So, /a/, I've never heard of Angel Densetsu before, but while I was reading through a Beelzebub thread here the other day, someone mentioned how they didn't find Beelzebub funny anymore after reading Angel Densetsu.
Curious, I picked it up.
I found it incredibly hilarious, and thought it was an awesome gag manga, until I got into the later chapters, and it was amazing how attached I got to the characters, and some moments of their friendship even made me cry.
So, you know, I just wanted to make a thread for this manga, I have no idea whether or not it's popular on /a/, but the more people know about this, the better.
I love you Takehisa
Absolutely great, one or two 'miss' chapters, but fucking funny throughout
Its good, no one may disagree with you on that. Watch the OVA if you can find it.
>I have no idea whether or not it's popular on /a/,
So so new...
I actually am, but I figured it ended quite awhile back, so there's probably not going to be a discussion about it, so why not start one?
As you already said, it ended a while back.
There were plenty of threads.
There's nothing to "discuss" about it anymore.
It's my favorite manga of all time.
That fucking chapter with Kitano's dad.
Years after, I'm still laughing.
Why do you think anyone gives a shit about your blog update on your enjoyment?
It's great, one of the few manga I've read more than once. Kyou kara Ore wa!! is the closest other thing I've read to it, funny stuff.
I'm sorry, I just wanted to share my anime and manga experience on the anime and manga board, didn't mean to offend, cheers!
The ending made me really sad, it felt like I actually lost a group of friends. I really wish for a continuation, but I'm sure the mangaka has already run out of story ideas, and it's definitely better for it to end on it's own terms rather than bleed itself dry like Naruto.
It's actually incredible how the mangaka managed to make THIS one of the funniest mangas ever and the most likeable MC ever.
It looks like something from Junji Ito
I reread it every few months, but it was pointed out here that I've always spelt it Dentetsu somehow.
It's actually pretty embarrassing that for almost an entire decade I've been fucking up the name of it.
Rather than the gags, i like the romance aspect a lot more. Finally a romance story that isn't build on misunderstandings(as ironic as that is) and they admit their love almost at the beginning, and then even went on dates, and you know what? It's entertaining. Why can't more writers create such good romance stories?
because hack writers only know how to write misunderstandings, and stupid ass interruptions rather than show an actual relationship.
>it was amazing how attached I got to the characters, and some moments of their friendship even made me cry.
Did you feel empty after you read it?
It have an OVA?
The one where his father visited school and meet other parents?
It's nice how quickly she discover everything is a misunderstanding and try to help him.
Yes, I felt like close friends of mine just died. I-it hurts, anon
>It have an OVA?
OVA is excellent, it only spans one episode though. Only runs up to the fight with Hakkun boss in the park.
That Dad/Yakuza fight during the parent teacher day had me in tears, quality stuff.
I think Angel Densetsu is my favourite gag/comedy manga of all time. I rate it quite high as far as delinquent manga goes as well.
Oh my, well this is cool, I'll go download it, thank you.
It's pretty old, and there's not that many delinquent anime or manga in recent years. A shame, would be fun to see the Kiii Kiii screaming scenes animated.
And then the author moves on to make fucking claymore.
>That double page spread of KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII/GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH
And the following pages were they were communicating just through that mean, I don't even. Might be time for another re-read.
>tfw Delinquents aren't cool anymore
I just don't get the Japanese sometimes.
You know what I meant.
I'm surprised you paid attention to my post in the Beelzebub thread OP coz no one replied to it.
Yeah, I miss the gang.
ohhh shit i didn't even realise they were the same person
Claymore's great, though.
Didn't Ikuno remind you of someone?
Actually, i don't like AD.
I tried to read it several times and dropped it after 1-2 chapters. I just dislike the way of using this one not funny joke about his face.
I don't thing that laughing at someone's face is bad, or stupid, i just don't get how people got scared their shit out from just seeing face of MC.
He's behavior and intentions clearly not evil, every man social enough to read the situation could see it.
You all know, i suppose, about Waratte!! Sotomura-san, that using similar joke, with that only difference that MC-girl is cute, but her behavior and some of gestures look like that of delinquent. And i laugh all my laugh reading this. I liked Kyou Kara Ore Wa, Strongest man Kurosawa, and many good gag-manga, but i just don't like AD and don't know why all of you speaking about it, like about something really good.
Speaking of Claymore, is it any good?
I dropped it around when that guy was wandering around with the monster kid, right after Claire goes SSJ and the group splits up.
I don't really remember any of it so I'd have to do a re-read, is it worth it?
Try Ares, it have really good romantic line.
I'd recommend reading more than 2 chapters of it before writing it off. Once a few more characters like Takehisa and Ryoko come in and become prominent it gets better (first two chapters only really have Kuroda and his goons).
If you liked Kyou Kara Ore Wa I'd have thought you would enjoy this, even though they are a little dissimilar in some ways.
You dropped it where it peaked so you're not missing out on much.
>I don't thing that laughing at someone's face is bad, or stupid, i just don't get how people got scared their shit out from just seeing face of MC.
You just live in a different country and in a different age. Manga is based on a period in Japan when delinquent theme was popular and brought a lot of trouble to normal people. Now MC looks like worst of delinquents, like a complete psycho.
Hmm, i read more than enough delinquent manga to know, how they looks. He just doesn't act like one of them.
Today MC delinquent don't even have a scary face.
Most only have a slight squinty eyes and typical anime protag hair.
Angel Densetsu MC face look like fucking alien.
You dont even rate it as MC material face.
Thats the whole gag, im surprise the author manage to run it through 15 volume without getting stale.
People just assume he is strong and have killing intent even when he is trying to help.
>tfw angel densetsu ended 10 years ago
At first i was going to say "Okay, not everyone has to like the same shit" but then you compared it to Waratte!! Sotomura-san and said it works there better...but that is the complete opposite for me, Sotomura does neither look nor act as much as a deliquent as does AD. I mean, all she does is "Tomorrow i get you" and everyone assumes the worst, while AD screams a warcry, with blood gushing through his eyes, running towards you with full speed, almost slams a tree against your head and you say he is "clearly not evil"??
Not to mention whenever Sotomura is not in her school uniform she looks like any other girls, and yet people still think of her as a gang-leader.
I liked it but it went so downhill I stopped reading it.
ALso every girl ahs the same face, I couldnt even remember the names too.
