>time to watch K-On for the first time in years
>start up episode 1
>Yui being a spaz
>all the fucking cliches
>and I haven't even gotten to the diabetes-level-of-sugar OP
What happened to me? Have I gotten too old for this shit?
You seem better with coping with this sort of thing /a/.
It's funny because I reacted the same way on 2009.
Oh gawd, here we go again.
Yui admitting she joined a club where she has no idea how to be a useful member...
So awkward it burns...
Welcome to how anyone with taste felt all along, anon.
You have seen the light, and realized moe is shit. Now, go, and spread your newfound wisdom throughout /a/.
Preferably don't do this, actually. Instead, like what you like, don't like what you don't like, and don't go around shitting up threads about things you don't like. Instead, spend your time discussing things you do like.
I do like K-On.
I just...forgot how to.
Then again now that I think back, I didn't think the show really got good until episode 4 (the beach episode). That may have something to do with it.
When moefags stop shitting up non moe threads, I'll consider it.
But they don't. Show me evidence that they do, and then we'll talk.
>lel watching le shit la shit like a pleb xd
Threads literally every day.
I've always wanted to see HTT dress up like this.
Why are you such a hardass?
I'm a hardass because I want reasonable discussion to take place on /a/?
Also, here's every worthwhile K-ON moment ever.
The whole board is thematically the same. You can't just pick and choose what stays and what goes.
And, because of this, you feel the need to come into moe threads and shitpost there?
Do you understand what the phrase "cycle of violence" means? This is the same shit that causes constant conflict in street gangs.
Just let this shit go. Posts like that are just trolls trying to get you to go out and shitpost on your own, just like what you're doing right now. I hope you know the only reason anybody genuinely does that is because somebody like you came in and shatpost in a moe thread, so they decided to try to get you back.
You have to consciously decide to stop the cycle of shitposting and fanbase wars.
It was never good.
Now you know.
It's even funnier when you realize that the cliche happens in real life.
Me too. I've reacted this way to every idol/girls in high school SoL show ever.
There's no such thing as "growing too old" for certain kinds of entertainment. It has nothing to do with age; you're tastes have changed.
>still a great show
feels good man
But moethreads don't even have a fraction of the shitposting. Just pictures of waifus, and talk of the lewd things to be done to them.
>Have I gotten too old for this shit
More like too young for it, my tastes shifted toward Slice of Life more recently despite being into Naruto and gorey violence in high school
Actually I went through the same thing you did...in 2007 with Lucky Star.
I guess you're a pleb that only ever liked K-On for being cute girls doing cute things instead of appreciating the believable characters, the natural-feeling relationships and the free-flowing dialogue between them, all this set in a world quite like ours, but with a little more fuwa fuwa.
What's so great about K-On?
I though it was JUST another one those shitty slice of lifes where they do NOTHING.
Sorry, I wasn't aware there was more to liking K-On than that.
Not buying it.
Also while the OP is sugary, it's also really good.
It was the best song in the show and it was there from the very start.
What is it that you don't buy?
>Have I gotten too old for this moeshit?
You answered your own question.
No one's that believable in this show...well, except for Azusa. She was like the Frank Grimes of the group.
What actions are hard to believe?
There is no such thing as a "shitty slice of life where they do nothing"
once you understand this, you'll be able to enjoy K-On! and a plethora of other fine anime.
It makes sense if you take into account that Yui is actually mentally underdeveloped.
Feels weird seeing kids just having flip phones as recently as 2009.
Do you even japan?
It makes sense if you keep in mind that like I said, this isn't the real world. This is the fluffy version of the real world were no true hardships exist.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.
>Watching K-ON for the first time years
>Quality seems really shit.
You decided blogging about it on /a/ was your only recourse.
You went wrong somewhere in there.
Yeah, that scene literally just passed for me.
The first season still looks better than your average current season anime.
I'm the exact opposite. I try and enjoy other all girl cast SoLs and I usually can't get into them. But I'll still rewatch K-ON every now and then and I love it. The series is pretty cliche ridden since it doesn't do anything unique in its actual content but the presentation is such that it makes me actually care about the characters, if that makes any sense.
I also think it does get a lot better in the second season when they move away from the traditional 4koma style of it, and add a lot more original stuff.
I preferred the slightly flatter shading they used for season 1 than the deeper shading that was used in season 2.
>I try and enjoy other all girl cast
*I try to enjoy.
For some reason, to me K-On seems really dated now - it seems older than Clannad.
I guess the real "development" of the K-On style that KyoAni uses lately makes the original look dated.
It certainly is. You can't even compare it to something like Nichijou or Hyouka. But it's also not like it's so offensive that it affects the experience.
