What is your Anime of the season
And why is it Kill la Kill?
It's Kill la Kill because this show just pushes all the right buttons for me. I haven't enjoyed an anime this much in a long, long time.
I am hyped as fuck for the next episode.
Because it has good 1v1 fight scenes, memorable characters, an amazing OST, and a unique animation style. That being said, the fanservice was a little over the top. Still, I guess its better than 26 episodes of moeblobs making Christmas cakes.
It's KLK because I have the biggest shittaste on earth.
>liking edge le edge
Back to /v/.
It all started with GC. After the show aired all the crossboarders came in and started shitting up the board.
KLK is the latest thing with these faggots
I'm enjoying lesbians a quite a bit
Could also be that I'm not watching anything else.
I've been to /v/ once and that was about it.
Try again anon, and besides casting someone there is a bit cruel is it not?
Kill La Kill as a show is AVERAGE, at best. It actually pains me to hear everyone continue to hype it up just because it's made by trigger and it's HIP thing to do. Which makes me enjoy it less.
This nigga gets it.
KlK is last season.
I'd have to say my AoTS is Best Girls the Animation aka. Witch Craft Works
Kill la Kill is pretty awesome too
Seki-kun because it knows what it wants to do and does it perfectly.
If anything it's HIP to hate on it here.
That's actually some pretty good taste /a/non.
I've recently caught up with that show, and I'm loving it atm.
I'm not looking for anything game-changing or deep. I just want to watch something fun, and Kill la Kill fills that role.
This isn't even my type of show (shounen) yet I can't stop watching it. Help?
>started with GC
No it didn't what the fuck
It started long before GC
ain't that the lords truth.
I think the oddest thing I've heard somebody rag on it about was comparing it to SOL or Naruto.
Some people don't know when they take it a lil far.
Nearly missed that one.
You're among friends anon. I am usually not even into anime such as this, but I have no idea why
I can't stop looking forward to the next episode after I finish the newest one.
How could you even think this is shounen?
Shounen isn't a genre, it's a ways of publishing, thr Shounen Jump magazine.
There's something different about it, but its hard to describe what it is. I only started watching it because everyone was so hyped, but damn if it isn't amazingly fun.
I've been hearing this everywhere a lot lately, is it really that good?
I watched the first episode and it seemed like generic harem with a whiny MC. Does he get better?
Well I'm not going to defend the MC by any length, but the show itself has great animation and if you're into that sort of thing I say give it the 3 episode rule.
However if you don't like it it's not much of a loss.
It revolves around fighting. What would you call that? I don't usually watch shows that revolve heavily around fighting like this. There are exceptions when a show is spectacular, though.
Chu-2 or Naruto. Magi is pretty good, too. Kill la Kill is meh as fuck. I don't really drop anime and it's almost over so I just deal with it. If it was more serious I'd like it. I love Ryuuko, but characters like Mako and Nui ruin it for me really easily.
pic related is everything "currently airing" that I'm watching
I dislike Naruto.
But respect for being straight up about it.
I marathoned Naruto all day everyday starting a couple months ago, so it's hard for me to mentally separate seasons or even years of airing. At this point for me it's sorta like if you had a bestfriend from your childhood and he's not as cool as you remembered but he's still an alright guy so you hang out with him. I am not particularly fond of what's going on in Naruto compared to some things that happened earlier in the series, but I don't dislike it really. You can see in the pic that I gave it a 10/10, that's really only because we're dealing with ~350 episodes of Shippuuden and I don't want to disgrace some of my favorite parts with a low rating just because it's not amazing with every new episode.
It's also the only really long show I've watched so I just have a special relationship with it.
I appreciate your understanding, and sorry for the wall of text. I just figured if you were willing to reply to me after seeing Naruto, maybe I could explain myself a bit.
>It all started with GC
Surely you mean CG.
Gundam Build fighter.
Well I'm not an /a/ hipster I don't really get strung up on what people enjoy or don't. I think the only anime that has literally no redeeming qualities would be around the lines of like SAO S2 or the entirety of infinite stratos.
Even then I couldn't really care if someone enjoyed it because I just appreciate my god tier tastes.
I tried getting into it I really did, but for some reason I can't look past the whole "It's all a simulation" thing.
