ITT: Anime that took you a while to watch because the title mislead you
For some reason I thought it was another space combat shonen anime
This was a while back. It took me ages to get to it, because I thought it was about - you guessed it - cowboys
Did you think that Ghost in the shell was about haunted snails too?
rip in peace hachikuji
>Tengen Toppa Guren Lagann
What the fuck does that even mean?
Heavenly Breakthrough Crimson Face
Fucking finally, this thing has riddeled me for ages, why are anime titles so shit?
For me there is not a single pleasant sounding anime/manga (apart from berserk which is kind of fitting)
god i hate those names
Not anime, but I spent years avoiding Blame! because the name was such shit and gives a completely wrong idea of what the manga is about.
Maybe because the japanese have no fucking clue what the english/german words mean and just use it because it sounds cool.
See Neon Genesis Evangelion
>"hey i was watching this new show called Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru and Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai as well"
said no one ever
Because someone's recomendation chart marked it as romance I didn't watch Planetes until recently. It was about 5% romance subplot, 65% hard science fiction, and 30% human themes from general psychology to international inequality and control of resources.
They know what the words mean it's just the grammatical structure that is messed up.
Shin Seiki Evangelion : Gospel of a new century. Neon Genesis Evangelion: Gospel of a new begining. How it relates to the actual story: secret dead sea scrolls (the gospel) set in motion a plot to start instrumentality (the new era). Could have also been called New Age Gospel but that would have sounded hippie-ish. Same thing could be done with most seemingly baffling titles.
I don't think there's a single Fate/___ title that makes any sense.
>neon genesis evangelion
Got this mixed up with Galaxy Angel, don't know why
Samurai Flamenco, expected a Classy Samurai that fought while dancing flamenco or something by that.
Fate/Zero is a countdown to the 0 hour. That's about it.
Wait, isnt it about spanish flamenco dancers that must train to become samurais?
Nope, It starts out as KickAss the anime, and ends up as Power Rangers rather enjoyable if you ask me.
I stopped when it became power rangers, but was led to believe that's over too
>no one works
>not about a dragon's testicles
Doesn't make sense unless you're already invested in the series enough to know about the whole Grail asplode-y business.
thought bleach was gonna be about cloths and bleach
but in the end its still shit and worse than bleach and cloths
I wondered about that all the time too. It reminded me so much of this.
>no punctuation or grammatical form
This is an 18+ website.
>"Space Dandy is a dandy in space."
All these years of shitty titles have thrown me off. I didn't know a title could be so accurate and in no way misleading.
i thought it was going to be sailor moon 2.0
All word soup titles. If your title has more than 4 words in it...
Anime titles are kind of like band names, they rarely carry any real meaning.
Does that apply to people? what about 4 word names or longer?
The monster girl manga the locally organized translations of which fuel our monstergirl threads has on its cover "Every day that there is a monster girls."
The magnaka translated it himself but he is bad at English...
There is nothing wrong with the title "Tatami Galaxy" if you watch the show and learn what it refers to.
Is he aware of it and just doing the best he can or is he completely oblivious to the fact?
It seems people in this thread expect things no more complicated than this:
And what the fuck does that even mean?
Why did they translate hanagen as "fullmetal" instead of "steel," anyway? Marketing?
I always thought "Welcome to the NHK" was about a guy working at the NHK, the Japanese TV station
It's a crimson face that breaks through heaven.
Because it sounds cooler that way
The story of a red faced robot that pierces the heavens?
I thought it would suck like all other magical girl anime. I was wrong.
I actually thought it was gonna be some superman, batman hero thing. I avoided it for quite sometime after that. I finished the manga, and still have not figured out what it means. Enlighten please.
For a while I had no idea JoJo's Bizarre Adventure had anything to do with vampires and that it honestly was just about a fabulous gay man named JoJo who went around posing and being posed at in strange manners.
That's pretty much what it is, though. Just add a few incredibly sexy posing vampires and bam, Jojo's.
The first time I heard of it was just the title with no context and I thought it maybe was a Ghibli style film since the title reminded me of Kiki's delivery service or Howl's moving castle.
After hearing it was Shonen without seeing any images from it I imagined it was an adventure story about a young man named Jojo visiting various places around the world and helping people in need.
I still haven't watched, though I plan to. I assumed it was like bobobo for some reason.
>magical girl anime
oi fuk of m8 u got shit taste in anime
i keep thinking fruits basket is about gays
