I just finished this series and wow, it was easily the best SoL I've ever seen. I teared up at the end when Takashi finally got his happy ending.
Now you wait for the OADs to be subbed and read the manga.
One of the OVAs just got subbed today.
Now we wait for another season. San and Zoku were my favorite seasons.
Same here. I would've like the last season the most if it weren't for that last arc with the bitchy girl.
What's everyone's favorite episode/arc? Mine is pic related.
Mine would be the episode where he first meets the fujiwara's
the dragon arc and the fox shota
Not even the prettiest girl in the show.
thw hole series is just so comfy and heart warming, I remember watching the second season on winter under a blanket while drinking hot tea, I hope it gets a new season
>tfw no youkai friends who would do anything for you
If you enjoyed Natsume then try watching Mushi-Shi next. That helped fill in the void for me. Kino's journey is another good one
I actually watched Mushishi and KnT before Natsume, honestly I wasn't a big fan of either. Neither of them were very heartwarming, plus the dull color palettes were a bit dreary too.
What you're looking for then is Aria the Animation
I've always thought I would like Aria but never picked it up for some reason. Will probably start it now, thanks.
You should try Aria if you haven't see yet. I loved Natsume, but Aria is by far the best SoL and Iyashikei animu that I've ever watched
I watched Mushishi before Aria and Aria before Natsume. Aria and Natsume easily made my favorites compared to Mushishi. I preferred the more lighthearted and stories in Natsume and Aria. You can't really grow attached to Mushishi since it's more of an atmospheric show.
Also, Aria and Natsume provide more of an satisfying end.
Mushishi S2 soon at least.
Same here. Mushishi seems like it would appeal more to the Abe Yoshitoshi crowd than Natsume fans.
I have a feeling it might surpass the previous season considering there will be more backstory on Ginkgo.
Great, a Natsume thread.
And I was just about to watch the OVA.
Lost it at that filename.
Is that from the LaLa OVA?
Could be, I don't keep check since I haven't gotten around to rewatching the series yet.
Ano Hi Time Machine is my favorite OP song of all time though.
The OST is also my favorite alongside Horizon. In the summer I always go swimming at a nearby lake in the forest like three in the morning, and walk home on country roads during sunrise while listening to the main theme and first ED.
My favorite song from the Natsume OST is the main theme from Zoku:
>In the summer I always go swimming at a nearby lake in the forest like three in the morning, and walk home on country roads during sunrise while listening to the main theme and first ED
That sounds really peaceful anon, I'm jealous.
Natsume brings warmth to so many people and youkai. Whenever I think about the people and things trying to hurt/use him, I get really upset.
Just finished the LaLa special and new OVA or whatever. I miss this show guys, was there going to be another season coming out?
Anyone think Natsume looked a little, older in the OVA? The animation style looked a little different than from my memory of S4, but not in a bad way.
Everyday until season five.
not that i can recall.
any chance you could point me towards the lala special?
Given how well the show is selling, I'd be surprised if we didn't get another season as soon as there's enough manga content.
Not him but
It sells really well so probably.
By the way, I was thinking of starting to read the manga though I've heard that it's a lot more dark than the anime, is that true?
Why is Natsume such a free spirit?
I didn't notice. Maybe you just thought that because he's juxtaposed next to little kids in the OVA.
No, in plot its very similar to the anime. The manga art is verry plain though and takes away from the charm of the anime, personally I would not recommend it.
I'm not so sure about it being darker, but Natsume's character is a lot meaner and stand offish than he is in the anime. Also Sasada's character is written out/moves away im the manga at the beginning (they keep her character around in the anime)
But generally, not that different.
only slightly related, but natsume is the only show where the style changes from season to season don't make me rage. probably because i'm too grateful for new episodes to care
Please don't sexualize Natsume.
I feel like the style changes were subtle, cause I never noticed them while I watched them as they aired. And it only got better looking at it went on.
Have you ever thought about trying to become rich and fund more seasons for shows you like yourselves?
