>Finally watching the first season of Ippo
Holy shit this show is fun, even the training eps
Too bad /a/'s not into real sports anime. The David Eagle fight needs to happen already.
Its the worst fight in the series.
Ippo needs to hurry up and beat the 2nd rank bitch.
Implying Woli Fight is better
Even worse than the Bryan Hawk one? I've yet to read the manga.
>implying your guts will be ready for this
It's happening next episode anon
Hajime no Ippo is great. Vorg is my favorite boxer
>last episode ends with people chanting to see Miyata and Ippo fight
>a million chapters later
>still haven't fought
Volg is the most handsome boxer. The episode where he leaves for Russia made broke me in tears.
I wanna see Vorg beat the shit out of Sendo again, that call was bullshit and everyone knows it.
hopefully the show won't go into another long break.
im eagerly waiting for the post-ww2 special next month.
this show cracks me up in the manga and anime
Not enough Tension yet.
I've already seen the first 23 episode of Hajime No Ippo. Haven't read the manga but I'll start it soon.
I meant to say episodes
For some reason the David Eagle fight has the most polarizing opinions. Some people say it's one of the best fights, others say it's boring. I'll be waiting for the fight to be animated before forming my opinions on it.
Are you a faggot or something?
I'm almost certain that how it's going to go is that Miyata will get the world belt and the final match will be Ippo's world title match against him for it.
It's cliche but I'm expecting it, and I'll still enjoy it.
>not seeing his beautiful eyes
>implying anyone is capable of looking like this while being a hobo
say that to me in real life and not online and see what comes about m8
>Too bad /a/'s not into real sports anime
/a/ loves Ippo.
It's too bad the threads these days aren't indicative of it. Might be that most people are put off by Rising cutting out too much stuff or everyone's waiting for the fights to finish and marathoning. Most Ippo threads would be lucky to hit 30 posts.
>ippo vs miyata gets announced in the manga
>50 chapters of build-up
>they step into the ring
>lol manga suddenly over
mark my words
I'd expect Ippo to lose to Ricardo Martinez before that happens.
yeah need more sexual tension
It's partly because Rising has been shit about adapting the source material, partly because threads about the Hajime no Ippo anime are notorious for being awful, since it's almost always that one retard swearing up and down "Well, this fight was changed/ruined.. well, well..but the NEXT FIGHT IS GONNA BE PERFECT, WATCH AND SEE!" .. only to be proved wrong, rinse and repeat until the season is over, while adding nothing to the thread.
Then there's cancerous anime-only faggots trying to jump right into Rising without watching the original series, much less being arsed to read the fucking source material; cue arguing with people who would rather sit through 100+ 22 minute episodes instead of sitting down and reading the 100+ tank release of the manga, at their own pace, without worrying about what got cut from the anime.
.... Oh, and they fact that until yesterday the Hajime no Ippo manga's English translations were 8 chapters behind the Raws. Now they're only 5. However it doesn't matter because the Hajime no Ippo manga is in the middle of a major fight, so reading it weekly is torturous regardless of if there was scans.

Fuck. From the Raws it doesn't even look like the fight is at the halfway point yet. I'll pick up the manga again when it's over in a couple of months.
>From the Raws it doesn't even look like the fight is at the halfway point yet. I'll pick up the manga again when it's over in a couple of months.
Still got hype as fuck for this page tho.
Still never told Kumi he loves her or made a move on any other female.
>cue arguing with people who would rather sit through 100+ 22 minute episodes instead of sitting down and reading the 100+ tank release of the manga, at their own pace
I'm kind of a mix between those people. I've only read the manga up to around where Rising is so I won't know what's going to happen, other than match outcomes. Fuck I've spoiled myself big time on those.
Not sure if this is the best idea, but better than knowing what gets cut and having it ruin the experience while watching. For this Sawamura match comes to mind. The fight was fucking great but I was disappointed later finding out they skipped most of his character development. Of course, once this Eagle match is out of the way I can finally plow through the manga and get up to speed.
Ippo is truly one of the best anime/manga out there, but there's only one big letdown. It NEVER fucking ends. And it got what every other never ending series as well, it slowly turn into stagnant and stupid. Too bad no mangaka can write a decent ending.
>Still never told Kumi he loves her or made a move on any other female.
I'm sure Ippo has already told Kumi he loves her, even though she was drunk and asleep at the time.
The fact that she's actively trying to get the D from him and he's trying to give it to her nowadays is a leap forward compared to the typical horseshit where Kumi didn't even register in Ippo's mind compared to Miyata.
>I'm kind of a mix between those people. I've only read the manga up to around where Rising is so I won't know what's going to happen, other than match outcomes.