What about Tamako Market?
That was probably the lowest budgeted show of theirs in several years. I'd say it was probably equal with K-ON S2.
Looks like anon has gained a few levels. Good for you.
To be fair, you can think KlK and moe are both shit.
You somehow managed to age and take yourself more seriously. Loosen up asshole.
Me too, though I actually like the movie's style the most, which seems odd to me as it's only slightly different than season 3. Maybe it fitted its format better.
But they did alot.
In fact, I'm sure they did way more that you did with your time in high school.
I finally decided to watch the K-On! movie. Watched for three minutes and turned it off. What the fuck did they do to the characters?
>tfw never seen K-On because I'm afraid to love it
K-On, like Nichijou, is hit or miss. You will either love it and be able to appreciate it for what it is, or hate it and join the leagues of people who bash it for being plotless SOLshit,
Regardless of outcome, you should go watch it, if anything to just be witness of it. Pic related is the true OTP, and I hope you at least watch it.
>Pic related is the true OTP
Yui gets cool new friends and pretty much forgets about her best friend since kindergarten, except when she and her new friends need a favor.
Season 3? We're talking about K-On, right?
not to mention shes best girl next only to ui
>hit or miss
More like shit or miss, lèl
>Watch keion for the first time in years to see the animation change after that boom
>start up episode 1
>Suddenly on episode 8
There is some kind of hidden magic on this show.
I've gotten up to episode 4. As I recall this is the point where I really started liking the show.
There is nothing wrong with you. You're just under the wrong impression that most people here like it
Son, I am REwatching the show. I just haven't seen in a very long time so I kind of forgot how weird it feels at the outset.
You're taste in anime matured then and you're able to see it for what it is
Rewatching it for the fourth time right now. Still love every minute of it.
Oh, is that what it is?
Probably because you weren't participating in threads that overhyped the series this time.
Now that you can take a step back and look at it rationally, it turns out it was pretty shit.
The only people who enjoy shit shows like K-ON are retarded neckbearded manchildren. So you should be happy
Come on, just get it over with and say it. You know you want to.
But...I did at one time.
Yeah, they got nothing on us patricians who watch mature stuff like Cowboy Bebop and LoGH.
I like all three...
Good on you anon.
Like what you like, don't let /a/ bully you into feeling bad.
No. Don't like what you like, and feel bad about it.
okay, who else is watching k-on
i bet its some conspiricy to get us to all buy more merchandise again
I don't post here much but I just want to say that as a 19-yo I have been greatly enjoying K-On, and I don't feel particularly weird or guilty about it, and I will probably always enjoy it. You don't grow out of things anymore when you're an adult, far as I know.
I think you are over analyzing it. I'm sure you still like it OP. Its a good show and anybody who disagrees is being compelled by their fedoras. Everyone knows that the only shit KyoAni show is Hyouka.
I've just finished watching all of it for the first time because I thought moeshit was stupid, but I felt I had to at least see what all the commotion was about.
Turns out I loved every second of it.
Sometimes, it just feels good to be able to appreciate the simple things in life, and being able to appreciate a show without much conflict or plot feels good, unlike when I've watched a show with a shit plot and bad characters or a heartwrenching story.
However, in the end I cried like a little bitch, I don't know why but a piece of entertainment hasn't made me do that before. Maybe I was sad to see them go, or maybe it was because I wouldn't enjoy something so simple again.
>everything is the fault of the Jews
That hurts, anon. That hurts because it's true.
OP, I think I have the german dub somewhere. I need some listening practice anyway, I think I'll try watching it.
Have you watched Azumanga yet?
You've seen the light anon. Don't forget to check out other titles too.
K-On is great because it's so innocent and warm-hearted. Nothing horrible ever happens. You never need to legitimately worry about a plot or character. You just relax and enjoy it. It's not a big emotional investment, but somehow it's still very rewarding.
Same here. There are some things that you probably and will always enjoy. One of those for me is K-On and I still watch random episodes when I feel like it.
It wasn't all that bad. The 1st and 2nd story arcs were neat but yeah it completely deteriorated on later episodes. If it only had a movie to redeem itself like Haruhi did it might not be all that bad.
Well season 1 had injected drama in the form of Azusa's debut and that spat Ritsu and Mio had.
Uncomfortable as fuck. Azusa's was the worst and episode 8 of season 1 will remain the worst one in the series for that reason.
It ruined her character for a lot of people and they never accepted her back (at least for me I'm open-minded enough to where episode 9 managed to undo a lot of it).
The K-ON! Blu-ray BOX, with English subtitles, goes on sale March 5th! Pre-order your copy today!
