Well I hope you rewatched it on this lonely Valentine's day.

Dude, Valentine is over! Stop hurting yourself.
Go watch... uh... Cromartie or something.

Me too, anon. Me too.

I don't know which is worse: Takaki for faithfully clinging to Akari whom he will never meet nor love him again or Akari for dumping Takaki and ends up marrying another guy.

Point of the movie is moving on bro, as tough as it may be. Fuck this movie gets me right in the feels
>>
>>102112872
This.

Even if the past was perfect and the future seems to hold nothing that can compare clinging to the past will only make you blind to any happiness that's actually in your reach, because the past is something that you can never have again.
>>
>>102113207
I always refer to the manga ending for closure. In it, you see how every main character is able to achieve a measure of happiness by accepting the past should remain just that - the past. By not clinging to that melancholic time, they find that there is a chance for happiness just within reach and a brighter future awaits them.
>>
>>102114009
>every main character is able to achieve a measure of happiness

Fuck that, I don't want that happiness shit in my melodramatic suffering poetry.
>>
>>102114598
I didn't say they lived happily ever after, or that they were entirely satisfied. But they were better off looking ahead than when they were moping about the past and things lost. Which is the entire fucking point.

What's the name of the anime? I feel like I've seen it but I'm not sure
>>
This movie was shit. I'm not even going to bother saying why because you won't care. You stopped reading when I disagreed with your opinion and already hit the post number to make a reply telling me why my opinion doesn't matter. If I actually had bothered to type out the reasons why I thought it doesn't deserve the praise that it gets and presented my opinions in a concise logical manner you still would have ignored me because you are a bunch of autistic fucks that don't understand good storytelling or art and just want some generic bullshit story you can project yourself into so that you can live the melodrama vicariously and your shallow empty lives can be filled with emotions for just a moment making your empty trainwreck of a life bearable for a few minutes.

Fuck you /a/
>>
First episode was decent
Second episode was a perfect anime
Third episode was decent
One More Time OVA was god-like

TL:DR. Fuck off.

Long ass paragraph posters have no heart therefore you can't enjoy 2CM.

>>
Was 5cm made in 1080p?
>>
>>102114780
One was getting married and the rest was just a half-forgotten memory, one managed to stay friends while still realizing nothing would happen and being able to give up that dream, and one quit everything because his longing for the past destroyed his ability to live in the present.

I liked the contrast that gave. When he waits for the neverending train to pass only to realize that she had moved on, that's such a potent metaphor.

>>102114961
>your shallow empty lives can be filled with emotions for just a moment making your empty trainwreck of a life bearable for a few minutes
Well duh, that's the only reason anyone does anything. Now if you were to give actual points we could discuss this shit.
>>
>>102114961

So rather than concisely type put why you don't like the movie you decided to use your paragraph to rant about the people who like the movie. Right... As for the part about the audience projecting themselves onto the characters that's kind of the point. With such a simple romance story I think everyone at one point or another has experienced something similar to it, like with the movie 500 Days of Summer.

The story doesn't need to be over elaborate, I'll sound pretentious for saying so but the simplicity makes it "human" which is something that lets everyone relate to it. Plus the art was fucking great.
>>
>>102108438
It causes me physical pain to watch this.
>>
>>102115324
The only thing I didn't like about it was how little was happening, that meandering with MC in certain parts. Or maybe I've remembered it wrong and I'm thinking of something else.
>>
>>102115064
>One More Time OVA
What's this?
>>
I really enjoyed it the first time watching but it felt strangely dull the second time. Reading Punpun in-between probably didn't help either.
It might be stupid comparing it to a manga but I thought it handled the same themes much better.
>>
>>102115810

Ah I know what you mean, it was a bit slow at times when the MC gets stuck on that train for a bit but the hours he was stuck there set up the whole scene where they have to stay at that old shack cuddled together.
>>
>>102114961

Sweet copypasta. Totally applicable to /tv/ /co/ and of course /a/.

Too bad all Shinkai films are tryhard, pretentious trash.
>>
>>102116857

Another great movie. Makoto Shinkai makes some pretty good ones, a few are only okay but the rest are amazing.
>>
>>102116996
He's my favorite director, as I am both a weeb and a hipster.
At least I am able to convince myself that he's not really popular, but I'd really like it if I could just not be a huge faggot at all.
>>
>>102116995
>tryhard, pretentious love stories
Okay
>>
>>102117075

Haha, I'd say he's getting really popular, when Miyazaki actually does retire instead of trolling everyone about it Shinkai will likely fill his shoes.
>>
>>102117340

Jesus christ fuck off.

I've watched 5cm several times and every time I re-watch it the more I dislike it. Shinkai can't storytell.

Trains are fucking evil what else is new
>>
>>102119978
True, the storytelling is pretty weak and the setup is nothing special. The whole thing gets by thanks to a strong sense of tone and great metaphors that stick to the central theme.

It's like a poem that uses fancy language and exuberant imagery to make a simple or downright nonsensical subject matter seem deep and touching.
>>
>>102116561

>realizing that many of you are trying to explain closure in a board infested with people incapable of let go and/or grow beyond nostalgia for the littlest things

Wrong. The people who didn't like the movie were the ones that are able to let things go and move on, relating more with MC's love interest.

The ones that do like that movie are the little bitches who could self-insert with the MC and had problems with letting things go.
>>
Just thinking about the movie makes me sad.

Where my doraemon with a time machine? Sigh.