I did somewhat the same thing when Rising was airing, but I ended up regretting it, since being able to read the whole fights without worrying about stuff being cut, is just too appealing.
After catching up to the weekly chapters, I can't even stand to watch Rising due to how badly they're fucking up this adaptation. I'd let changes slide, if it wasn't almost always instances of them sacrificing genuine character development to cut corners; the end result being the characters are either dumbed down or the narrative gives you zero reason to care about who's fighting.
Dat fucking Ippo face.
Not Rising. I meant New Challenger. Damn I need sleep. Also, I was disappointed that Rising skipped this page here for Sawamura vs Ippo.
It was one of the rare moments where you see Ippo really pissed off.
What's sad is we also get another scene where Ippo is intense like this when he's worrying about Takamura possibly having a detacted retina, to the point he almost gets into a fist fight with some drunk asshole.
But then Rising skipped the Detacted Retina subplot from Takamura vs Eagle, despite keeping the lead-in.
Fuuck. That's the face of a man who's committed himself to the concept of murder.
Only watched the anime (up to New Challenger), what brought that on?
Some motherfucker laying his hands on his waifu.
>I can't even stand to watch Rising due to how badly they're fucking up this adaptation.
This is something I don't want to feel, especially knowing that each season will probably take another 5 or so years to air.
Thanks for reminding me to go read the build up for Eagle's fight, especially because his issue might pertain to me. I don't mean to blog, but somehow being reminded of his possible retina detachment is making me see things in my right eye even more, sometimes small white flashes, sometimes black dots with a white ring. I got checked by an optometrist a year ago and she said I was fine, and I fucking hope so and it's just some psychosomatic thing. ;_;
>I'm the one who'll do it
He sure fucking did. Ryuuhei got wrecked so hard, SO HARD.
Did he? Good. Glad to hear it. I haven't read/seen it. But that makes me really glad.
Yep. Come to think of it I don't think Ippo's injured another opponent nearly as badly as Ryuuhei, I might be completely wrong though since I haven't read past Rising.
Any idea what general chapters the fight is? I'm eventually going to read the entire damn manga, but right now I just wanna skip to that fight and watch the savagery.
Takamura is best character
That's the face of a killer.
The fact that Ippo would push fuckin' Mashiba aside to get at Sawamura was what finally sold me on this match.
Shit, man. I hope you don't do any contact sports in your free time. At the very least that sounds like nerve damage or early signs of cataracts.
It's always the quiet ones that turn out to be monsters. Ippo is the one person you don't fuck with.
Indeed, I gotta ask, did they have any sort of relationship improvement in the manga?
>Indeed, I gotta ask, did they have any sort of relationship improvement in the manga?
Though he'll never admit it, but Mashiba definitely treats Ippo like a brother-in-law, if not an actual comrade, compared to what their relationship was in the beginning of the series.
I had to check the timeline for you. It's around volume 53 to 55 (chapters 481-501). I'd suggest you read the build up to which is chapter 462 to get a better experience.
Thanks man for worrying. And no I don't do any contact sports, I'm too unathletic for that. ;_; I might go for another checkup to ease my fears later.
>which is chapter 462
Meant which is FROM chapter 462, m'bad.
Fuck yes. Thank you very much!
You really have to hate a motherfucker to punch them in the gut so hard that their fucking GUTS explode.
No problem man, just a fair warning there's a bit of spoiler pertaining to Volg's story in this. But since your skipping ahead I suppose you don't mind.
Kill yourself, please.
Can someone tell me what is Ippo's current rank in the world? I'm in vol.79.
Also, does this manga take time to get translated ?
Anderson was total scum. I haven't felt so pissed at a character since what Mashiba did with Miyata. He deserved what he got and them some.
>Can someone tell me what is Ippo's current rank in the world?
Ippo is ranked 7th in the WBA, but, neither he nor Kamogawa want anything to do with the WBA's champion, Ricardo Martinez, so he's currently fighting guy that's ranked 2nd in the WBA, for his rank, though Ippo and Kamogawa are after his 3rd ranking the WBC.
Also, Ippo is still ranked first in the OPBF and is considered the unofficial champion of the orient, despite Miyata still holding the belt.
But to think that Ippo still hasn't gotten up to Ricardo's level....
As for your second question, yeah. It's more that Mangastream tends to drag their asses with translations for Ippo since there isn't any competition, though it's probably for the best since the translator for Hajime no Ippo is the same guy who was translating Ippo with Ignition-One; the group that was previously translating Ippo after picking up after the scanlators who originally picked up Hajime no Ippo as a series (SnoopyCool).
If not for Mangastream releasing three chapters a few days ago, the translations for Ippo would still be 8 chapters behind the Raw (which is at 1047, currently).