Because the first scene is terribly cliché if you don't understand the importance of the presentation of Yui's personality for the end of the story.
They basically echo it back in episode 12 when she forgets her guitar at home.
Not yet but I plan to.
I have been, and nothing's gonna stop me from now on.
I hope one day we see our favorite girls again in one way or another. Kyoani finds a way.
Haha. Somebody came inside Yui's mouth when she was sleeping.
Fucking slut deserves it.
I'm surprised that K-ON never managed to exceed Haruhi's revenue. It always looked like it would become KyoAni's most successful franchise.
This. From then on, I can finally enjoy SoL cute girls doing cute things.
Their faces look so autistic.
The German dub was pretty entertaining, I don't even know German.
Oh Yui-chan your so cute with your pillow head. Get back to sleep so I can blow another load in your esophagus.
/a/ was actually pretty heavily divided on K-On! when it came out, and it was reviled on other boards because people would be K-On! threads on random boards with no connection to the show. There were also dozens of threads that were just image dumps that clogged up the pages of /a/ and in all honesty belonged in /c/. I never really cared for it, but I didn't hate it either, although it is surprising to me that so many people claim that "/a/ has always loved K-On!" when it was so divisive at the time.
When the fandom-that-must-not-be-named appeared, I honestly thought that they were the same people as the K-On! fandom. The behavior at first was uncannily similar.
I don't know why but my answer to this is the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Why does many people hate Asuza? I mean yeah I don't like episodes that center her and she really signifies no fun allowed but I don't really hate her and I can tolerate her behaviour since she is basically someone who has a big sense of responsibility.
Why do people hate Azusa so much anyways? Because she "ruined" a dynamic that had been set up for barely a fourth of the series? Come one.
>Expect a show about light music
>No music anywhere at all
>fifth wheel halfway through
>I honestly thought that they were the same people as the K-On! fandom.
Except that fandom was originally a troll fandom from /co/ that turned into a fandom of people unironically praising and watching the show. I don't think you can do the same for a show like K-ON that actually panders to said audience.
>people would be K-On! threads
I meant post instead of be. No idea what happened there.
>>No music anywhere at all
Most episodes show that they practice in their club room.
Well yeah, I'm very well aware of the actual origins of the fandom, but I'll be damned if they didn't draw influence from how the K-On! fandom originally behaved. K-On! is not automobiles or traditional games.
If you think k-on is about music you understand nothing at all. K-on is about healing.
She's too "business" for some people. Always just wants to play music, never wants to have any fun, that sort of thing.
Fuck 'em. Every character has their angle. That's her's because then she ends up succumbing to all the goofiness anyway.
You can watch "healing" shows that aren't plotless moeblob sol aka moeshit.
Haibane ranmei is a good example
Except that was barely the case for the first half of season one, and I honestly would not know whether or not this was ever remedied later on since I dropped the show around an episode or two after Azuza came into the picture.
I thought it was about sporadic product placement to peddle audiophile gear to plebs who listen to 128kbps quality songs they buy off of iTunes.
I think Season 2 have more of them practicing each episode.
I remember watching K-ON! I just don't remember anything about the show.
It's like stuff came in from my left ear and got out from the right.
You get to pick one, and ONLY one.
It's a great show about cute girl doing cute things. It exceeds on that. No reason to hate the show.
Is a moeshow not entitled to its plot?
No, says the man in the /V/atican; it belongs to the westaboo shows.
No, says the man in the /m/ech, it belongs to the machines.
No, says the man in /co/pitalism; it belongs to everyone in the west.
I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something
different. I chose the impossible. I chose...
In the end, K-On! is simply an objectively bad show that just happens to be perfect for its target audiences. It's basically the Avatar of anime. Getting frustrated about it is kind of wasting effort, so real "mature" anime viewers will ignore it and just watch better stuff.
Whatever you say, anon
No one's falling for it m8.
So... you say avatar is bad? Get some taste.
More mature than you think. May be it's just 2DEEP4U
Is Tsumugi a white girl?
Nope. Half Japanese half Finnish. 100%, pure Asian.
>100% Pure Asian
Oh yeah, episode 4 was definitely it. That episode showcased everything that makes K-On what it is and why it's good.
I'm back, baby.
I felt the same way when watching the first season, just boring cliches. Took me a while to get around to watch the second season. But the second season is a true masterpiece. Just keep watching, and when you get to the second season you'll remember why you loved it.
Holy shit Ritsu is a dick to Mio. I forgot how much she teased her.
You never tease your girlfriend, anon?
Ah ha ha ha...you know me better than that.
Otherwise why would you ask about something I don't have? ;_;
