So are cooking combos in Toriko basically couples for life? Or is it the other characters just thought Toriko and Komatsu were gay for each other?
I'm pretty sure that it was only the author joking about the whole "Toriko is gay for komatsu" thing, really.
he is gay though
he has no sexual desires for women
Same for Luffy but that doesn't make him gay.
No, he reacted to whaterherface's pheromones, as far as we know Zebra isn't interested, dunno if the NEO guys that beat her were immune simply from having their flavor changed or whatever.
Luffy is even gayer
at least toriko has enough testosterone to grow body hair
Luffy wasn't affected by Hancock's power but Toriko was affected by the warden's power.
Let that seep in for a bit
I though Luffy couldn't turn to stone because he was rubber? Was I incorrect?
You were incorrect. He didn't turn to stone because he had absolutely no lust at all what so ever.
We're talking nonsexual. Period. Not gay, not mechasexual, not anything. He's just too childish at heart.
Garp robbed him of his childhood, he'll just turn into michael jackson
or maybe whitebeard, you know 70 year old guy with a ship full of young boys
Hancock turned pacifista cyborgs into stone, and also cannon balls. I'm pretty sure the rubber property has no bearing whatsoever on her ability. It's kinda overpowered.
That's probably what happens when you have a guy who crushed 8 mountains with his fists smack your head over and over and over during child hood.
Luffy turns heterosexual when Usopp is around though. Oda confirmed that.
That's just a joke though--the idea that Usopp is a bad influence and all that. As far as the plot goes, Luffy is just plain asexual.
How come there aren't any beastiality doujins of Toriko?
I understand the amount of gay porn it gets but considering it's all about big burly baras hunting beasts you'd figure at least one japanese degenrate would have made something of it.
Oda said in an SBS luffy is just emulating his behavior without knowing what it means
It's like a kid who pretends to laugh at a joke to be part of the in-crowd
....did you like....search for this shit? Cause that's just scary.
will the capture level inflation be settling anytime soon?
best girl won the toriko
best girl is the knife making girl
Once Toriko goes into space to find exotic alien foods all the capture levels will inflate into the millions.
Toriko really has no good girls. The author's even worse than Oda when it comes to desinging women.
It's also the only reason why I'd regard him a worse artist than the SnK author.
Still enjyoing Toriko though, mind you.
This, gourmet world isn't the last arc, they'll find the planet this meteor came from and the planet will have monsters in the millions
>worse than SnK
At least shimabukuro has basic perspective down and doesn't constantly draw people who look like they have broken arms
Wtf this looks like naburo
Shimabukuro probably wanted to show "I CAN GIRLS TOO" so he put some extra effort into a female face.
He's probably fed up with the fujoshis going apeshit over his mostly male cast.
Baki author can't draw girls, neither can Fukumoto .
And the last one is the author of Crows/Worst
>attempts to scar her face to resemble her husbando
>retardedly fails doing it on the wrong side
>ingredient is Toriko's bodily fluids
Rin is 2cute4me
I'd put Toriyama's girls on a low pedestal too if I'm honest.
Never read Toriko, but as far as world-building goes that's pretty cool. I think I'll add this series to my "to-read" list.
I heard the anime for this was shit though, right?
Anime is absolute shit.
Art looks like something made in flash, and they put in this female reporter character as filler.
>Anime is absolute shit.

