I downloaded this a while ago now, but I've always wondered why some of my screenshots have subs, and others don't. Is there a way to make it so all my screenshots have subtitles?
Pic slightly related.

Follow the playback guide on nyaa. If you set up your player correctly, you'll have subs on your screenshots.

-Go to options->external filters, and check if DirectVobSub is listed there and is set to 'Prefer.' If not, then just add it with 'Add Filter...', then set to 'Prefer'.
-Go to options->playback, untick 'Auto-load subtitles.'

Let me tell you why.
>hardsubbed
>softsubbed
Your player isn't capturing softsubs which might be the case if you are using Madvr

isn't that out of date now

Yeah, I just followed that exactly and now I have a completely black playback whenever I try to run anything. What do I do now?

This shit is weird. Honestly don't know what the fuck happened. Sometimes I'll try to run something and I'll get audio and MPC won't even pop up.

do you think that is enough information for us to tell what is wrong?

You fucked up your filters probably (image related), lets see yours.

Well this is fucking weird.
I uninstalled.bat in the madVR and now my MPC works fine with all those settings, and always captures subtitles in screenshots. I guess I fixed it? Doesn't make any sense, but it's fixed.

Either madVR doesn't run well on your computer (too weak/old) or you messed up setting it up.

I still recommend using madVR its the best viewing experience.

Don't do this.

My computer is shit, but I got what I wanted now so I guess it's fine. Until some shit goes down I'm fine with this.
>>
>>101980855
Why not?
>>
>>101980903
You should at least use EVR-CP as renderer, if you're not going to use madVR. Also, unless Maken-ki is hardsubbed (i.e. a Funi rip), it looks like you are using the internal subtitle filter, which sucks.

Seriously, just uninstall MPC-HC and any codecs, and install CCCP and use the included player.

LAV does everything Haali does and more, and it's being actively developed. Haali development is more or less dead.

Like I said, until I have problems again, I won't bother messing with it. If/When I have anymore problems I'll just come back to this thread or try to find another solution or something. But I can't see any dips in quality and my screenshots are fine so I'm fine with this for now.
>>
>>101978317
I had the same problem and this has fixed it. Thanks
>>
>>101981188
Its shitty settings you know that right? The difference a good set-up makes is really visible.
I assume you are new to downloading anime to watch.
Horriblesubs is fucking horrible to test with, they have a lot of banding and other shit in their encodes and are too fucking huge in filesize, horriblesubs are rips if you didn't know, they aren't a sub group just rippers.

You probably will not see subtitle animation in OP and EDs properly with your current set up.

You already have the solution for that situation in the post you replied to, so please stop treating /a/ as your personal tech support team.

I fixed it and I don't really feel like fucking with it anymore. Like I said, if I have noticeable problems I'll just come back to this thread and follow the advice posted. Until then I'd rather not deal with it.
>>101981367
Not really, I just don't obsess over quality that much.
>>
Generally (at least with the filters I use) screenshots taken when the output is scaled don't show subs, but screenshots taken when the output is being displayed at native resolution will show them. So try taking it in windowed mode to have your subs.

Same for me, happens when you use madVR and xySubFilter (not xy-VSFilter).
