does /a/ like tatami galaxy?

Just finished it, one of the most overhyped endings I think I have ever experienced...not that it was bad
>>
I really liked it. One of my favorite anime.
>>
I agree. I think I would've liked it better if I went into the series blind. Was great, but I ended up finding it underwhelming.
>>
>>102002651
Also, Ozu was probably my favorite character.
>>
>>102002651
Exact same thoughts I had. I think if I hadn't constantly been told "This series has the absolute best ending in any anime ever" constantly then I would have liked it a lot more.

That being said, I really did like it a lot, but was really disappointed as well.
>>
i would have liked it if everyone didn't ride its dick as hard as they do. not that i'm a hipster but it was underwhelming as fuck
>>
Been my favorite anime since it aired.
I actually consider the ending to be one of the best endings to an anime I've seen in my life.
Sounds like I'm hyping it up, but it's not hard to since most anime have shitty endings or are incomplete.
It just got my ass giddy when he turned into the new Ozu at the end.
>>
i can understand it being overhyped and you going into it with expectations of something that will make you orgasm but i will not tolerate trash talking

things are subjective
>>
>>102002576
Hah, you think that's overhyped. Some people managed to sell me on Mind Game.

Don't watch it. Just rewatch The Tatami Galaxy.
>>
>>102002822
it was shit.
>>
Shin Sekai Yori had a better ending.

Even though the show was shit all the way through. Way too fucking slow.
>>
Boring, poorly-paced, repetitive, pretentious drivel. Endless Eight for hipsters.
>>
>>102002778
it's so hard to describe why it's the best

'we've been there', the series
>>
>>102002839
"we wer humains da hole time xDDDDDD"

No.
>>
>>102002822
It was crap and you're gay.
>>
>>102002832
i am untolerate you
>>
>>102002862
Do you think anyone takes you seriously if you shitpost like that?

Anyone who thinks shinsekai yori was anything more than terrible is shitposting.
>>
>>102002909
Do you think anyone takes that show seriously if it consists of shit like that?
>>
they talk too much, it mad my eye hurt. i will watch naruto instead cause that is a cool anime
>>
>>102002894
You should grammar yourself.
>>
>>102002839
>>102002862
Not only were the first 20 episodes shit, the ending was absolutely retarded as well.
>>
>>102002576
na dorped at ep 4, he basically repeats the same thing in dif scenearios boring
>>
It was like they took Hyouka and Higurashi and made it bad.
>>
>>102002919
>tfw I would trade my right eye and leg for the campus lives he was unsatisfied with
I can't really relate to the sort of person who is upset with their life when they have a friend since I don't have any.
>>
It's overhyped because the heavy handed "message" is about how Shut-in's need get out more. This is seen as a revelation to shut-in otaku because it uses anime to get its point across.

Basically YOLO for NEETs.
>>
>>102002576
Pretentious hipster shit
>>
It may be overhyped, but that's not saying much because that ending really is better than almost any other recent anime's.
>>
>>102002854
It was Endless Eight done right.
>>
>>102003163
Except that it's not like Endless Eight at all.
>>
>>102003154
I came into this thread to wait for this post and then call the person who made it a faggot; you're a faggot, fuck you.
>>
I loved it, it doesn't need a sequel, it could've been a little longer to better adapt the source material but it was okay.
>>
>>102003156
I know I'm going to be called a faggot for this considering people here tend to hate anything that's popular, but I thought Steins;gate (not including the movie), Madoka Magica (with or without the new movie), and, hell, even K-On had better endings than this.
>>
>>102002651
Nearly every series is better blind.
>>
>>102003232
You're wrong and probably don't actually believe what you're saying.
>>
>>102003177
But it is.
It's the same thing, but different over and over and over again.
Just like E8
>>
>>102002919
Jokes on you, I already did. Or at least, it was a gold-colored college life.
>>
>>102003253
How will you read the subs if you're blind
retard
>>
>>102003270
>It's the same thing, but different
Except Endless Eight was pretty much never different. They had a few alterations, but it was still pretty much the same.

Tatami Galaxy was completely different each time.
>>
>>102003259
Honestly I do.

Steins;Gate had a happy ending that tied up any loose ends the series had in a pretty satisfying, but not full-key-retarded way.

Madoka had a very enjoyable bittersweet ending (both in the series and the new movie) that felt satisying to watch

And K-On had a surprisingly heartfelt ending that I really didn't expect.
>>
i dropped it on the first episode because i didn't like how fast MC guy talked. Shit was like Monogatari x 3.
>>
I don't get what was so bad about the ending. i liked it. It didn't feel like endless eight to me at all.
>>
>>102003131
Yeah, I know man. The difference between me and him is that he actually has a uni friend he can hang out with, is usually part of a club and a girl is already interested in him.
>>
>>102003292
If you lose one sense your others get better
chumpface
>>
>>102003334
Most people do like the ending. Myself included, I just didn't think it was worthy of all of the "dick riding" it gets
>>
>>102003152
And Mind Game is literally YOLO.

Well, in its message.
>>
>>102002576
Hipster trash
>>
>>102002576
It's required watching for anyone entering University. Also dat Maaya Sakamoto
>>
I claim it to be my favorite anime.

There isn't anything about it that I didn't like. It's like Murakami on acid, and that sounds fun as hell, which it was.

All the characters were great, the concept and execution, the message, the humor, the animation, the voice acting. But what really got me was that scene where he's running and his beard and clothes start flying off in bits, after he starts to tear up.

