>Kaiji will never get a third animated season
I HATE IT
when HxH finish
The third arc is pretty bad, unless you want 14 episodes of Kaiji looking for mahjong tiles on the ground
>unless you want 14 episodes of Kaiji looking for mahjong tiles on the ground
As long as the they get the narrator id be fine with that
I'd rather have Madhouse animate Zero or Kurosawa.
>the bog arc is pretty bad, it's jut 12 episodes of Kaiji watching balls go into holes
Kaiji can make anything hype. ANYTHING.
I'd prefer more Akagi
or Ten for that matter
It's maybe not as exciting as part 1, but it needs to be made just for the sake of having animated Muroaka.
>I'd prefer more Akagi
What even happens in Akagi after Wasis-whatever Mahjong?
Washizu dies and then suddenly he's trying to organize an oni rebellion in Hell or something like that, from what I've seen (I can't read moon).
Their battle ended pretty recently. I have no idea what Fumumoto will be doing with those Hell shenanigans though.
>What even happens in Akagi after Wasis-whatever Mahjong?
It hasn't ended yet. Ten takes place many years after that "legendary night" when Akagi is an old man.
This show was awesome....but I've never seen a man cry so much.
Points for realism, some guys are some bitches when shit gets real.
I think needing some basic knowledge of Mahjong makes people apprehensive about Kaiji S3. Akagi was a really good series and all but you feel like you only get half of it if you don't know anything about Mahjong.
OST 1 >>>> OST 2
Prove me wrong
It's the worst arc, but it still is great.
That being said Kurosawa or Zero would be better. I'm enjoying Ten so far but I'm only a few volumes in, so I can't really judge how bad I'd want to see it animated.
You really only need the basics to enjoy all of the mahjong in FKMT, that being said the more you know the better.
Ten adapted would be godlike and worshiped for an eternity.
Are the Kaiji scanlations slow or is the current chapter still giving the foreign guys backstories?
This is looking at Batoto only.
I really can't.
Oh wait, fuck me. They just got updated a few days ago
Ten starts off pretty slow, but ends strong.
I looked at batoto. New chapters got added just yesterday.
Apparently Kazuya said something shocking
I don't fucking know, I haven't read Part 4
As someone who learned Mahjong just to watch Akagi, I'd say that this is half-true.
> I'm enjoying Ten so far but I'm only a few volumes in, so I can't really judge how bad I'd want to see it animated.
Ten really picks up only when the East-West battle starts, then it becomes a train with no brakes in the final battle of East-West, and the last 3 volumes are... pretty much a spiritual experience. You'll see why an animated Ten would be pretty much this >>102101099 when you finish it.
Kaiji gets mad rather easy.
It takes like 4 hours to learn Mahjong. I learnt it for anime but I also ended up really enjoying playing it.
I just play the Saki psp game every now and then to keep me in decent shape for Mahjong media
Fuckin AI are a bunch of cheaters
I've heard Ten's final 3 volumes are the best FKMT's written.
I just got to the start of the East-West battle and I'm hyped.
I know the basics and the names of the tiles and stuff but hands are still a mystery. That being said I haven't really put a ton of effort into learning it.
And he also tells it like it is.
AI always cheat, anything like that in English/romanized?
Guess Part 4's ending's coming soon.
Hopefully Hox will stop complaining now.
>AI always cheat, anything like that in English/romanized?
There are a couple websites for it, cant think of any off the top of my head, but I think theres a general over on /jp/.
You really dont need Jap for Saki psp though, I dont speak it at all and it just took me a few minutes to figure out what each option does
No cute girls though.
>I've heard Ten's final 3 volumes are the best FKMT's written.
Yeah. They're really something else, but you might actually want to avoid any discussion related to Fukumoto while you're reading Ten to avoid spoilers.
Also you can use the wikipedia page for japanese mahjong yaku for hands reference.
There are English versions for Saikyou no Mahjong, alongside Akagi and Legendary Gambler Tetsuya voicepacks if you want manly stuff.
But まったり麻雀 is where you'll get (non-cheating) but extremely brutal AI. It's in Japanese but you just need to learn like 5 buttons in order to play it. I made a tetsuya voicepack for it but can't upload it right now unfortunately.
