I was not prepared for the feels.
Confirmed for AOTS. Easily.
In my opinion a manga adaptation can't be considered AOTS unless it proves to be superior to its source material.
>an anime can't be the best anime of the year unless it's better than it's source
No that would be Witch Craft Works, but I do love some Silver Spoons.
catchpa: selygri silver
Father of the year.
Shit's been too boring so far to be AOTS though.
its easily been the best episode in the second season at least
Why isn't it logical? If it's an adaptation it has to compete with its source material, and if it's not at least on par then it's shit.
Nah, don't do that.
dont fight the feels
Try reading what you wrote, maybe you'll realize how retarded it sounds.
Dammit /a/, how many of you have disappointed your dads that this hits home so hard?
My daddy loves me, so I didn't get any feels from this. But as I understand it, asian families in particular push their kids hard, so this probably gave all the Japanese watchers/readers empathy.
This entire thread has been "feels" the entire time; don't blame him for having it stuck in his head, at least for this instance.
It's just more of Hachiken making shit appear more dramatic than it needs to be.
Didn't hit home at all for me, and my parents used to beat me when I got Cs.
A bit, but certainly not as much as the whole debt and failed business thing.
But it doesn't sound retarded at all.
If an adaptation of a good manga fails to be at least on par with the source material, how can it possibly be considered good?
Likewise if an adaptation of a bad manga fails to improve on its source material and actually make it good, well you get the idea.
So if an adaptation isn't as good as or better than the manga, then surely it has failed.
The Silver Spoon manga is better than the anime so I argue that it can't be considered AOTS because there are anime original shows this season that succeed in being at least somewhat entertaining without having any source material to adapt.
Who cares? OP used it, it's internet lingo, easy to type. I'm not making an essay, I'm chatting.
And OP was a faggot. Do you wish to be a faggot? For a chat, you don't see emoticons here much, do you?
I am a faggot. Using internet words/abbreviations is fine for a chat, though I also agree things like "LOL XD" of course do not belong. Why, we're even using the abbreviation for original poster.
So you're saying that even if Gin no Saji is the most entertaining anime of the season it doesn't matter because it's an adaptation. Being an adaptations somehow takes away it's merits? You're trying to say that just because the story and characters weren't created specifically for the anime you can't count them as positive points of the anime or something?
And nobody has any qualms about that. Many people for 'feels' because they inevitably flew in from one of the other shithole boards.
Even if it's worse than the source material, it's the best show of the season if it's the best show of the season.
Not him, but it's retarded because, you're comparing it with non-anime from a different time period. It's not competing for "best work of all time" but "anime of the season".
That'd be like saying some baseball team isn't the best of the season, because they aren't better than the version of their team from 10 years ago.
So an anime can be worse than its source material while still being better than every other anime of the season.
So if we theoretically got a BONES styled ending, would that make it a canidate for AOTS, as it veered off the course that it was originally set on?
That's ridiculous anon. If it got a BONES ending it would become such a shit tier anime that we wouldn't even consider the possibility of it being anime of the season.
I think you can count them as positive points when it comes to the voice acting and such. But yeah essentially what I'm saying is I think an "ok" anime original show is better than an "ok" adaptation of a good manga.
>Even if it's worse than the source material, it's the best show of the season if it's the best show of the season.
>So an anime can be worse than its source material while still being better than every other anime of the season.
It's pretty sad that this is the case, no?
stop use it's wrong
I agree with you when it comes to my own measuring of shows, mostly because I don't think it's 'fair' to compare an adaptation to a work (especially to one I already like) that is completely original, since it doesn't already have source material to pull on and improve on. That's why I will rarely say that an anime adaptation of a manga is one of my favorite anime, although Kaiji is still on my 3x3 because overall I think it's better than the manga.
Still, I can see what other people mean by saying that the quality of the work overall is better than several others, but personally there are a lot of shows this season I think are better than Silver Spoon so I wouldn't even rank it AOTS, but that might also be because in general I don't care for 1:1 manga adaptations since they're boring.
But could it be eligible? If the guy is arguing that by being based off of a manga, it is ineligible for AOTS, then by veering so far off from the manga it could hardly be called the same, would it be eligible for that?
Haha, no that would be terrible.
I wonder if a Gonzo ending would be worse though.
>It's pretty sad that this is the case, no?
Not necessarily, it depends on how good the source material is.
That baseball team from ten years ago might've just been that good.
Is it so hard to type 'ing'? You have feelings Anonymous. And I have feelings about you too.
best anime is the anime, that is better than all other anime, other factors don't matter
