Now before you go posting I'm talking about shows that you know would have made one of those full on 10/10 classics if not the fact something very horrible happened halfway through and the entire plot/story/arc shit the bed.
Pic related, I cried at the potential that was lost with this
SnK is a no brainer.
Every Yuasa anime is shit like that. This one was the least shitty imo.
I wouldn't be upset if Gainax just admitted they fucked up.
If you delete Gundam 00 season 2, clean up the dialogue a bit in season 1 and make it so every Gundam pilot dies in ep 25 it would be 10/10 to me.
The second half was alright up until when Sakuragi died and from then onwards I could give 2 shits and a dogfuck about what happened after
Dennou Coil. It came so close to being great, but it didn't fully explore its concepts and themes.
Hey, even with the ending, I liked Kemonozume. Heck, I think it was a better coherent work than Kaiba.
But >>101948045 clearly hasn't seen Mind Game.
I liked it, I still like it. Perhaps the void I feel lies more with me than with it. But there's something...
>But >>101948045 (You) clearly hasn't seen Mind Game.
It's great till it goes all Pinocchio on your ass. So I say again, every Yuasa anime falls flat on its ass eventually.
>those romance and noir moments during the parts when Yuka and Toshihiko meet and develop their love
Reminded me of this so much. It could have been so perfect ;_;
There's nothing to really be upset about. I've always felt like you sort are only "upset" because you think you're supposed to be. Anything else just connects o a basis you wouldn't really want to say aloud.
I didn't hate the show, I liked it as well. It's just that case of 'I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed.'
Basilisk because all of these women with the sexy as fuck powers and not enough scenes of them using it.
No, I'm upset because the ending didn't explain anything at all and Anno still claims that that was how the series was supposed to end when it was clear from all the stills and reused animation that they just used up all their money and had to make something up. EoE kind of fixed this ( though you'll still have to either play the games or look a ton of stuff up to really understand everything ) but since Anno claims those episodes are how the series is supposed to end, it feels incomplete.
>those Okoi scenes
hotter than any erotic vampire flick I've scene
Well... I find my mind is a bit detached from any kind of coherent and structured sense of reality most of the time. The abrupt and surreal improvised "ending", although disjointed, didn't really sit poorly with me... maybe that's why.
I actually thought it was a bit impressive, honestly. I've written a few stories, and to imagine taking a whole storyboard and compressing it down to what they managed, and making it work with an extremely limited and failing budget in a way that isn't too jarring... Takes a bit of skill. I actually liked the ending, and at the time in my life I was watching it, it felt very... something, relateable isn't quite the right word, but it's close.
I think there's a duality in the whole thing. Disappointment and lack of closure is one side, and there's a sense of something else on the other. Something that meaning and value can be harvested from, and I guess I found contentment with that.
what the hell is it supposed to explain? existential crises. expressionism. suffering. end of.
Why the angels were attacking. What the angels are. What SEELE wanted to do. What Gendo wanted to do. What the human instrumentality project is. How the third impact started and what caused it. Who Rei is The last two episodes completely dropped the story and gave us Shinji talking to himself for 40 minutes. EoE doesn't fully explain all of these things but at least it brings an end to the story.
What a fucking terrible ending, I guess the Gainax janitors really wanted to live up to their namesake
Canaan. It should be made into a 26 episode series. Instead we get an asspull ending which doesn't really belong to the show and derailed characterization of the main antagonist. Some things are never explained.
my name is canaan
no my name is canaan
no, no my name is canaan
I'm a food vendor on a bike in the middle of the fucking desert
This fucking pic related right here. Kyousougiga, you could have been undisputed AOTY. Instead it lost itself from episode 7 and the only good episode after that was 10. It's sad how Non Non Biyori effectively stole its spot as AOTS.
Kotoura could have been really great but man that Police woman beating kids then acting like nothing happened after was just fucking awful.
What was the problem with this?
Don't know what /a/ thought of the show but for me Shigofumi went full retard when its focus switched to Fumika's story. Only good episode I can recall in the second half was 10 which had nothing to do with her.
It's a shame since it has probably my favorite two beginning episodes of any series and it was pretty strong until episode 7.
Read the manga, it's far, far better.
They just toned down everything for the anime.
If it was just a straight adaptation, with no changes, it would have been crowned AOTY.
As it is, the anime is just fucking mediocre at best.
Yeah, it was disappointing. The base premise was pretty good. It's too bad it jumped off the rails.
The only thing I remember about this show is the high tension taxi driver.
Dantalian no Shoka.
Miyuki Sawashiro voicing a loli? MC is not a pushover? I'm sold.
But nooooo, Japan has shit taste and it sold like crap.
SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI SUKHOI
Digimon 02 could have been so good instead of abject shit by focusing on 2 squads of digidestined (old and new but also mixing) and being about them ALL bouncing back and forth from the real world to taking down the kaiser with a military like structure.
Digimon Frontier also should have just been Digimon sentai fighting in the real world
Shin Sekai Yori.
It could have been great, but the pacing completely ruined the story. It's a shame too, because I was looking forward to it for a while, and I tried really hard to enjoy it.