>started Kaiji two weeks ago
>finished S1 in like three sittings
Fuck it was so good. And I can't stop listening to these
>tfw you will never see animated Muraoka or Kazuya
Hey do you guys remember during season two they advertised an online version of Teiai Casino where you could play E-Card and Chinchirorin and shit? I remember being excited as hell to play those games, but I could never find links to it on the official site.
That game cheats/is fixed
Are they really? Damn I should probably read it. I personally think Kurosawa's last volume is the best FKMT thing
But there is no last Kurosawa volume yet since it's gotten a sequel
Which will never get scanned or translated
>That game cheats/is fixed
There was cheating? I only remember the computer getting absurd win streaks, unless that's what you mean.
To me it seems like it cheats, but I'm not sure.
I still can't believe FKMT would do that, the last volume of the original series was a perfect end to it
Which is fucking bullshit, you'd expect some other translator to have read and liked Kurosawa.
>I still can't believe FKMT would do that
It's strange, but he's probably planning some good stuff he could only do with Kurosawa. In any case you can always consider a separate work, as Kurosawa really ends with full closure.
Does anyone have the maximum zawa gif?
I've seen it win terrible waits pretty often
He didn't really die. He's back and looks scary as fuck now.
So, I've seen Akagi and Kaiji, and read Kurosawa.
What next? Read Kaiji or Akagi or go on to Zero or Ten?
Animated Kurosawa pls
>10 volumes of Washizu mahjong
>it's still going to this day
I'm not even joking.
Ten if you liked Akagi more, Zero if you liked Kaiji more
Also watch One Outs
>Also watch One Outs
Afterwards read the rest of the manga, because season 2 never
Ha, this is going to be gud.
What >>102103170 said, but read the rest of Akagi and Kaiji too.
And also watch Legendary Gambler Tetsuya if you liked mahjong.
What >>102103236 says about Akagi is true but it's great nevertheless.
Well, you're going to hit mahjong unless don't read Kaiji or Akagi (or Ten), so unless you like the game, go with Zero for different psychology stuff
>Also watch One Outs
And this, the anime didn't adapt the whole manga, but the scanlation finished a few months ago.
Also read Liar Game
The manga ending sucks though, cheap as fuck.
I felt that way at first as well, but I cant really think how else it would've ended besides how it did, Touchi leaving, his debt fulfilled and the team strong enough to stand alone
Thanks guys. Torrenting Liar Game, One Outs, Kaiji part 3, Zero and Ten. Just a question, around which volume does the Akagi anime end?
Count ten volumes back from the currently-scanlated chapter and you'll find the rough spot.
I pretty much skimmed every 5 chapters until Washizu didn't get his 1 pin and was shellshocked on the couch.
I'm currently at Vol. 17 now and it's been dozens of chapter since that point.
Liar game is great, One Outs also great, Zero is pretty good but not nearly as good as Akagi/Kaiji for the most part
I haven't heard this in years, thanks OP
I think he cries almost every episode of the first season, it's ridiculous. But like you said, when you're in a situation like that it's a typical reaction.
What does everyone think of the live action Liar Game series?
Pretty much the only Jap live action show ive seen
How is it adaptation wise in your opinion?
Never seen Liar Game (reading Akagi right now) but I always think of FKMT works would work perfectly as a novel or film. If they got western actors for it, I honestly think Kaiji would be an award winning film in NA.
17 step mahjong the worst arc?
I know that's just an opinion, but come on. If you know how to play mahjong, it's a great arc.
The twist was great, but it was kind of drawn out
i watched akagi when i was a brat and didnt know mahjong, about 7 years later i actually learned how to play and re watched akagi and holy fuck it increased my enjoyment by 1000%, i marathoned all the arcs until washizu in about 1 day
Has anyone played real majjong before? I saw it played a few times when I went to Japan, and it was literally at least 90% luck.
its basically poker
You're kidding, right? It's easy to win, it's hard to win big. Half the game is winning, the other half is not dealing into other people's hands.
It IS luck.
and reading the opponents discards
Turning your luck into a win is a skill.
