This is quite possibly the best martial arts manga out there right now.
I wouldn't go that far but it is pretty danged good.
I prefer Meguru or even Shamo, if you exclude that Chinese chi shit
what about berserks artist?
That's not Tekken Chinmi Legends.
I actually liked that Shamo chinese ki arc, seems like it got ignored though plot wise. Why would they do that?
Artist took over the story, they had a feud right after that arc which is why it went on hiatus for 2years
Meguru is obviously the best, Shamo pulled off other unbeliveable shit other than ki.
I still liked Shamo for having such a dick be the main character.
the drawing in that picture is really bad...
It actually isn't.
Stop that shit, faggot.
something about it just looks really childish
It's absolute trash.
Not even manga.
it has a really interesting and well thought out world. the characters except for the faggot MC are interesting as well.
So childish=bad? Just fuck off already.
a childish martial arts manga is pretty bad...
All rounder Meguru is the best martial arts manga out there.
Not a manga.
Hot opinion there faggot.
Did you call Dragon Ball bad? HxH?
It's not manga. It's full of shounen super power bullshit.
Go read something like Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru
Blade of the immortal, The ravages of time and Vagabond called, they want you to step the fuck down.
I almost didn't pick this series up because the red-haired girl lead is annoying as all fuck. Story is okay though, generally.
Vagabond's a martial arts manga the same way Berserk's a pirate manga
Does Holyland count? I liked that a lot.
It does because Holyland is the best one, and also the most realistic one I have read yet.
Berserk is obviously a pirate manga, everything else up to this point was just setting the stage for Guts' career as a sailor. Or did you really think that they're going to get off that boat?
If you think Minoru isn't full of bullshit even without superpowers, I don't think you've ever been in a ring or certainly fought anyone that actually knew how to fight. Meguru is the only remotely realistic martial arts manga out there. Not that realistic = fun, but if you're going to rip on a series for not being authentic, then there's some serious hypocrisy in recommending Minoru. I'd personally rather read a fun manga with ki bullshit that does not even pretend to be real then some edgy pretentious self insert ninjer bullshit that exists only to satisfy the delusions of people that have never fought in an athletic environment or probably at all that they could kick anyone's ass with their 2deadly4sport TMA voodoo.
Yep, and Vinland Saga is a farming manga.
>any manwha ever
>good at all
Oh come on. Breakers is just a shitty korean take on a shounen battle maga formula. The best martial arts manga are Meguru, Holyland, and Teppu.
Holy-fucckin-land was awesome sad that it was so short.
no, look at big three if you want an example of shounen shit.
Breaker doesnt have people yelling attack names, stopping in the middle of fights to explain their techniques or "he's behind me!" scenes. It also doesnt have characters "die" then get healed up next chapter (like byakuya).
Nor do villains leave their opponents alive because "he's interesting...!!!". It actually doest have many shounen manga tropes at all.
ravages of time is a war manga.
and im pretty sure blade of the immortal and vagabond have ended a long time ago.
>wow, how can he still be standing?!
>wow, how can he still be standing?!
Repeat this 100x and you've read the entirety of The Buster.
Holyland is fucking awful though. A generic shonen MC would actually be preferable to what is essentially Shinji with his self pity multiplied by ten and his whining multiplied by a hundred.
You fucked up OP. I love the breaker but posting any manhwa on /a/ always results in weeaboo Nippon nationalists shitposting it to hell. Welcome to /a/. The only place more proud of Japan than the Japanese.
The length was fine, otherwise it would have become generic and dumb after a while.
>martial arts manga
>untrained guy shows up with a gun and wrecks shit
I seriously laughed my ass off. It hurt.
To be fair, the shitposting in this thread is mostly due to OP's bold (and wrong) claims.
He wasn't even close to shinji, did you finish the whole thing?
There was quite some character progression.
Holyland could've been a lot worse, but it was still full of a lot of stupid shit. If you think a fucking karate chop is an effective defense against a leg takedown or that asphalt is hot lava to a wrestler, I have some news for you.
You are right that his claim isn't correct. I'm just tired of people hating every manhwa saying it's 0/10 because the Nips hate Koreans and so /a/ finds it cool to jump on the bandwagon.
Everybody hates Koreans, though.
You are exaggerating.
Not if you are the blonde karate guy.
Yeah, I know. I'm one of those guys who keeps trying to make manhwa threads after all.
That said, when OP makes these kinds of threads, I feel obligated to shitpost.
The big three aren't totally representative of battle shounen and it's tropes.
I spent 2 years there. I don't hate them at all.
/a/ constantly calls out the nips on their shit taste, so I don't know what you're going on about.
Meguru and Breaker are my favorites for martial arts right now.
Let's not talk about how far Kenichi has fallen.
>Let's not talk about how far Kenichi has fallen.
It depresses me everytime.
No, it's actually just that 99% of manhwa is absolute horseshit. /a/ loved Shin Angyo Onshi and Unbalance x Unbalance had a sizeable fanbase at one point.
Yeah, its gotten pretty bad. It just needs to end like Rosario and Town Where You Rage since they all got so shitty.
At least Sora no Otoshimono had a good ending.
Every Asian country hates every other Asian country. I don't have anything against South Korea, or China, or Thailand or Vietnam like Japan does, I just don't like manwha. As it stands, it is either a cheap imitation of manga, or that shitty web comic style - why would I waste my time with mediocre manwha when there are so many great manga to read?
/a/ hates everyone including /a/. I don't see how that makes a difference to the claim that they simply hate anything Korean because Nips do.
>/a/'s resident geopolitical expert
Or you could just read something if you like it.
Where the fuck do you think you are?
If /a/ doesn't think too highly of the Japanese, why would they side with them on the issue of Koreans?
