Am I the only person that was kind of disappointed that SAC and the two Ghost in the Shell movies weren't set in the same timeline?

The ending of the first season would have been a perfect way of leading into the events of the original 1995 movie.

The Shirow's GitS manga and Arise are different timelines too.

If SAC and Oshii's films were the same universe than the drastic change in mood would be shitty.

Also Innocence came out after SAC 1st GIG so the continuity would make no sense.

They made a good decision letting SAC be it's own timeline, as a drastic change of staff and direction is a jarring change for a series.
