RON PAUL /a/,
I'm currently in the works of obtaining this movie.
This this movie win or made of fail?
>>
fail
>>
The end will make you rage
>>
It's Shinkai, it's shit by definition. The only good thing about it are sky backgrounds.
>>
>RON PAUL /a/
>>
Back to /b/
>>
errrr its alright but the main character is a fucking pussy
>>
Its not bad. It made me realize how crap my life will be though.
>>
>>10217358

i find it funny with all the technology we have, he was too pussy to do anything
>>
realistic
>>
I though /a/ was crazy about this
>>
>>10217288
>HEY I LOVE YOU, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO LEAVE MY COMFORT ZONE.

Shit sucked.
>>
First part is good.

Second part is cliche.

Third part will make you cry manly tears.
>>
You don't watch Shinkai for the story, you watch for cloud porn and Tenmon music.

Watching new Shinkai films in anything less than 720 is instant failure.
>>
>>10217288
LON PAUL??

what that means?
>>
Really nice art, realistic, and boring.
>>
/b/ sucks
>>
>>10217395
>>i find it funny with all the technology we have, he was too pussy to do anything
I guess you didn't watch the movie.
>>10217288
>>This this movie win or made of fail?

This movie is made of win, win and more win.
You may find the story boring though, but that wasn't my case. Depends of your taste.
>>
>>10217503

how so?
>>
>>10217503
>You may find the story boring though, but that wasn't my case. Depends of your taste.

from what I have seen, those with good taste like this movie, those without good taste don't
>>
>>10217524
About which part of >>10217503 are you talking ?
>>
>>10217503
>HEY I LOVE YOU, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO LEAVE MY COMFORT ZONE.

Shit sucked.
>>
>>10217288
I can't read moonwrite, what is this?
>>
>>10217288

This movie will make you sad but it's good.

You'd have to have a similair experience to baw like this though ;_;
>>
>>10217561
5cm per second.
>>
Only liked the first part.
>>
Bring some Kleenex.
>>
>>10217426
>cry manly tears
OP here.
I cried manly tears at the end of >Placed Promised...
should I expect the same?
>>
I killed myself after watching 5cm/s.
>>
>>10217536
You have it completely fucking backwards. Everyone I have ever seen like this movie is a typical faggot who only watches the anime thats cool to watch on /a/.

Most people I see who speak against it have things like Future Boy Conan and Robot Carnival on their favorites list. Way better taste than /a/. You are just butthurt because you like a bad movie.
>>
>>10217618
Maybe your faggot friends aren't weeaboo hikkamori wannabees.
>>
>>10217618
RAGE factor spiraling out of control!

I don't like this movie either because the main character is a shitty excuse for a human being, but calm down.
>>
>>10217667
Maybe you should get new friends.
>>
>>10217551
>>HEY I LOVE YOU, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO LEAVE MY COMFORT ZONE.
>Shit sucked.
I see that this movie makes you BAAAAAAAAAAAAW but you're too ashamed to admit it.
She was over him at the end. For her, he's more a sweet memory of childhood. He FAILED at life, because he couldn't go on without her, while she got a husband and was ok with it. She's also the one who stop writing mail.
It's obvious in the final scene where she didn't wait at the crossroad. Also, check the asymetric reaction at this scene.
>>
>>10217602
glad to have you back
>>
>>10217599
i was cutting my wrists after watching 5cms
>>
>>10217288

Man, that title is so depressing if you think about it. Five centimeters per second. People, slowly drifting away. But yet, how hard is it to move five centimeters per second? It's an easy speed to make, an easy thing to do, something anyone could've done. Five centimeters per second is not an insurmountable gap, it's not an impossible goal, it's not a force of nature which would take a great deal of effort to overcome, it's nothing that can't be done, and yet... We let things drift away, we don't run to catch them, even though, all they're moving at, is five fucking centimeters per second.
>>
It's ok if you don't read too much into it. The idea it represents is very real though: how humans drift apart like sakura petals falling to the ground at a rate of 5cm per second.
>>
>>10217722
She gave up on him because he was pathetic. Then came crawling back for memories.

Seriously. Two pathetic characters in one movie. The only reason it became really popular was because it was so well-drawn. Otherwise it would be on the troll list of anime must-watch lists.

I see you got caught in the OMG THIS ANIMATION IS SO GOOD THEREFORE THIS STORY IS GOOD trap. Seriously. Take a step back and look at it.
>>
>>10217618
did you like it?
>>
>>10217759
Exactly.

That's like how in Cowboy Bebop, nobody go with Spike at the end, because they are'nt really friends.
>>
>>10217722
I always thought that the scene was a metaphor on how she wasn't there anymore. But I guess you have a more direct interpretation...
>>
>>10217788
No, they stayed behind because they were his friends. It was an honor-type thing.
>>
>>10217358
>>10217358
>>10217358

This, so much.

God fucking dammit, I hate montages. And this may have been the worst placed montage in the history of montagekind,
>>
Nice clouds.

