Why does the dub change the awesome music?
Licensing issues. In short, they don't want to pay for the music.
This has a dub already?
It's airing dubbed on toonami. In fact, the dub episode airs BEFORE the Japanese one does. They even advertised it as such.
The same reason they don't have Japanese VAs. To appeal to a Western audience.
This is the entire reason for the argument that dandy belongs on /co/
I haven't started this yet..
Is the dub entertaining?
Is the music they replace actually good? Because that is a goddamn deal breaker.
Seriously, they replace the music? With that and the OP, it's a good thing I'm not watching the dub.
Which is a fucking stupid argument anyway, but hey.
I'm pretty sure they didn't. I think OP is referring to the ED and OP. As said above, licensing issues.
I highly doubt that.
It's more the ads than anything else. 30 sec of ad time on a big network like this is worth millions, far more than those licensing fees.
The Dub's okay for a dub.
Since it airs first, you cam kind of justify it.
It's not like Space Dandy is this magnificent piece, there's no reason to use one over the other. Just use what you like best.
List of Dandy professions so far:
How long before we get mercenary and space gigolo added to the list?
Commie releases Dual Audio, which is cool because you can compare the two. I'll watch the dub sometimes and then switch to sub when it becomes insufferable (the vest/undies aliens in English were fucking earsplitting). On the other hand, Commie is shit, so the whole thing is kind of a wash. Still, the dub is fine.
You mean the ost? Luckily I am not watching the dub.
30 seconds of ad time is rarely worth millions.
Only during finales of extremely popular sitcoms or during the superbowl has it cost 500k upward for a 30 second slot.