That was beautiful and probably the closest I got to actual tears while watching chinese cartoons. It's like a coming of age anime for older people that coming of age is usually meant for, young college kids with no direction in life.
>>
>>102003405
Honestly she made the series for me in a way. Fucking love me some MaayaMoto
>>
>>102002576
It looked like something shaft would shit out and the high school philosophy is so fucking old and tired, too pretentious for me to bear.
>>
>>102003405
But it doesn't actually help me fully appreciate university.

Other than "get out more" (I do, but if you don't know anyone it still sucks) and "ask that girl you know out" (she doesn't exist).

Maybe my life just sucks.
>>
>>102003232
I liked those endings (they're also pretty good for anime), but I never felt the same sense of impact from them. Steins;Gate was a little too neat and didn't have the same kind of focus, Madoka's relatively flat characters (I mean that in a Greek tragedy kind of way) make the ending less emotionally satisfying, and K-On, while well-executed, just felt like Azumanga 2.0 for me.

But to each his own I guess. As seen in this very thread, Tatami Galaxy also gets its own kind of backlash.
>>
>>102003470
I didn't think that the TV ending of Madoka was at all emotionally satisfying...or, on my part, even provoking. I just thought it was solid.

The movie ending, however, I felt was all of that.
>>
>>102003501
Well, for Madoka, it's clearly designed around the ending in a way that the pieces fall together, which is rare in itself for an anime. But to accomplish that, the characters in Madoka feel more like puppets being moved around as plot devices than people. Both the TV series and movie didn't change that for me.

Tatami Galaxy is also stylized with clear archetypes, but it was a lot more character-focused.
>>
>>102003624
I think I'm just a massive faggot of the "For everyone else, things were normal, but there was one person who was constantly experiencing the time loops" bullshit. If a show has that, and that character is well developed, I will love it involuntarily...hell, for that reason I even like the endless eight.
>>
>>102002576
Boring hipster garbage that tried its hardest to be 2DEEP4U
>>
>>102003418
>where he's running and his beard and clothes start flying off in bits, after he starts to tear up.
i flipped like a bitch at this
>>
>>102003816
Did you ever think, maybe you're just too shallow?
>>
>>102003816
>2DEEP4U
But it was straightforward, anon.
>>
>>102003943
It wasn't even shallow, it was incredibly straightforward and had a clear ending.

That being said, it was still shit.
>>
>>102002576
Nah, not a hipster faggot.
>>
>>102003994
>That being said, it was still shit.

What do you find good about any anime? It hit all the marks
>>
>>102004089
I prefer consuming stories that haven't been done tens of thousands of times. The whole "Carpe diem" thing is something I'm sick of at this point.

Not to mention everyman MC's with no personality.
>>
>the ending was overhyped

Do you people even watch anime without it being recommended to you? Damn.
>>
>>102004222
It's hard to come across shows to watch without at least hearing some feedback. I don't think anyone who watches Clannad, Madoka, or Steins;Gate now will ever watch them without hearing how "best anime ever" they apparently are.
>>
>>102004188
What other story had MC live multiple lives within the same universe?

>Not to mention everyman MC's with no personality
He had all the personalities, that was the entire point. That people aren't the same person their whole life. Are you the same character you've been since you gained self awareness? To look at it like carpe diem, to get that from it there's no other way that could have happened unless you actually didn't watch it and just read a summary

or maybe it was too much that you couldnt read it in time and got bored or some shit
>>
>>102003203
does anyone know where I can find the translated book?
>>
>>102004278
Higurashi, Madoka Magica, Steins;Gate, even fucking Clannad had that "multiple lives within the same universe" shit. This is actually a plotline I enjoy. I was over-exaggerating drastically when I called it shit, it was a joke, I do like the show. But it still, in my opinion, suffers from the faults I listed.

He really didn't change that much between the multiple worlds. He was always a guy looking for a rose colored life, eventually succumbing to jelousy and setting out to make others unhappy. There were very few variations of this...infact I only recall a single variation of it when he was attempting to choose between the three girls.

I'm convinced you're either pulling a "redit trole", or a child that is extremely offended when someone thinks your favorite show is anything less than perfect.
>>
Pretentious hipstershit. Too bad we have to deal with the vocal yuasafaggots again with the hipster ping pong anime next season
>>
>>102004387
>Higurashi, Madoka Magica, Steins;Gate, even fucking Clannad had that "multiple lives within the same universe" shit
They absolutely did not. They didn't take part in completely separate characters, their character developed, that's completely different and very orthodox

>He was always a guy looking for a rose colored life
Through means of playing the parts of completely different stereotypes

And then there's the role of the other characters, who knew exactly what MC was doing and how he would end up

>I'm convinced you're either pulling a "redit trole", or a child that is extremely offended when someone thinks your favorite show is anything less than perfect.
I enjoyed the series and I would like to explain the experience i got from it.
>>
>>102004387
you forgot mirai nikki...and a thousand other anime (not even other stories in general)
>>
>>102004479
just because it's the same guy doesn't mean it's the same character, are you actually 12
>>
>>102004387
>every time travel story is a rip-off of back to the future and I'm sick of it
>>
>>102004387

Holy shit go the fuck back to wherever you came from.
>>
>>102002576
It's good if people don't overhype it for you. I went in with pretty high expectations for the last couple episodes and they were met.

Well, I did watch all of those three series (including Tatami with the exception of Clannad) when it was airing. Man did I dislike Madoka. It surprised me how much people liked it.

I did like them but it kinda toned down after all the hype it got as the best anime. I just realized how much of a shitty medium anime actually is. But, that's okay. That's why I watch it anyway, because we all have shit taste.
