Why does manga handle romance like this 90% of the time? Maison Ikkoku is the only title I can think of that actually gives some decent closure.

And wouldn't it make sense for the characters to get together first since the relationship itself is actually where the development and conflict lies, or at least some goddamn part of the manga before everything else in the universe is resolved? I know there are some out there (Saikano) but this shit is like unicorns.
