Well, this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I've only played the first two Halo games but I still enjoyed some of the shorts, especially The Package. The Prototype was also pretty good and it even had Shinji Aramaki power armor. What did you think of Halo Legends?
The Package > The Prototype > The Babysitter > The Duel > Homecoming > Origins 2 > Odd One Out > Origins 1
Dragonball Z reference is the best part of the whole series
Babby's first FPS.
Sage for not anime.
Wouldn't that be COD
Halo Legends was anime, though.
Anime based on the game universe.
I found it entertaining.
I'll probably have to rewatch them again to really give an accurate "ranking" between which ones I liked most though.
I liked the Package except one thing
Every single thing that came out of Hasley's mouth (or almost everything anything), was a Cortana quote. Yes, it makes perfect sense because Cortana is based on her, so her having those quips isn't crazy, but holy crap tone it down a little.
Also, they made her blonde for some reason in the shorts. Not that I minded of course, she looked quite nice a blond actually.
What was her hair color in the books anyways? (I don't recall it, if it was mentioned)
Regardless, the studios were apparently given a large degree of freedom.
Odd One Out is probably among my least favorite, but it was rather amusing regardless.
Of the others... I haven't seen them in so long, so I've mixed the named up on them.
Hasley's hair color was black before it turned gray, according to the wiki, it has been a long while sense I read any of the novels so I'm just going to have to trust them on it.
Just a word of advice, avoid watching Odd One Out after The Prototype like I did, the tone shift is enough to give you wipelash.
I'm really interested in why they chose to have anime studios (different ones, at that) make all of the films, rather than going with some lame American studio.
Probably because Animatrix was the shit back in the day.
Why not? They had the cash to commission them, and the series was pretty much at the height of popularity, so they could afford to splurge a little. Besides, this is hardly the first Western IP being animated by Japanese studios.
I think halo is a cool guy. eh kills aliens and doesnt afraid of anything.
>directed by Hideki Futamura
Well that explains it.
This guy needs a holiday, as for the games, pick related.
if a Halo anime series happened who would you want to work on it?
SPARTANs don't do holidays. Married to the job, as it were.
If you don't get the reference, you're too young to be here.
To be perfectly honest I don't think it would work, short stories yeah, but a full anime series I feel just wouldn't pan out very well, not to mention I have no idea what the flying hell the new guys are going with five and six at the moment, so I'm a bit pessimistic at the idea.
Didn't Dante's Inferno do the same thing?
If I recall, there have been a couple Spartans who "retired" (too injured for active duty or something) and got married. So there's that.
Also Linda got a nice "vacation", being frozen for the entire first game, in some obscure cryo-chamber.
You could probably adapt the books into a series OVAs and such. Or is that too much? (Granted, it likely won't happen either way)
And much like the game, barely anyone remembers it.
God was Dante's Inferno so forgettable, the only thing I remember was Lucifer's giant balls for some reason
Oh right, her, I forgot about the one that actually did retire due to wounds and got married in the Graphic Novel.
Man that honeymoon must've been awkward.
>The Package higher than The Prototype
Was the giant ape voiced by Wataru Takagi? It has no credited voice actor, but it sounds just like him.
You could, but still can't help but not recommend it. Not to mention Halo isn't as super popular as it was when Legends was released, so convincing them for even a second Legends would be a up-hill battle.
The only thing I remember from Dante's Inferno was the different design every layer. Also, there may have been rape.
I believe Tsutomu Nihei did the chapter Breaking Quarantine for the Halo comic book if you want to check it out. And not related, but he also did a Wolverine manga called Snikt if you fags want to check that out.
Ghosts of onyx by Studio Madhouse
With 7 years of hand drawn visuals
There was definitely rape.
Acutally you know what let's make a list of Western stuff that got these sort of things.
Dead Space (I think it received two even)
The thing with shorts compilations like this and the old Matrix one is that there is a very high chance to get good staff for at least one of them. So even if you don't like the franchise is worth checking for the good shorts.
Playing this on your PS3 causes it to explode.
The Prototype was easily near the top for me but the animation quality, while better than in the other traditionally animated shorts, was insufficient. Still, the power armor was very cool.
The action animation in Prototype was really good.
>the Origins that low rated
you know that the Origins and Prototype are the best parts of it
If I had to guess, I'd say it'd be similar to 2 and 3, except in the place of the covenant, the forerunners and their pets would be the bad guys. Kinda cool how it included humans, their pet dogs and birds as enemies though, I'd love a moe style short about them just for the shits and giggles.
Also, chief going full-shinji-kill mode for the restarting of a war he had to finish would be kinda cool.
What about some shorts of the enemies? I know origins as kinda... unusual, but the others were pretty good.
hey /a/, can you be human?
I had to pick one of the weaker shorts, it would probably be Homecoming.
On one hand, actually showing off the flash clones that replaced the kidnapped children that would later become the SPARTANs is a nice call back to novels, on the other hand they really did some weird things with Doctor Hasley's interactions with Daisy and the SPARTANs, its probably me being anal about this sort of stuff and expecting them to be one-to-one with a character that only relatively recently appeared in the games is probably asking a little too much. Still, I don't hate it, and exploring the darker aspect of the project is always nice (only the novels I think ever go into the details of it, also some of the comics)
The best part of legends.
Couldn't get into the games & haven't watched Legends. But, I did enjoy Forward Unto Dawn.
>Forward Unto Dawn
I still need to finish that one of these days
On the topic of Halo, what would you like to see in Halo 5 so that it isn't objectively the biggest piece of generic trash to ever exist? It would be subjectively the biggest piece of generic trash.
>Sage for not anime.
It is an anime, though.
>Babby's first FPS.
Chief dealing a 'generation gap' style issue with the SPARTAN IVs would be a nice theme to add alongside the whole Cortana issue.
I want a Didact vs Didact space battle with Mendicant Bias on one side
You have a point. An Anime based on Halo's books would be nice, but I doubt they would really garner much attention from western fans, who merely play the games.
Though it might.
But the OVAs idea would still work, if it was made when Halo had more attention on it.
Watched it on netflix, on a whim, and thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. Unlike the much overhyped Mortal Kombat Legacy.
Oh please. There are plenty of FPS titles far more generic, anon. FPS titles so rehashed, they deserve to be released as mappacks and not standalone titles and usually are published by Activision.
You mean upcoming Destiny?
I'd love a ghosts of onyx ova, also you could throw in the loli angle if you wanted to
COD, but multiplat Halo2.0 will turn generic soon enough. Activision really like to annually publish those generic FPS titles, huh?
Though if I have to pick the weakest, it would probably The Babysitter for me, I can't even explain it, I just didn't feel for it that much in comparison to the other shorts, except near the end.
Only thing they got going for them at the moment is the pedigree and those cloaks.
Then again, I have thing for battered cloaks so that really isn't that much of a plus in the long run
Terrible shitting on the lore, already at this point you could see 343i didn't give a shit.
If you didn't know supervising and helping the studios making these was 343is first job after it was formned.
Geez, finally checked out the trailer and it's so obvious that all Bungie did was steal from other FPS titles to make it. Halo, Borderlands, Mass Effect and forced co-op/team missions are all this title is.
i watched it back in 2010 and also just the other day. what a coincidence :D
i fucking loved them, im not a big halo game fan (stopped after halo 2) but these shorts where something else
You knew her for about all for three minutes, anon
YOU CAN'T STOP OUR LOVE
I WILL BE THE BEST HUE-MAN I CAN BE
Halo 2 best Halo
