Why can't this show get rid of the edginess, stop trying to appear deep, and just be that funny all the time? I'd like it ten times more.
What are you referring to?
/v/irgins like you need to be banned from this site.
Nobody knows what edgy means.
Despite the buzzwords, he does have a point. The humour in this show is definitely better than the drama
It's exactly because of the edge that the funny moments can shine.
Noragami is the opposite of edgy. Everything it does is painfully mainstream.
>not comprehending black humor
It's okay to laugh sometimes OP
>watching Funimation rip
>trying to criticize the show
if it has drama its edgy
if it has no drama its tryhard lolrandumb
name anything you like and I will tell you why its shit
Too bad the falling scene lost its funniness and then some when Yukine pointed out the joke in the dialogue. It made me cringe and I couldn't appreciate the falling from that point on.
Really? I thought it was funny.
It would have been better played straight. There didn't need to be a line for a character to point out what was happening. It was quite obvious to anyone that that was part of the humor in the scene. When a character flat out states the joke, it tells me the writers want to remind us we're watching a gag scene. They should be confident enough in their writing to not have the characters also point out the joke. It was serious turn off for me.
I thought it matched Yukine's character as kind of a debbie-downer. All the other characters were just going along with it and Yukine had to point out deviations from reality. I think it turned out better than if say, the falling man or Hiyori said it, and I would have cringed too if Yato said it.
I don't like when characters go pop up to face the screen when pointing out how absurd another character is behaving. It's a cliche and a bad one at that. Maybe that's just jap humor. Yukine's stupid like reminded me of that.
But anon breaking the fourth wall has been around since Shakespeare, in all mediums and languages.
It's probably just a matter of taste
I think it's more like Yukine and Yato having a straight man/funny man dynamic. Like, Hiyori is being dragged so far along with Yato's spiel that Yukine calmly pointing out how ridiculous things are is where the humor comes from.
None of the humor in this is black.
Its all pretty slapstick.
I think it's just anime writers no trusting their audience.
Is Noragami the new Shakugan no Shana?
The manga has Yuki pointing it out too, anon. In the format of the manga, it makes even more sense considering there's no concept of real-time
Ok, anime and manga writers.
They always over explain things
The exact same joke would probably have been made if this was a western comic or cartoon. It's not the writers' fault, it's you being a faggot.
Holy shit I hate this fucking yukine faggot. He's such a fucking pussy and a fucking faggot overall. Japs need to stop making characters like him or at least make them the bad characters. Like it would be nice if he got killed by yato or something because he's a faggot.
Interesting point anon, I'd like to subscribe to your magazine.
>having an amusing conversation with a man who tries to commit suicide
>talking about him in the past tense to his face
>not black comedy
Nice, go to urmommyaslut.org for details on how to become a subscriber.
I was forced to watch an episode years ago and it was really bad.
You should have seen the thread when the episode aired, like 20 posts were dedicated to complaining about how the fall made no sense. The manga had the same quip.
Then there was the pathetic attempts at math...
Please anon, thats the speed of gravity.
I don't think you know what black comedy is, but that's okay. Keep using terms you don't understand.
Its a joke. Don't you get it. Wow just because something doesn't follow your way of doing things they are wrong.
Read manga. Yukine's rebelious side there gets pretty hardcore. Yato does nothing with it.
It's Japanese humour. If there's something funny going on, it's gonna be even funnier if someone shouts "HEY PEOPLE THIS SITUATION IS COMPLETELY ABSURD". See Shinpachi in Gintama. It sometomes really annoys me too.
>retards who can't into manzai
>A black comedy (dark comedy) is a comic work that employs black humor, which, in its most basic definition, is humor that makes light of otherwise serious subject matter.
>The terms black comedy or dark comedy have been later derived as alternatives to Breton's term. In black humor, topics and events that are usually regarded as taboo, specifically those related to death, are treated in an unusually humorous or satirical manner while retaining their seriousness; the intent of black comedy, therefore, is often for the audience to experience both laughter and discomfort, sometimes simultaneously.
Please don't make comments on subject matters that you clearly know nothing about. This is the suicide scene to the T.
Yukine is best girl.
