A friend is trying to introduce me to more anime since he heard I'd watched a few things recommended on other boards here.
He just had me watch Sword Art Online.
What the fuck, was that supposed to be that unenjoyable or do I just have shit taste for not liking it?
You have shit taste.
Your friend however... Has shit taste, yo.
I thought that enjoyable till he finish the game...
Then it turned to shit.
Don't listen to this guy. His is a dumbass.
Second half was absolute cancer
First was alright
>or do I just have shit taste for not liking it
Well depends on what you didn't like about it.
I'm getting mixed messages here.
I mean, I guess it wasn't bad until the marriage section hit. And then from there the pacing just fell apart, and then the entire second half was awful as well.
glop glop glop
Don't listen to >>102180236
Well, besides what I said in >>102180381 my biggest issues with it were that the protagonist felt a little too Mary Sue-ish at times and it seemed like not many side characters got fleshed out at all besides how they related to the main character.
And the second half of it in general just felt like a chore to watch.
You're on the right track.
Though I started hating it since ep 4.
You're fine. Ignore what anyone else says.
It's bad. Not awful, but nothing spectacular. Or grand. Or good.
it means you're trying to fit in son now get the fuck out
Yeah. People shit on SAO a lot, but it definitely had points that were fun and enjoyable.
Go watch you're crap MoeBlob bullshit anime.
watch .hack sign dude or need a getway drug watch gundam or blood + and your friend no offense has a very shit taste sword art online suck dick SWEET SWEET DICK
Yeah, I will say that the beginning premise and how it played out was actually kind of interesting to start with. I just wish they had explored a bit more of the psychological or sociological side of things instead of dropping most of that completely after the first few episodes.
Did anyone else find episode 5 and 6 overcomplicated and unentertaining? It just didn't make much sense at all and I didn't really see the purpose to the storyline of the show.
What happened in episodes 5 and 6 again?
Yeah, that's where I dropped it, the death was really poorly executed.
It was that guy who got killed in the middle of a town square and evolved into a story about characters from their guild and marriages from their guild and shit.
Is that the retarded murder mystery sidestory?
Honestly I wouldn't even waste brainpower thinking about SAO anymore.
Never-mind I was thinking of the next episode.
Bottom line, the worst "Playing an MMO, get stuck in the MMO world" anime I've watched so far. I could go into why I think so, but I tend to be over analytical so I'll just keep it to myself.
If you want a better representation of an anime about mmo either watch any of the hack series or log horizon
Oh yeah, that. Yeah, it did seem a bit out of place or pointless now that I think about it.
Stop trying to fit in faggot.
Can we still tell people to go back to gaia or is that not a thing anymore?
>on an anonymous imageboard
You're doing it right now ;)
Ive seen so many replies about the second arc but never a clear set of reasons why they disliked it.
Oh look, the daily "I don't like Sword Art Online so I'm gonna make a stupid thread pretending to be new to anime so I can hate on it with the weak justification of being new rather than being a faggot" thread.
Fuck off, no one cares how much you don't like SAO or how much your made up brother supposedly does you colossal fag. If you want to make an "I hate SAO and need people to agree with me to stroke my e-peen" thread then just fucking die because your a pathetic faggot who couldn't possibly function in civilized society.
And no this has nothing to do with the quality of SAO, it has to do with faggots making shit threads to satisfy their faggot egos and you dumb faggots buying into it!
Well, at least for me it felt like a ton of the tension was sucked out of the series with the ability to log out, the fact that deaths weren't permanent, and that the protag started out with pretty much all of his abilities and skills. I mean, I don't think he was genuinely challenged once in that entire second half until the very end.
Not to mention that there was basically no development for any of the characters, either side or main. It felt like it all kind of blurred together in the end.
What the second arc lacked compared to the first one was the intensity of being near death. It really just was a game. That made it a whole lot less enjoyable for me.
And as a game, it is shitloads better than Aincrad.
I literally downloaded the show two days ago at my friend's suggestion. The only things I've watched before it were Madoka, Nichijou, the first 12 episodes of Kill la Kill, and some of the Ghibli movies, all at the suggestion of KSG.
>he actually is 1 of the 20 legit OP's
No recommendations on /a/, google it you dunce.
Imagine Breaker > Starburst Stream
1 out of the 20*, you know what I mean, I need some sleep for fucks sake.