Wow.. That sucks. I'll stick to the manga then. Thanks anon.
Avoid the anime unless you like... almost 4kids type censorship, perhaps not that bad but still quite annoying, oh and shitty filler, lots of shitty filler.
>Avoid the anime unless you like... almost 4kids type censorship, perhaps not that bad but still quite annoying, oh and shitty filler, lots of shitty filler.
I honestly don't see how they could fuck up an easy as fuck premise as Toriko.
The dude fucking fights monsters all day and eats them. This shit it the perfect show to throw on an evening time-slot uncut, with his smoking and drinking and choking down food, the dude is a perfect role model for 'manliness' in an effeminate-protagonist-loving Japanese society.
The only thing that would hurt it is that the series is almost always a sausage-fest and gives off serious bara/fujoshi vibes.
.. shit, for the above reason alone you'd think that they would have left the series alone. It could make bank solely on that, as much as a abhor the idea.
1. Censorship shit is because the anime is meant to be a commercial; a late time slot will only cater to those who aren't casuals who already buy the merchandise and volumes anyways.
You'll probably immediately ask why can't they just make it great and animate it properly and sell BD. Which comes to the next reason.
2. The manga itself is really lacking in battle choreography. It's literally Bleach level, where nothing happens unless people start yelling attacks. There's no filler movement so it's like a turn-based JRPG.
This means the anime studio itself has to be depended on largely to get shit done. That not only means the quality is usually a lot lower, but it cuts into the budget heavily whenever you want a good scene.
So, think about it. A series that sells billions of yen in toys and merchandise every year benefits from which the most?
A) A cheap prime-time commercial stacked right alongside One Piece guaranteeing kids being around to watch it
B) Late night slot high budget long term show catering to an audience that would either buy the toys/merchandise regardless out of fanboyism or simply neglect it period because that shit's too childish for them.
The 'best' case scenario for option B would just be speed line attacks like with DBZ, it's very rare for a long running show to ever have consistently good budget, let alone a show that's based on a series with non-existing battle choreography out side of special moves.
Toriko was supposed to be a callback to the old days of manly men anime.
too bad he has a young boy sidekick
Saitama is more manly than Toriko when it counts.
I meant the old school manime archetypes and aesthetics.
Toriko was supposed to be a parody of that

That didn't stop them from adding decent fight-choregraphy to the DBZ anime, through filler, before it ultimately devolved into beam-spam. I could have seem them doing the same with Toriko's anime, if only to entice the actual fans to purchase the merchandise.
Considering that's it's Toei we're talking, I'd expect them to try, but then I look at shit like the One Piece anime and I understand exactly why Toriko's anime will always been dogshit, regardless of the source material's short-comings.
That said, the first PV for Toriko's anime was damn impressive, which is probably why so many people had such high hopes for the anime.
But the majority of DBZ was beam spam. And when it wasn't, it was just speed lines and blurry punch/kicks that were recycled.
Kai doesn't count, because One Piece/Toriko can always get a Kai once the series finishes. We have to compare the original run to original run itself.
You wouldn't be able to stomach DBZ either if you had to watch it all over again.
DBZ manga had a lot more battle choreograph. That's the biggest difference. Compare the two, it's not even funny.

I don't know complete filler fights like Piccolo vs Android 17 and the majority of Majin Vegeta vs SSJ2 Son Goku were amazing, though as fights go, their fight choregraphy was terrible compared to Dragon Ball's, but that doesn't mean they didn't try sometimes.
>DBZ manga had a lot more battle choreograph. That's the biggest difference. Compare the two, it's not even funny.
I don't disagree, but my point was that they at least TRIED with Dragonball Z's anime, even if it didn't do the source material justice with all the stuff they added to pad it.
Hey fuck you, Melk and Nono are moe as fuck
The author try to hide the fact that Toriko is gay. In later Toriko will have to choose between saving Komatsu and Rin, and of course Toriko will choose Komatsu ovver Rin since thier bond is far superior than relationship between Heterosexual
The ninja girl also look pretty cute, as well as that Mother Tsurara chick and that dark skin girl with the lady gaga fashion sense.
The author can draw girls fine, it's just the main girls that's part of the story he seem to have a problem with. Frohze could have look better without those huge shoulders but the author probably just have a fetish for antonomy inccorect girls.
Someone post the pick of his two sexy nurses when Shanks came aboard the Moby Dick
Toei Kid Buu fight shits on the original same with the Elder Kai Gohan vs Super Buu fight