This is bait. It might seem that way to a beginner.
Wait, Akagi still hasn't beaten Washizu? What the fuck have they been doing for the past 10 or so years?
This is my huge problem in Mahjong, I have no idea how to know when they're in tenpai or what their winning tile would be, so I just try to discard stuff they already have or people have recently discarded
Good; it sucks.
The show is dragged out far too much, I understand suspense, I love parts of the show, but sometimes I just get bored, they need to shorten it, it is probably more suited to the OVA format than an actual series.
I'm sure I will be flamed for even suggesting such a thing.
No, most fans of the series agree with you. Especially regarding the second season.
You get used to it after a while. It's clear to see what people are going for when they open their hands, but you can more or less read the discards, and varying levels of discards. Akagi even mentioned different discards and what they mean.
But there's always dangerous tiles in general, such as the dragon tiles, which are the easiest way to win, and generally safe tiles are terminals, which people avoid collecting unless going for very difficult yaku, which will be obvious most of the time based on their discards.
The only thing you really need to worry about is when someone is in riichi, because that's an automatic yaku, therefore their hand could be a literal mess of sets.
So why is it like that? Surely somebody in production would have watched it and realised "hang on, this is too stretched out"
I guess they had to fill a timeslot and had to provide the right number of episodes. Although I would still like to see a shortened edit
Most of FKMT works are really stretched out, it's just his style. Great shows for marathoning.
Works like Zero are too quickly.
Because the manga is written in the same manner, its arguably even slower especially in Kaiji. Madhouse clearly wanted to keep the adaptation close to the original, otherwise they would've changed the character designs as well.
>hang on, this is too stretched out
>akagi's washizu arc is more than ten volumes long
Nigga, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Because they're adapting a 160 something chapter long manga and fucking around with it too much will make people angry. FKMT is just reall fucking terrible with pacing in some of his works, basically. It doesn't help that Kaiji is now a one game per arc thing so it's 100+ chapters of Kaiji playing with the same guy (or watching people press buttons) now.
Watch the movie if you want a super abridged version.
Vol 27 is the last raw available, right?
>Watch the movie if you want a super abridged version.
b-but the movie is 3DPD
I felt like it could have been a tiny bit shorter, but I actually like the suspense and length
Although I haven't read Kaiji's manga, the anime art looks a lot better to me than the manga's art does. Same with Akagi
It's also pretty bland because there's next to no build-up compared to the manga
FKMT can't draw to save his life, so Madhouse took liberties and made everything look consistent and good, while keeping his unique style.
>season 2 never
But Chuu-2 and Nyaruko got a second season in less than a year. There is no justice.
They (both) definitely figured out a better style after a certain point.
It's pretty hilarious how early Akagi looks like typical poorly drawn yaoi.
Isn't the anime one because he's 13 at the time of your screenshot?
Yeah, I really hated Kurosawa's art at first, especially Nakane's, then all of a sudden there was this huge shift for me and I started loving Nakane's art.
Didn't happen for Gai or Zero though
Both? The anime is perfectly consistent.
True, but it's definitely rougher than say, the Urabe's arc.
The first episodes look kinda funny compared to the later consistency
Wtf is going on the top left panel, it looks like a baby's head on a giant's body.
You guys should really watch Hanzawa Naoki if you like Kaiji.
"Naoki Hanzawa (Masato Sakai) joined the Tokyo Chuo Bank and becomes the head of the loans division at the Osaka Nishi branch. He is forced by branch manager Asano (Kanji Ishimaru) to grant an unsecured loan of 500 million yen to Nishi Osaka Steel. However, Nishi Osaka Steel goes bankrupt and president Mitsuru Higashida (Takashi Ukaji) along with the 500 million yen disappears."
It was the highest viewed japanese drama in like 10 years.
I have no idea what you mean
What is it about tiny heads and large hands that gets fujoshits wet?
Something about this just looks so off. And it's not his age
Looks fine to me.
His eyes are too close to the sides of his head
>what is every shot of akagi ever
Early Ten was just like this.
His face is too fat maybe? His chin isn't pointy enough?
