New The Gamer chapter out, this shit is getting more and more glorious.
Just imagine having options for your life, do want.
So, no one reads this? Surprised since it's pretty fresh.
I just read it, actually. It's fun.
Also, grind your healing abilities, motherfucker. Any dumbass can hurt someone, healing is much rarer and more useful. If you'd been leveling your debuff dispel, you would have just solved the whole damn plot right there.
Don't you need to have some afflicted by whatever to level up dispel?
>reading korean shit
>reading /v/ tier shit
Yes, and the biggest problem is that his gamer inate ability makes his body able to recover all status effects after a night of sleep, so he can't simply learn healing by getting himself sick so easily.
He would have to go to a hospital or something.
I'm loving it too.
I'd be paralized in stat distribution without first knowing if there was a level cap.
I still don't get why he's hiding from his mom tho, he told his friend and his whole martial arts school, but his mom who seems to have over 9000 powerlevel is just ignored.
No, because it's just a side effect of his heal skill.
He could grind his endurance, his heal (including the dispel,) his athletic ability, his mana regen, and attempt to develop a "fly" skill by finding something moderately high and jumping off repeatedly. Climb, jump, heal, climb, jump, heal, mana regen, climb, jump, heal, until you learn to hover. Or at least super-jump and ignore falling damage.
That's easy, from every 5 points go 2 luck, 2 wisdom and 1 int.
Then you become a mastermind who uses others to do his bidding with the wisdom and int and luck keeps you alive.
Yeah, first priority in stat distribution is obvious.
"What if I fuck up my stat distribution? I'm not smart enough to do this!" So pump Int and Wis, be less dumb.
Or just put everything into Luck every time, become comedy harem protagonist.
I'm pretty sure he already ignores falling damage, that first illusion barrier in which he jumped from the roof running from the slime he said he barely felt any pain and didn't have any damage. I'm guessing that as long as his HP recovers, he can recover a limb or two without a problems. Because of his ability, any damage is translated in HP.
Because his Mom's been hiding something from him, too.
It's likely that he doesn't suffer any kind of decrease to his athletic ability as long as he isn't hit with a status effect, even if he's got only 1% of his health.
So you could hit him as much as you wanted, but he'd suffer no damage unless he was saddled with [Broken Limb] or died.
I would assume that there are probably serious status effects or "illness" that don't (completely) dispel in bed. That girl's probably got one.
The girl isn't affected by the Gamer system directly.
Yeah, but note how Obvserve describes that status effect as eventually killing its host despite constant healing.
I would have immediately hit Video with my entire fucking fist, it's just too hard to ignore. What if you could increase resolution? Or framerate? Would your vision improve?
And conversely, what if you decreased your video options?
>turn off dynamic shadows
>everybody has shadows that don't match the lighting
or increase view distance
I'd be surprised if negative status effects weren't broken down into types, the way most games do. So maybe you've got the easily cured Injury types, the moderate difficulty Illness ones, and the really stubborn Curses.
If you think about it, what Jee-Han did was probably pretty remarkable. His healing technique is rare enough as it is. Only most people can't use it to cure status effects because they don't have those nifty Soul Stones, or at least not a large pile of them to burn like that.
If we guess that the black magician is doing all this to cure his daughter, or at least to keep her alive, then Jee-Han just did him a massive massive favor.
That would be a good one.
FoV would be interesting too.
And what about other options? Subtitles? Sound sliders? BGM?
As the translator pointed out, it seems the author easily forgets what he wrote in precious chapters: the recovery skill's descrioption says that it can remove status effects and, with a soulstone, also cure illnesses (in the chapter he said that with a soulstone it could remove status effects, even though he pasted the real description behind that text).
So we know that there are, at least, those "injury" status effects, illnesses and probably curses. You pretty much summed it up, yeah.
He should ask her dad to let him periodically heal her in return for teaching him that teleportation techique. He'd get to grind his healing skill, get his hands on that awesome skill, and trigger a romance flag to boot.
Honestly, I would be *a bit* afraid of messing with anything prone to require you to exit the application before applying changes. Specially when that application could be the ability, or it could be life.
>The Gamer must be restarted before these changes can be applied. Restart now? Y/N
Jesus Christ how horrifying.
MMOs don't have that sadly, and from the looks of it he's in an MMO setting.
And cranking up quality too much would probably end up with him losing FPS. And I would learn some ice spells before even attempting overclocking, as I wouldn't want an embolism.
Though maybe turning quality down could be used to his advantage. Don't most supra-competitive oldschool arena FPS players play with quality all the way down to identify enemies more easily?
I've long dreamed of a protagonist with quicksave/quickload and nothing else. It's essentially nerfed time travel.
>Turn quality to max
>FPS drops to nothing
>Use the minimal framerate as a sort of bullet time
Can he experience lag? How would that even work?
>framerate proportional to time
This isn't the 90's mate.
He'd probably just have time still pass normally, just experiencing it in stills. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akinetopsia
It's like everyone in the world is King Crimson but him.
Actually, consider this: do you really think reality would be coded with such modern-day standards?
>real life is an archaic program written with terribly written ancient code
Time to complain on the forums.
