How come SoL hasn't lost the momentum it picked up in the early 2000s? Sure its easy to make and the ones that sell well tend to do very well but at the same time theres a crap ton of them that bomb hard and fade into total obscurity within less than 2-3 years. In fact, its the majority of them that do this.
Because it's a good genre with many gems and dedicated fans. There's no reason for an entire genre to disappear
So you're from /b/
A-Channel was fucking garbage I could name you a bunch of shitty ones for each good one
as long as tehre are people out there who have no life soL will never die
I wasn't aware bumping something made you from /b/. Though technically we all came from /b/ unless you came here after the split that is.
I came for hentai, stayed for anime.
You bumped with a "bump" instead of something quasi-related.
You bumped after three minutes on /a/. Threads typically survive 1-2 hours unless Free happens.
Is hentai discussion even allowed here anymore?
Yeah, bumping after 3 minutes makes you from /b/, no other board moves fast enough to warrant that
Because anime is largely just advertisement for VN, LN, manga, and the such.
I don't know, I lurked /h/ a long time ago until I realized the board was slow as fuck.
It took mecha over twenty years to lose momentum
Last time i was there it seemed like people still used it as a shitty version of /r/ and said shit like "post more rei" or "post your favorite picture". I think they got a sticky but it probably hasn't changed anything.
Well even if its a stupid as fuck harem with poor writing, IS still categorizes as a mecha and as a result is still relevant to that genre.
He wasn't saying the genre should die off, its just weird that its persisted for so long despite the fact there aren't any exceptionally important series in the genre. Going off of what >>102155294 said for example, there is no SoL equivalent to Macross, NGE, or Gundum nor does it have roots like mazinger and getter. Its kind of hard to wrap your mind around the fact its been steadily increasing for almost 1 and a half decades now without there being any kind of major cultural phenomenon or exceptionally popular show on par with the aforementioned ones..
K-On is more popular than Macross
Sazae-san, Chibi Maruko-chan, and Shin-chan are individually bigger deals than the entire world of mecha
Shin Chan is more like a shit head equivalent of the simpsons mixed with home movies and then a shit lot of toilet humor.