I do. That's why I read things that aren't manwha. Makes sense, right?
I exaggerate nothing. The wrestler dude gets his fucking ass beat effortlessly by every single character because lelasphalt. And I hear this bullshit parroted in real life by idiots. People typically wear clothes for these reasons and skin isn't made of tissue paper, and a fucking street fighter isn't going to be afraid of getting a goddamn booboo from dropping someone on and grinding them into the pavement. The hard surface only works in their favor in hurting YOU, not them. The only valid SHIT DON'T WORK ON THE STREETZ YO argument against any form of wrestling is if you're in a real brawl, as in more than one person at a time (which was a completely moot point in like 98% of the fights that take place in Holyland) and that's a fucked situation for anyone. And it's not like wrestling doesn't have stand up takedowns like judo or that knowing how to stay on your feet wouldn't be paramount in a situation like that, something someone who doesn't grapple wouldn't really know how to do.
Every Japanese person I talked to talked about normal things like normal people. Some of them like Korean drama series and K-Pop.
Every Korean person I talked to talked about how they hate the Japanese and how horrible I am for liking anything Korean.
Not really, it only seems that way because the MC got fed a super dangerous drug that gives him the ki of a top tier master.
That doesn't exactly help your case.
While anti-Japanese sentiment has become an overblown nationalist soapbox for Koreans, they do have legitimate reasons to be pretty pissed off. Modern Japanese basically pretend that Imperial Japan never happened and that they did nothing wrong, when it was only a generation or two ago that they had colonized Korea and basically turned the whole country upside down doing some truly fucked up war crimes, not to mention what they did in China, which was frankly way worse. Japan was to East Asia what Germany was to Europe. It's kind of like if Germany denied the Holocaust. That's what Japan is doing.
None of these are Kenka Shoubai.
Yeah, that might be true, but I'm only interested in Japan's anime/manga culture and not their history. So for me, Koreans are going on and on about something that's just not relevant to me. I take Japan's side because the Koreans can't seem to like anything Japanese solely because it's Japanese. I hate that kind of overgeneralization.
>Every Korean person I talked to talked about how they hate the Japanese and how horrible I am for liking anything Korean.
I meant to write:
Every Korean person I talked to talked about how they hate the Japanese and how horrible I am for liking anything Japanese.
has any one mentioned teppu yet?
I really like Shamo, but it really fucking pisses me off how Ryo literally delevels at the end of each arc and is basically useless. I wanted to see him improve and become a deadly fine weapon.
But no, he ends up jerking himself off and forgetting martial arts after he builds himself up to beat his target.
Ladies and gentleman I present to you the most self condensed essence in the universe.
>start reading holy land
>a small kid can throw amazingly fast and strong punches
And this is /a/'s definition of good? Dropped. Its like akame ga kill where a small girl can trade sword blows with a huge buff guy.
Who gives a fuck about a couple of Koreans dying?
Bitch. He did 10000 punches a day everyday.
I honestly couldn't even tell you where it became shit, it was so fucking gradual that one day I sat there and realized that the past 200-300 chapters were God awful and it seems that the author was trying to keep the series alive using the T&A factor.
i would rather take that than the "im behind you!" in bleach or like in one piece where they stop fighting just to trash talk and explain their techniques and keep yelling attack names OVER AND OVER AND OVER.
Also super cliched dialogue like "that person....!!!" "him....!!!" "i heard about IT...!!!!"
Oh, please. Why should I care about all the bad things that happened in the past between two countries foreign to me? If it was at least happening right now, I could try to do something about it, but it's not like the people drawing the manga/anime I consume did all that. Why should I fucking care?
Kamishiro trained his 1-2 like hell everyday, he literally does nothing but that since he barely goes to school due to bullying, then he put it in practice with accurate hits to his opponents chin. how is it so nonsensical?
Teppu is an interesting manga, but it draws a lot of its strength from its characters. The way action is depicted isn't always quite up to par, I think the artist is learning as he goes along.
it doesnt matter how much you train to throw punches if your arms are skinny and you have no muscle power behind it.
>I would rather eat dog shit instead of pig shit.
I'm not sure where you're going with this.
Does Vagabond count as a "martial arts" manga?
>mfw Veritas ending
Batshit crazy doesn't do it justice. Though the cliffhanger would have made for a really interesting continuation at that point. Shame we'll never see what happens next.
All these new korean manga aren't martial arts by traditional means. They are chinese wire-fu wushu type manwha.
You don't know shit.
skill > strenght.
In Holylands defense, that's partially due to the art.
In the later parts of the series, where the art improves, he was pretty cut.
The difference was psychological anon, Kamishiro was fucking desperate to just end everything with violence and in fights its explosive strength that counts.
>anything but shit
>I'm strong as fuck but can't land any hits because I have no skill
Let me know how that works out for you.
Nice try IRC.
But that's not Yongbi the Invincible, OP.
Still, really good I agree.
Looked at the description really quick.
Seems like Ippo but thai boxing instead?
Why is his nut flopping out
No, noritaka is basically a formulaic comedy with somewhat funny and stange fights.
The only reason testicles exist in Japanese manga, for gag humor
Mc got a thai boxing teacher, but he meets a lot of fighting styles. Fun and serious fights. Old but gold.
Because he forgot to wear a boxer + grapples with pride and passion
Remember that one manga where a nerd and a fighter/delinquent switch bodies, and the nerd becomes an expert fighter with the body, but then the delinquent also starts becoming an expert fighter in his new body, and then a bunch of shit happens that didn't really make sense and caused me to lose interest?
Scanlations of new works when?
March 20th in Shonen Champion
>Beating up black people-fu
Yeah that's pretty much the best martial art
This is kind of shitty but so funny. Jesus.