What are you even on about?
Yeah, I thought that would be the other most likely case. It depends on whether his ability makes him the "server" when it comes to his abilities affecting reality, or if he's just another "client" logged on to the MMO of life.
I'm saying that nobody codes in such a way that locks the speed of the game to the framerate anymore, so even if your FPS drops time would go at the same rate, but as >>102162364 points out Life is a rather old release.
No, not really. Very few games nowadays operate on frame time (that is, with frames being the units of time). That includes MMOs to a very special degree, as it would make absolutely no sense for them to perate on frame time.
>Enable Third Person View
I need this to happen
How awkward would it be to control your body from a third person perspective
That's basically Solid Snake's power. He can have his back to a wall but still see what's around the corner.
>he needs to stealth
>turns on Third Person
This would kill me.
Fair enough, I play far too much Minecraft, which does operate on frame time.
Haha, that reminds of that new Need For Speed game that if modded to go to 60 fps on the pc played twice as fast.
with framerate based time, if he could lag the game enough he'd be able to move through walls. Not a lot were shittily programmed enough to allow for that though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpEczFoSPeg
He seems to operate off MMO rules instead of console ones anyway. Has he even found any glitches in the first place?
Imagine if he found a clipping error and fell through the ground.
It would make more sense if third person mode activated when being behind cover though, like Human Revolution.
Now THAT would be awkward.
But his ability is that his life becomes like a game.
Specifically, games that he loved to play. Who knows? Maybe the kind of games he played allowed for this kind of crap?
That would have been fucking hillarious.
The father is obviously doing zombie experiment to heal his daughter. Suddenly, gamer.
HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU JUST HEAL HER?!
Cause i am shinin level bro.
MY 40 YEARS OF WORK! YOU ARE FAILING YOUR EXAMS!
What if when he dies he gets to loading screen?
This is some Demonbane level stuff.
I doubt increasing quality will lower FPS, given that "Universe" probably has an infinitely powerful Graphics Card.
Universe? Sure. His brain? Not so much. His nerves and brain probably wouldn't be able the same amount of FPS with more information per frame.
He can probably grind that.
Well, if it's his brain that's the problem, then FPS would be more like your internal clock.
Meaning that a shitty FPS basically means that you're brain stopped working, and in a few seconds, it's already been several hours, and you feel like you're fastforwarding through time.
That's my guess at least.
Sure they would, his brain is not rendering the universe, no matter the level of detail his eyes take only as much data as his eye's resolution allows.
Not if it only applies to the visual-processing deparment of his brain though. But messing with the CPU's internal clock might be a good way to do bullet time, if a risky one because, well, electro-migration can be a serious issue.
Would he respawn? Or would he have to re roll?
>Restart the game for settings to take effect
He probably has autosave every morning when he wakes up. My guess would be groundhog day.
> increase view distance
> your life starts stuttering.
>decrease view distance
>buildings suddenly appear when you get closer
>decrease view distance to minimum
>fire a long range rifle or a railgun
>literally shoot through buildings, because they appear slower than the bul
You guys are all missing the most important question. It's already been established that his Gamer abilities are based on a single-player setup. It's more like Diablo than World of Warcraft.
Does his Options menu come with a Difficulty slider?
>his Gamer abilities are based on a single-player setup
> mc finds the debug console
I like the MC. He actually experiments with his power and spends time thinking about what he should do with it. Too many MCs start off with a clearly defined goal or are in a situation where the next step is always obvious.
Guys, guys GUYS
You guys are forgetting the most important thing:
That is an interesting question, really.
The "Game" is clearly an RPG, but whether or not it's an "MMO" is unclear, so it's possibly a single-player based game.
A difficulty setting sounds ridiculously over-powered tho.
>He actually experiments with his power and spends time thinking about what he should do with it
He doesn't experiment enough. If -I- found out there was an "Options" window for my powers that have changed my life, I would look through each option thoroughly, before continuing into the ID.
Same with the Escape skills and such. Why not try to create a speed type move, or something, with mana-to-feat or something like that..?
I seriously hope he doesn't try to mod his life like people do with skyrim
This is a pretty entertaining read.
However, it's not manga so I don't if it should really belong in /a/.
I remember vaguely a mod/moot saying that manhwa and manhua(the chinese knockoffs) are fine here.
Look like deviantart shit to me
Difficulty setting might be okay in a PvE context if EXP scales with difficulty, but if it affected other people too then it would be downright awful because he'd just turn it all the way down every time and lay on the rape.
And I'd say it's a MMO type game, it's implied by the party UI functionality.
Probably the relatively flat coloring.
Eh, the art isn't that bad.
However, it might have integrated a number of game genres into it's mechanics.
Yeah, it doesn't seem that bad, but it looks like the artist doesn't put too much effort into it.
Who cares . Story-wise it's triumphs most of better drawn series.
>Yeah, it doesn't seem that bad, but it looks like the artist doesn't put too much effort into it.
It's kind of like ONE's works in that way. It's not good art, but it's enough to tell the story.
Seconded. Plus c'mon, it's basically a fancy webcomic. I doubt there's enough money involved to hire the assistants a published manga needs.