What kind of person who is new to anime is already on /a/? Generally this isn't the first place one goes upon discovering anime and certainly if you have been on /a/ for any more than 1 day you would know how much a hates SAO and therefore you are still a faggot because you still knew how /a/ would respond.
Stop being a fucking faggot and stop lying about being new to anime.
Because it's obvious. The writing, the characterization, or lack there of. They don't legitimately comment because they can't be bothered to explain. Come on keep up, keep up! The short bus doesn't have time for those you fall off.
I didn't ask for any recommendations, though.
I wasn't "already" on /a/, I came here to ask about it since KSG wasn't exactly an appropriate place for it.
I've been on 4chan for long enough to know /a/ and decided to post here after I finished the series since I was confused as to why my friend thought it was so great. So no, I haven't been on /a/ for more than one day. It's just like when I go on /adv/ or /sp/ to post every once in a while even if I don't lurk them.
Hey guys, my friend introduced me to anime. I started watching Naruto. What the fuck? In my professional, never watched anime before opinion, it was decent until the exam arc ended. Is all anime like this? Or is my friend just really lame? Do I have shit taste? We also watched (anime everybody shits on) and I TOTALLY hated it. Seriously I'm (tries really hard to fit it) not trying to fit in here or anything.
Anyways, I think you have your answer. There's really not much sense in posting anymore.
You don't want to believe me, whatever.
Yep, agreed. Thanks to everyone who actually wanted to discuss it, it helped me get a more concrete idea on why I didn't like it.
Daily SAO hate thread?
Are you fuck really this bored?
Well I'm glad you actually replied instead of the usual shitposting afterwards.
Well I will agree that the tone of the 2nd arc didn't fit the expectations of the first. But even then, without the 2nd arc there's a lot less closure. In a sense of realism where it isn't just a fantasy vr the real world reaction from the damage caused by the nervegear in a way added to it for me.
If it was just done and over with after the first arc it would have just been a simple fantasy tale that barely had anything to do with the fact of it being a vr, reinforcing the central point of the story.
(I think everyone wishes they had a chance to be trapped in SAO forever and can't accept that the 2nd arc ruined their fantasy)
Finish this sentence...
But isn't months of work in what was reality and having all of that reversed by being logged out another sense of death? All that effort put into what you were locked into doing and fighting for survival to return and then finally returning to a world which you have even less control over.
To me that seems like even closer to death. Losing all you worked on to avoid death and put back into a world of the same consequences.
I watched SAO by myself.
In the end, it had me one step closer to crawling back for more.
It won't be forgotten.
First half had potential, and could have been so much better. It was pretty awful.
The second half is just pure garbage.
Not even going to lie, it had so much promise.
I instantly knew it complete shit was in store for the series the moment that one dude told the MC "You look kinda cute" in like, the second episode I think.
Read the manga. Sword art online progress.
Its a 100x better. The characters are actually flushed out. You feel a real connectrion with agil and asuna rather then just being told theyre all bros
Also asuna isnt complete shit in the manga.
Different anon here, there's also the part where the author basically shoehorned in incest for no reason besides pandering, made the MC op as shit for no reason besides pandering, then uh, oh yeah, made the femc a generic damsel in distress for the entire arc.
Your post and its points of authority gave me a papercut. Excuse me, I need to find a place for my head.
Kirito breaking the rules of the game again. Happened in SAO and it was shit but it happens again in Alfheim.
Asuna is reduced to a bird in a cage waiting to be saved, the opposite of the useful ally she started out as.
The plot. Fairy king Oberon is going to digitally rape Kirito's e-gf so he can for real marry/rape her. And it's up to Kirito to stop him. What the fuck.
First arc was alright. Not well written, clearly intended for young teenagers. Second arc was shit in every way.
>At the start had potential
>Halfway things start going for the weird
>Hero has to save damsel in distress who lost all her badassness at the end
>Very End a cop out
that anime is okay really overrated like I guess everyone loves it but I think it's really crap and disappointing
The fact /a/nons are seriously replying to OP rather than reporting and hiding the thread is a fucking disgrace. This board has become the epitome of entry level newfriends. Kill yourselves, all of you.
if you didnt like the second seson of SAO then you should be fine, and try watching series like hellsing ultimate, code geass and death note.
