Hey /a/, I'm looking for another anime thats half-way similar to Deathnote. Recommendations?
No, not a dubfag either. L's VA is bad enough as it is.
It starts sucking about half way through
Oh, Light, why couldn't you have won? I fucking hated that Near kid, him and that Mello were completely unlikeable. At least Light was cool in a gentrified "I'm better than everyone" asshole kind of way.
I was wondering about that recently. It looked pretty interesting from the get-go.
its called psychological animu. You have same taste as me op on favorites. I suggest Akagi and Kaiji
So does Deathnote, if you haven't noticed. But it's cool.
Ergo Proxy: No. If you have nothing absolutely nothing better to watch and you really, really like the theme, then yes.
Mushishu: hell yes.
Monster sucks though I watched all of five episodes and i knew as much as guy who watched them all
Code Geass? Thought if psychological thriller/drama animu is what you are after, go for the other suggestions in thread.
LOL shit show
I'm getting the vibe I should definitely look into Monster and Kaiji... maybe even Ergo if I like the 'theme'.
If you can't pay attention lolol.
Monster is similar to Death Note in that it is a psychological/suspense thriller.
An anime with Shinigami? Try Bleach
Try Code geass.
I tried watching it once...and believe me, I thought it was shit.
True, but it has some similarities to DN.
Mello was likeable and Near was raepable.
>L's VA is bad enough as it is.
YOU BEST BE JOKING!!
So do you want suspense/drama type stuff?
Or do you want lots of pretty guys with ambiguous orientations?
Code Geass, Akagi, maybe Kaiji if you like tears.
I think you mean Mushishi?
So, my list now consists of:
Overall it wasn't remotely believable - guess that was a turn-off for me. DN is a little more realistic in that aspect I suppose.
DN was believable?
akagi, if you have not watched it you do not belong on /a/
You must be a newfag. But i still suggest akagi big time.
What? How is Death Note any more realistic than Code Geass? They're both based on outrageous powers which are completely impossible. Code Geass is set in a much different environment, but it doesn't break any laws of physics. The only unrealistic part is the Geass, and the lack of bulges.
And the asses.
IN B4 SHITSTORM
I'm fine with suspense of disbelief in that situation.
If you're gonna call DN unrealistic because of the supernatural elements, then all of fiction would be unrealistic.
The realism comes because the Death Note has numerous rules and limitations, and the fact that the enemies react to it by protecting themselves from it. It's portraying fantasy in a realistic manner.
Of course that's not to say that DN was completely realistic, but I see where others are coming from.
And the flying knightmares.
This thread can kiss my ass, and OP?
It wasn't realistic enough. Light defeated L, but he got owned by a short little fatass.
Everything this guy said
Shakugan no Shana
If planes can fly, mechas can fly.
It wasn't just the fatass, it was a combination of the fatass and the other guy.
Persona ~ Trinity Soul
Dubnote is by far the best mindfuck on AS.
Too bad it gets crap ratings because AS can't handle anime worth shit.
Dub L makes me shit bricks.
Actually, how FABULOUS Lelouche looks, he still had more balls than Light.
At least Lelouche kills people in person with his own hands instead of sitting in his bedroom writin' down names.
Also pizzabuts. I seriously wish that another studio did the character design, it would have prolly been more badass with less Shoujo like design.
dont complain dub you loser.
I see the OP still hasn't lost his interest in Ergo Proxy, so I'll try again:
-The story never gets going. The majority of the time they spend going from point A to point B, then B gets blown the fuck up and they go back to A. commence last 2 episodes of actual story.
-those last two episodes are similar to NGE in inexplicable-ness. Maybe slightly less than NGE, but it's still just as irritating. in other words, bad quality ending.
-the animation is awkward, especially people's faces are often screwed up.
-the characters are not given any chance to shine bar a few decent moments
-It has fillers. Not in the true sense of the word, but there are a few episodes that completely leave the undeveloped story for what it is and go do something else.
its only redeeming features are the soundtrack, and the overall atmosphere. And the little girl robot.
I mostly agree, but I loved the animation and the ending - while not good - was pretty clear.
Well, moreso the style than the animation.
Try Kaiji, Mushishi, and Akagi. Then decide in which order you're going to watch them and proceed to marathon.
Not an anime, but go watch Dexter. It's pretty much a live action Death Note without a death note or L or anything. Fucking awesome though.
Also, try Dexter's Lab.
Agreed, Dexter is great.
Pino was the best part about that show. That, and episode 15. Best game show ever.
Black Cop = L?
as for the filler, ergo proxy was basically one filler after another filler, after another filler, except for the beginning eps and the end. But it's somehow tied together to make an interesting and engaging story.
Every ep I kept expecting shit to go down, for main char to just fuck shit up, but it never really happens, but (although i really like action anime) this didn't really bother me; rather it made me like it even more.
Ergo Proxy is one of my favs, and probably once a week or so I'll have that stupidly awesome little girl stuck in my head saying 'usagi' while prancing around.
That said, ergo is an awesome anishit and one of the best out there.
He may not be the super genius that L was but he's the ONLY fucking person that was suspicious of Dexter from day 1.
In fact if you read the books, Dexter basically says that Doakes and himself are the same.
I've been bored from the get go. But I'm only 3 episodes in, so we'll see...