The art's tough to go by, but the story and setting is interesting enough if you're an enthusiast about living in a game.
I hope he learns more magic soon. Magic-users are the master race.
picked the fuck up
>Graphics set to low
>MC sets graphics to medium
>art style becomes relatively better, author has been saving his good skills for that moment
Scenes and backgrounds suck, but the character designs aren't bad and for full 20-30 pages of full coloured panels that don't take months to release I don't mind it at all.
New girl's a qt.
I would laugh so hard if that happened
This is an official Naver comic, so they're getting paid to produce it.
Green still best
>deliberately draw worse for 20+ chapters for a gag
This would be some modern art shit right here.
>korea deviantart webcomic
Heh, no wonder why their shitty industry crash
That would be brilliant.
Right. But there's a difference between "paid enough for one creator to turn out a weekly webcomic" and "paid enough for a lead creator and several assistant artists to turn out a weekly published comic".
Even if those assistants aren't paid as much as the lead guy, you're still looking at double or triple the cost.
You reading a deviantart web comic anon
Yeah yeah,we got your point already. But do you seriously have nothing better to do? You could be fapping, there's a sadpanda thread up.
The potential of almost any skill he gets is broken as shit, like if he grinds pic related enough he could begin making legendary weapons and shit
That's basically the point of his power.
While they seem lame at first glance, within the context of a normal game, they become retardedly over-powered when the logic is applied to the real world.
Had he figured out how to access console commands yet? Maybe get some hacks in, etc.
I'm guessing when he gets enough points in his Observe skill, he'll be able to learn other peoples' abilities just by seeing them in action. That sounds broken as fuck though.
No, it will just start describing more and more things, including but not limited to their past mental trauma, underwear they have on, state of arousal, 3 sizes, frequency of showering/teeth-brushing, which hand they wipe with, which hand they fap with, and whether or not they ate breakfast that morning.
All this and more in ever-increasing detail as it levels up.
>Not putting it all in luck
I wonder if his Observe skill will go as far as making a 100 page biography on a person, at some point.
And I wonder if this information can just be dumped into his mind, in the same way he learns skills.
oh, those wonderful supreme commander battles where I slowed the game down so much that I had infinite bullet time.
So we hit another romance flag, other than the tsundere red hair girl, what else does /a/ want to see? I really want a cheese cake sorcerer type.
Oh and his best friends older sister I guess too.
Anyone have his current stats/skills/abilities?
I wonder if he can branch his observe into some kind of level based telepathy? He doesn't have a CHR/Charisma stat though
Some guys over on the Batoto forum have all his stats organized on a Google Drive spreadsheet.
Time to go wreck shit
So then, does this mean Jee-han becomes the villain for the power of Teleportation?
Wait, how long has he been The Gamer? 10 days? He's fucking broken as a character. He better throwing galaxies around by chapter 100.
remember though, his friend warned him about using it too much, apparently the universe starts backfiring on you if you try to alter too much for your personal gain.
Is this fucking Ragnarok Online?
Well I can't wait to see him fight angels and eventually god in that case.
>over the top crazy battle for the fate of the universe
>finally gets an edge and defeats god
>You have received a new message
>God: gg wp
o shit yea son, "demon's invasion" came up in this chapter. How long until we see sum demons up in this biatch?
Jae-hun is gonna go zap motherfucker when it comes push comes to shoving with Demons.
Which begs the question...
PM Chat system?
So, what'll happen is that he'll ask to be taught that teleport skill in return for helping out his daughter.
But the guy will explain that's it's a very complicated and long process to learn.
So he'll ask him to write a small book detailing how to learn it. This will create a skill book.
If anything, he's no longer the villian but the person that needs help. Redhead may actually be the villian!
God damn it you people I did not need an existential crisis right now. I had one last year already.
>thread is not filled with "gookshit take it to >>>/co/", opposition, and shitflinging from both sides
What the fuck happened?
Because it doesn't belong on /co/ you idiot.
Too many people interested in discussing the abilities mechanics and applications.
Hell, the chapter before last settled the Wis/Int debate some time back too.
Pretty sure this is MMO-based and not single player-based on the chapters where he and his buddy group up and so he can get powerleveled. There are even jokes about naming the party- something about buses, I have a feeling that is a Korean MMO thing.
>deviantart web shit
>not belong on /co/
>something about buses, I have a feeling that is a Korean MMO thing.
"Bus" as slang for a high level character helping lower level characters gain XP quickly. In my circles we called them cheese runs, because of how cheesy it is to trivialize the game content by having a higher level character slaughter everything for you.
>God: bann3d haxx0r
>Viet Cong names
>tfw his mom is god
>I am a gamer. Not because I don't have a life, but because I choose to have many
Look like the new chuuni thing with deviantart art. No wonder why autism hipster like it
>Us gamer, right ? XD
What a divine grace from deviantart community , so deep
>Reading second-rate manga
>Not expecting protag to be generic mceveryman
>It's just manga with terrible art, flat coloring, with gook name
Can't till if hard-core bandwagon, or samefag.
So yeah, Sung-Ah best girl.