But yeah I am kinda seeing it now, it looks odd
I always assumed this was a shop. What manga is this, anyway?
The worst thing about Kaiji is that its very hard to stop watching it.
Started watching Season 2 a few hours ago, currently on episode 10, I'm very tired and would like to stop now, but I feel like I can't and won't.
Would Kaiji have more, equal, or less appeal if he was female?
The live action Kaiji films are trash though.
Wait till you start The Bog
That's a hard question. I'd love to see a female gambler, though.
Crying girls make my dick hard so I'd say more.
Can FKMT even write female characters?
Probably less. It would probably be more rape-y too, unless they made the other characters female as well.
Less I think. For some reason I don't see female Kaiji being quite as pathetic.
>Mfw watching the Bog during exams
IT FUCKING HAS TO END NEXT EPISODE, I CAN GO TO SLEEP SOON, ONE MORE EP, THERE IS NO WAY THEY CAN DRAG THIS OUT LONGER
I cant think of a time he tried to be honest
We wouldnt get naked Kaijis cute bare boy butt on the Espoir then
To be honest the second season sucked hard with poor pacing and a lack luster ending.
Welp, there's what's his name's ugly daughter, that convenience store girl, the girl from Kazuya's lover's book, and Endo was female in the movies, but she was a bigger backstabber than male Endo.
There's your answer.
I didn't fucking sleep that night. I thought for sure it'd end soon and there'd be an arc with Hyoudou.
That one lady gambler in Zero, but she was a cheater, then went fucking crazy for Zero cock.
That lady in Zero was lovely.
Well, that female villain in Zero part 2 and that female delinquent in Kurosawa are pretty cool. Can't remember their names because I've been more /co/ than /a/ for the last year or two.
FKMT admitted that he doesn't want a female (main) gambler, so...
Where do flat broke women get sent? Kazuya's rape dungeons?
We don't seen any during chinchiro arc
They probably wouldnt be used for hard labour so
>Kazuya's rape dungeons?
probably isnt far of. Maybe more domestic labour, or they just jump straight to organ harvesting?
hyodo's sex slaves
he's drinking menstrual blood in pic related
>Legend of the Strongest Man Kurosawa will never be animated
I suppose women can't be used for reliable physical labour. They're probably sold into sex work.
That narration made half of the show, God damn.
>We don't seen any during chinchiro arc
Girly Ichijō probably ended up as someones prison bitch didnt he
You think? Is it not popular in Japan?
IIRC there's a girl on the Espoir in the playstation Kaiji game
she gets carried away like the rest when you jew her out of stars
If he was smart, he'd cut his hair on day one and make someone his bitch.
>playstation Kaiji game
W-what? I must get my hands on this.
Does it have Multiplayer? Can I gambruu with friends?
I don't think it's that popular, and even if it was the kaiji anime is just used to promote the live action and the manga, same with Akagi. Maybe there will be one to promote this new Kurosawa manga, but who knows
the TAS is pretty hilarious though
Honestly, I sort of want the anime to end where it is now. I just can't bear seeign Kaiji suffer any more. He made it out. He's free.
yes. yes. yes.
777town allows you to play most fukumoto games. You have to sign up and navigate through a bunch of japanese to play it, though. And then in the end it's not even that good.
Same fucking shit here, man. I mean, after all that talk Kaiji did at the end of S1 about "REMEMBER MY NAME, HYOUDOU" and the fact that, up until the Bog, Kaiji had only played a single game that season, I thought for sure the Bog was going to end and Kaiji was going to face Hyoudou again. Then I thought for sure the Bog was going to end. Then I thought for sure the Bog was going to end. Then I thought for sure the Bog was going to end.
I mean, it was really satisfying when he finally won, but FUCK. I'm pretty sure the Bog was over half of S2.
>still a gambling fiend
Even if the anime ends there and you pretend the manga doesn't exist, Kaiji's destitute future is already set in stone.
>Kaiji as an attractive female
I thought I was supposed to like this, I want to, but it's just so wrong.
He needs to be a male underdog of most common denominators.
I do think that the mahjong arc could be paired with the three friends button press into season 3
really depends on how it's going to turn out
You gay son?
