Finished this show last night.
I thought it was great. The story was pretty strong, and the characters were all great. Does the light novel ever touch up on some aspects they ignored in the anime?
Like Celty recovering her head, Anri+Mikado ever getting together, Kida ever returning and such? I know everybody can't always be satisfied with an ending, or turn of events in shows, but I feel as though there could have been more.
Fuck the second half, and yes, the light novels go into depth about everything else, I think it's almost done or it is done.
Will there ever be an anime adaption?
I was sure with the pacing, there would be an inevitable "fight" between all of the characters vs Izaya for the return of Celty's head.
No, they closed it off perfectly, so that if they were to never get a season 2, it'd be all good.
And it's been how many years? 3-4? Yeah, not gonna happen son.
The LN ties up pretty much everything. The story ended with volume 13 which came out about month ago. There's going to be second part to the novel though.
Then why even have the head a factor, if it was never going to come to fruition.
I will check it out then. I assume I can follow it from the end of the anime?
Because Celty's story is one of the two main plot lines of the series, it extends from the beginning to the very last volume. You wouldn't have Durarara without it.
If I remember correctly the anime only adapted the first 3 volumes of the LN.
There's also a spin-off called Etsusa Bridge which takes place around 15 years after DRRR!! and some of DRRR minor characters play a big role in the series
