Why japs literally sleep on the floor?
do they can't aford a bed?

It seems like most young japs/koreans have beds now, they just have floor stuff for guests and old people.

That, and it's kinda smart to not waste the majority of a room with a large-ass single-purpose bed. And sleeping on the right kind of floor can be hella comfy.

better posture.
Same idea as straight-backed chairs.

It's the masochisms. They take pleasure in knowing that they are being subjected to higher levels of CO2 than they would be if they slept on the bed.
>>
I wonder more why some have a bed while some don't

This, my bed takes up 1/3 of my bedroom space

A futon won't take any space, since you are meant to put the futon away after sleeping. Only absolutely lazy people don't put it away.

Also, it's not that bad on a tatami, since a tatami mat isn't as hard as your usual floor in the west.

But yeah, western-style beds are common these days.
