True but that isn't saying much.
I marathoned it to catch up with it when it was airing. I actually liked most of it except the finale and ending.
so why the hell did inori turn into some catgirl near the end
You mean void monster.
That happend because Mana was partly in her body. A part of Mana managed to get into Inori when the ceremony happend at the end of the first half.
This is also the reason why she killed those student, hurt Arisa and tried to rape Shu.
Why did they think that leaving Arisa alive and Shu as a cripple in French would make a good ending?
Because muh bittersweet ending.
Because GC liked pissing its viewers off.
You poor thing.
This part is the reason we stopped dropping this show every week while it was airing. Once the Shuurer rose into power it became a little more interesting. Still a trainwreck, but with added segregation!
>geass was garbage so im glad Crown turned out different.
Said nobody ever
low pitched shit
series was good untill ep12
after that it was pure apeshit
>low pitched shit
Sorry - Just went by the name
Would be better than 2/3 of anime if there was no Inori/Mana. Fucking dogshit pink dandere shit, cancer killing anime. At least the series spawned EGOIST so I'm kinda glad.
Don't bother trying to find Planetes. So much cover shit on youtube it's not funny.
I can't imagine watching this through without /a/'s shitposting to spicen it up. Show's mediocre at best and the fun part were the livestream threads and waifu wars.
Mediocre? This was the biggest fucking trainwreck in the history of anime.
One of the worst cases of the MC getting completely fucked by his show in recent memory.
>good things about GC
dat opening sequence
that fight scene in ep4
>bad things about GC
pretty much everything else, but special mentions towards the worst mechas in anime history, a completely retarded plot in the second half of the show (and not the good kind of retarded) and a shit ending
Whoever designed Inori and her outfit deserves a medal
EGOIST - Departures.flv
>no non-shit version on Youtube
Fine, it's not like I wanted to link it anyways.
>literally everyone was hyped as fuck after the first episode with that fucking opening sequence
>then we got this show
Can't help it.