Almost every day. First two I'd fund would be Aria and another season of Natsume. We still need Aria in BD quality.
Dunno about Aria but I'm sure Brain's Base would be more than willing to make more Natsume considering past sales and merchandising. The manga author just needs to hurry up and create enough content.
I'd like Natsume, more SZS and a [C] remake.
And who knows, if I get a steady job, work a lot of overtime, live like I've had until now and invest all of my money in bonds I might be rich in thirty years.
>The manga author just needs to hurry up and create enough content.
It's even worse since she put Natsume on a bi-monthly release now. So even slower new content.
That's bs. She doesn't even make anything else besides Natsume.
Am I the only one who thinks that Natsume and Moomin are pretty similiar series?
Both are heavily athmospherical and usually have an episodical plot about encountering some new being or going on an adventure in a nearby area.
Except that Natsume is more mature and has character development that you couldn't expect from a kids' show, of course.
Either way it's only a matter of time before BDs for Aria is released but yeah I do agree that a remake is unnecessary. Only thing I'm longing for was if it was made with modern animation and more consistent art like in the manga. >>102112850
Will you still love anime then as you do now though? Funding an anime solely by one person is pretty dam expensive though especially in our time is it not?
There was two seasons to this anime right? I forgot what happens at the season finale and I just want to make sure I didn't miss a season. I think they find a dragon boy inside a little vase or something?
Never heard of it.
And with how popular the series is, I'm sure she has at least one or 2 assistants. And the art in Natsume isn't that detailed either.
Maybe, she had a baby or something? I have no idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was personal reasons for the change.
There were 4 seasons.
Is there a Japanese name for that black figure that kept following Natsuume at a very snail pace?
Kind of. Moomin is more like Winnie the Pooh than anything. If I had to compare Natsume to any show that isn't Mushishi I'd probably say Gin no Saji.
When you say 4 seasons, do you mean 4 separate debutted seasons or did they just title them 4 seasons but aired them closely within each other's airdate where it seemed like 2 seasons?
Because I am not sure if I watched all of it or if there is still more to go. I finished what was there in 2008-09. The recent episode I can remember is the dragon kid they adopt.
I don't remember any dragon kid, are you sure you're talking about Natsume?
And all of the Natsume seasons are 2-cour so there's no reason you should've confused them.
That's something I've been thinking about, that one's priorities might change if you put all your energy into just making money.
Honestly I don't think it'll change though, seeing as how my interest in Japanese media haven't lessened in the least since I've moved around, changed jobs, etc.
It's an old, swe-finnish childrens' series adapted into anime format quite some time ago, quite a lot of people here watched it when they were kids, if you're part of that generation.
This one >>102110754
There are 4 separate seasons with 13 episodes each.
The first aired in the summer then the second in following winter season (summer 2008, then winter 2009).
Then season three summer 2011, and season four winter 2012.
He's talking about the youkai who hatched as a human since Natsume was the first being she glanced upon. She then evolves into her dragon being once they become independent. How can you forget this episode anon? It was cliche but still decent.
The dragon kid was like episode 2 or 3 of S2.
Aria and haibane.
Tama-chan makes me cry every time. It just wanted Natsume to join him/her in the nest together ;_;
Okay, then seasons 2 was the last episode I watched. I should pick it up again.
Watching it now, betting on that it's searching for a snow lantern.
What is the scariest youkai in this series?
Which one is the most sympathetic?
Pic related was disturbing.
The best youkai was the teacup that killed itself to protect Natsume.
Pic was pretty creepy, most threatening I thought.
Youkai from Natsume's past was probably most sympathetic, the one he thought was a human.
Well that was way better than a snow lantern.
He already has sensei anon.
Was that the nyanko-sensei theme in season 1?
Wasn't it when those two youkai came chasing after Natsume?
i just finished season 1. It was alright It was quite heartwarming. I liked that Natsume wasn't a complete whiner, and got stuff done.