Sad I know, but things like that have always bugged me in any medium.
I think it works personally.
I enjoy seeing old Gundams back in action and it give me something to watch until Unicorn ep 7.
It's become fantastic.
The story itself isn't really unique, just very entertaining with compelling characters, great action and a solid storyline. It's not harem, has virtually no fanservice, and inverts a lot of tropes.
The MC however is pretty unique. He's definitely not a whiny pussy or an neutered idiot, but he's not a shounen battlefreak, or a macho either. He's not really feminine, but his personality is sorta like a good, earnest heroine. Really hard to describe, but if he had a vag he'd be everyone's bestgirl.
Anyway, the 3 episode rule doesn't work well here because the action starts in episode four. The first three episodes largely just establish setting and plot.
My advice instead would be to watch 10 minutes of any episode from four up. You'll be hooked.
Nourin is probably my favorite, if not Sonico.
Build fighter is my favorite from last season, and I'm still enjoying it very much.
Agreed. It's fun as fuck, yet it's no slouch in the plot and character department either. It's not particularly deep, but the characters have more than enough nuance and personality to them to be both interesting and entertaining and the plot is ramping up every episode, throwing more and more "SHOCKING SURPRISE" at us, but never resorting to deus ex machina as everything is foreshadowed quite well. It's just a really well-put-together show.
There is one criticism I don't get. I've heard that a lot of people are saying it has poor pacing. I really have to disagree. Angel Beats has poor pacing. The third part of Gurren Lagann had poor pacing. FMA Brotherhood's first fifteen episodes had poor pacing. KLK's pacing is pretty much fine in my mind.
You know what? Mad props for being secure in your tastes, man.
Your relationship with Naruto reminds me of my relationship with Fullmetal Alchemist; the manga, the first anime, Brotherhood, all of it. It's a shounen show that I grew up with and I still can't bring myself to love it any less.
I have to disagree and say that I love the less serious characters in Kill la Kill. The moments of levity gives the serious moments a lot more gravitas and I love it.
>moeblobs making Christmas cakes.
But it isn't as good as Christmas cakes making moeblobs now is it?
I like KLK but it's not my AOTS.
I don't really have an AOTS to be honest, I like them all but right now perhaps noragami or Dia no Ace
Mine's SYD but objective answer is Seki-kun
Because Kill la Kill is something more than cute girls doing cute things.
Its cute girls doing bad ass things.
So I get moe and action in one package.
Space dandy...no, really.
All of these land-locked stories...whatever happened to the spirit of exploration, of adventure? Remember when space wasn't just a battleground for three dimensional wars? Remember when the cosmos wasn't some bin for a plot device to fall down from and incite Terran feuds? Remember when the universe wasn't just a piece of putty for reality warpers and gods to show how "powerful" they were while being trapped in their own little worlds?
The star spangled sheets on the gentle surf, those eyes in the sky so close yet so far away. If you keep going forward, you just wind up back where you are. The lights up there traveled countless miles to be seen; the least you could do is look up every once in a while. Your body might never kiss the infinite, but can't you let your mind wander upwards for a change?
It's not too late to love.
Gundam Build Fighters
Seriously, this is the funnest fucking show I've ever seen in a long time. And I'm not even a Gundam fan.
These guys know where it's at.
Can we stop pushing this "KLK counts as a Winter Season show" forced IRC meme?
Guess it's time to pick shit up then.
Most of my favorite shows have been like these series in the past few years; Inazuma, Cardfight, Jewelpet Tinkle, Danball Senki.
These kids shows are so much better
I don't really see why anyone would watch the show rather than read the manga. But that's how I feel about most manga adaptations.
Why wouldn't it?
>B-but it started airing in fall!
So? That's an arbitrary distinction made for no reason. It's airing in winter too.
You mean TTGL?
Why? Because of the beautiful mother/daughter incest, of course.
>Remember when space wasn't just a battleground for three dimensional wars?
But I love this shit. Dandy is great though.
>That's an arbitrary distinction made for no reason.
I would say there are pretty fucking compelling reasons to stick with it but I really don't even feel like having this argument because I feel like I'm being bamboozled.
No not really. If it's airing, it should be a viable candidate for the title "Anime of the Season" regardless of when it started airing.