Boring at parts (to build suspense I guess). But good overall. I liked the second part.

This one has no aliens or shit like that and it's easier to relate to the protagonist.

Last part was a bit bad.

But still a pretty good movie.

If you liked Shinkai's other works then you'll like this. If not, just watch it for the awesome eye candy.

When you watch it, remember that at the start it was set 10 years ago, and the last part is set in present.

>>10217599
>>
>>10217776

What, real people with real reactions make you RAGE ?
That was exactly the point of the story, so it must have been a success since you seem to have understood it.
>>
moral of the story is life sucks
>>
>>10217809
>>
>>10217809

Yeaaaah, right. Like in Samurai Champloo, they all go their separate way at the end because of their honor ? Get a clue already.
>>
>>10217722
How exactly does that make tears well up in your eyes?

You either feel disgust or pity for the guy for not being able to get over his former love interest and not even trying to fix things.

Only other explanation is that you people realize that your as much as a failure as he is.
>>
This thread is making me get pissed off all over again.

Fuck you, 5 centimeters per RAGE.
>>
>>10217865
He made a mistake that any of us would make. If you ever where in love you will be sad.
>>
I seriously thought he was sending text messages to the girl in the second part and 3rd part.

But when I found out otherwise, I raged. Fucking faggot.
>>
>>10217865

What are you talking about? By the end of the movie he completely forgot about her, and she forogt about him.
>>
>>10217882
Samurai Champloo guys were still friends when they parted.

>>10217830
All reactions in anime are real and possible. Almost.
>>
>>10217801
>>I always thought that the scene was a metaphor on how she wasn't there anymore. But I guess you have a more direct interpretation...

It begins with a symetric position : each of them reminded of their sweet-sour past of teenage love. Then, as it goes on to their reunification (you see them alternatively, each at a time), you notice the difference of behavior between him and her. The fact that there wasn't any story from HER point of view is quite significant.
Eventually at the crossroad, they meet (of course there is a metaphor : what can be more metaphorical than a crossroad with barriers for a meeting ?). She walks away, he waits (and a long time : two trains).
>>
>>10217908
Actually, I laughed that he made some the same mistakes that I did. I felt a little depressed by the end, but to actually CRY? You people must have some deeper emotional issues than just losing a simple crush.
>>
>>10217942

No, he never gave up on her and by doing so he became a worthless pile of crap with no place in society.
>>
Best clouds ever.
>>
>>10217966
This is one of my favourite scenes of all time.
>>
>>10217976

Not quite. He just quit his job is all.
>>
>>10217926
Tripfags make me almost rage, but tripfags who have no clue is even worst.
Of course they are still friends, but they each go their separate ways : they left each other at a crossroad (again, one) in three differents directions.
The metaphor is CRYSTAL CLEAR here, because it's not even metaphorical.
>>
>>10218011
It's Japan. Kaiji comes from these people. The man is right.
>>
I left a feeling of dissatisfaction.
I personally didn't like it.

Oh look, he's wearing the same clothes.
>>
i don't understand what happen in episode 2
>>
>>10218085
EP2 is about awesome scooters.
>>
>>10218085
Asa his life went on he continued to be ronery.
Despite the fact that there was another girl who had the hots for him.
>>
>>10218061
They should of have this on Blu-Ray, hello 1080!
>>
>>10218104
The Honda Spuer Cub is a light motorcycle, not a scooter.
>>
>>10218104

And surf. And archery.
>>
>>10218061
This should be on Blu-Ray so that I can see clouds in fucking 1080!!!
>>
>>10218104
And bow and arrow shootan.

If these aspects had been combined, 5 cm/s would have been a great action adventure drama
>>
>>10217908
Still a fag. Not once did he said he loved her, not once did he try meeting with her except that one time, he didn't do anything for her. Although anything can happen in between the times of each episode but, it sure looked like he sat on his ass and didn't do shit.

I wish I saved that copypasta about how REALISTIC 5cm is.
>>
>>10218227
It's JAPAN, you silly.

Besides, there is a first KISS in fact you forgot (which by animu standards and in western culture equals SEX IN MISSIONARY POSITION).
>>
>>10218227
He moved to the boonies. High school kids don't have money for plane tickets.

But that fucker should've kept in touch with her through mail / text message.
>>
>>10218227
>>10218217

5cm per sec doesnt pretend to be realistic and you're a faggot for trying to read too deep into it. It's about how humans drift apart from each other over the years and this is even more likely to be so in long distance relationships.
>>
>>10218290
>>But that fucker should've kept in touch with her through mail / text message.

But they kept in touch through mail message. Then, as they grow old, they stop writing to each other (she is the one to stop if you pay attention to the end).
>>
>>10218290
>>But that fucker should've kept in touch with her through mail / text message.

But they kept in touch through mail. Until they stopped (in fact, SHE stopped to write).
>>
>>10218314
>doesnt pretend to be realistic
>It's about how humans drift apart from each other

Sure was realistic there.