I really wanted Yato to chew out Yukine after the shit he pulled.
For those who read the raws, who's that new shota?
He won't but Yukine gets a "punishment" and then >>102014971
How can Noragami have black comedy if there aren't any niggers in it?
I just started this show, and can't help but be dissapointed that the girl in the beggining isn't the female protagonist. Instead we get generic nice girl #3259 that is somehow able to heal MCs cold lonely haato.
>Why can't this show get rid of the edginess
you don't even know what being edgy means, go kill yourself.
> Instead we get generic nice girl #3259 that is somehow able to heal MCs cold lonely haato.
>not liking Hiyori
I wish I could hate you to death.
>appearing to be deep.
I didn't get either of those vibes from the show.
Would of probably been better if had just said for it to loose the drama and be funny all the time instead of using buzzwords incorrectly.
>generic nice girl
Have we been watching the same show? She calls Yato out on his shit and actively tries to solve her own issues.
>I wish I could hate you to death.
That's not very nice. You should check out those anger issues.
Do you mean the shinki that left Yato for a richer god, or the nameless extra in the opening scene?
Either way, Hiyori, Yukine, and Yato for best trio, wouldn't have it any other way.
>expecting an /a/utist to get a joke
Noragami has a spin-off manga where its chapters are just comedy. That part of episode 4 is from the first chapter of the spin-off.
Want only comedy? Read Noragami Shuuishuu
Want plot with some comedy? Stick the main series
Which shota? Yukine is the only shota and Suzuha ;__;
I agree with you so much, we have the black humor faggot and this. Why the majority can't see it like like it is, a small joke on suicide, and Yato is a god so he doesn't have to explain shit
You're retarded. Everyone gets that it's a joke
way to prove him wrong, edgyfag
Yukine is too tall to be a shota. I'm not sure what the right word for him is, bishonen sounds right but I think of that as fujoshit, and Yukine is cute for guys.
>I think of that as fujoshit
>forcing plural on Japanese words
And why should it be fujoshit?
What the fuck?
Taste, yes. There are writers who have good taste and know how to make it worthwhile. Then there are writers who have bad taste and put minimum effort into making fourth wall jokes.
I want /v/ to leave.
I just mean I think of it as something that's aimed at women. Sorry if I offended you.
To be fair, no argument was given to "prove" it was edgy.
>I don't know what black comedy is and I don't want to admit it.
Women are not necessarily fujoshi.
Pretty much every single shojo manga has bishonen, and they are not limited to that demographic either.
It just means pretty boy, and anime is full with pretty people.
The joke was so obvious from the beginning that it's insulting to have it pointed out to us. We get that it's a joke. It's a shitty joke, though.
Because young men don't like black humor?
What are you trying to say?
Sorry, meant to quote >>102026205
Exactly. The character may as well be saying "Hey, look at this craaaazy situation. You're supposed to laugh at this". It is just awful every time, no matter what anime it is.
I just thought it was ironic since he said kill yourself as his argument.
it's british humour
>as his argument.
Oh yes it is, man.
In fact I don't watch this show and I don't know what this is about but I saw your post and had to respond.
Yes it is Japanese. If you want to check that, stop for a minute whenever any joke is made in any Japanese pop work. Chances are there will be somebody or something that tells you "you have to laugh here." Ofttimes it won't be somebody telling you that outright, but there's more ""subtle"" reactions, remarks, movements, sounds, and often whole idiomatic sentences that are there to tell you "THIS WAS A JOKE."
Yes it is very Japanese.
And you seriously haven't seen this in comedy works of any other country? Ok.
OVA has been leaked.
>Dat Hiyori and Kofuku panty shots
>just be that funny all the time?
Because it's not a comedy. Go watch SYD or something.
>The fact that others do it means it's not a Japanese thing
Nice logic. Are you a poor black teenager girl on her period, by any chance?
Where? I don't see any raws for it.
I took one look at that page and cringed hard.
I think I'll wait for a torrent.
>If everyone does it then it's characteristic from the Japanese.
Don't get mad at me because you're stupid.
They'll never get to the body snatching episode, will they.
>The OVA leaked adapts said chapter
>It has been announced for months
Any show can have black humor regardless of target audience