>But to think that Ippo still hasn't gotten up to Ricardo's level....
Well, it's not so much that Ippo isn't at Ricardo Martinez's level, so much as it would be suicide for Ippo to challenge him, especially since he only recently relinquished the JBC title and has next to zero experience fighting on the world level.
I'd say Ippo's power is definitely on the world level and going by the current match, it seems like Ippo mindset is getting there, since he's yet to spaz out like a chicken with its head cut off, like Ippo usually does when faced with something he's never seen.
I never watched the anime, only the manga. Guess I should try it out since I've manged to forget most of the story since it was so long ago.
How long do you guys think Ippo will go on for? Over a 100 volumes or no?
I think the problem is that Ricardo has been portrayed as a goddamn Terminator. He's been shown as such a murdermachine juggernaught that I don't know how Ippo is going to be able to "train up" to beat him.
>Anderson was total scum. I haven't felt so pissed at a character since what Mashiba did with Miyata. He deserved what he got and them some.
You'll get no argument here. I'm just sad that Genji literally sacrificed his boxing career to take Anderson down a few pegs. The only thing more heart-breaking than watching Genji ruin himself for revenge was that Ginpachi was damaged to the point of ruin by accident, during a friendly match, before Anderson ruined the guy completely by being a shit.
Never mind, I didn't realize the manga passed the 100 volume mark some time ago.
It's at volume 105. Sort of sad that means It'll never come over here.
Well, if you read the manga up to the current chapters there's no reason not check out the anime, despite it not being as faithful to the source material as it used to be.
Also, Ippo will probably continue until Morikawa retires; the guy has made a point to make it his life's work.
I could see it hitting 150 volumes before ending.
When I make billions in stocks, I'll make it happen. I promise you this now.
Sadly, it feels like Ippo's and Kumi's relationship will end the same way Kamogawa's did with Yuki, minus radiation poisoning.
Just replace Nekota getting punch-drunk with Sendo getting brain-damage after challenging Ricardo Martinez and getting destroyed.
>I'm just sad that Genji literally sacrificed his boxing career to take Anderson down a few pegs.
It probably had to do with them being born in the wrong time period. Boxing in Japan at the time was only known as prize fighting while America only had it's advancements. So he might not have had much of a future in it anyways.
This arc though, man. I haven't been on the edge reading something in a while. Plus the fact that all three original VA's (Nekota, Kamogawa and Dankichi) died recently will only make things more emotional.
>Sadly, it feels like Ippo's and Kumi's relationship will end the same way Kamogawa's did with Yuki, minus radiation poisoning.
I don't think my heart could handle an ending like that...not again.
THEY ARE GOING TO ANIMATE THE BEST FLASHBACK EVER?!
>tfw can't even open these to reread
I'll be saving my tears for the OVA this time.
hmmm will they cover it properly with only 4 episodes?
Fucking Nekota and Kamogawa.
It's these two pages that always get me. I just can't..
I swear to god, they better not fuck up the adaptation of the Post-War arc. If not for how amazing it already was, but given it's being animated now as a tribute to Kenji Utsumi and Ichirou Nagai. With only four episode, tacked on the end of Rising I have my doubts, but then I want to be hopeful since they had the good sense to get Nishimura back to direct this.
>tfw you'll never have nippon damashi
>yfw you are a faggot.
nippon damashi is just being a stubborn motherfucker.
Just spergin here but i thought it was "yamato damashi", am i making a shamefur dispray?
yeah, too bad season 3 is so shit
you are right
>rereading ippo because it's fun
>get to the Gonzalez fight
>realise I'm on chapter 140
>last I checked it was on 139
Finally... The translations.
Is this from the 3rd season? I haven't watched anime at all ,only read the manga but I would like to see this animated.
Oh really? I haven't even been checking cause I just figured it would never happen. They just wanted to let the Raws catch up?
Even 1041's been translated, aren't we lucky.
I'm still waiting for Itagaki to turn heel and challenge Ippo. It'll never happen.
That fucking Forehead. Goddamit George, that fucking backtracking.
So we can all agree that season 1 of the Ippo anime is among the greatest anime ever, and that the manga was also top tier before that shitty arc involving all those faggot asian champs?
Is the woli fight over yet? Can I go back to reading it?
Woli fight has been done for a while now anon... It's sort of safe again...
Admit it, you laughed along with Miyata when that happened.
nevermind, I just realized that 1042 is out too.
The training and fillers are much more interesting than the fights themselves which are typical power level Dragon Ball Z gruntfests that take more episodes than necessary.
Prince of Tennis is pretty much the same.
Ah, yes. The fight that proves that Japan really won WW2.
Itagaki is the best
Oh man, I actually shed tears when Nekota punched Kamogawa.
I can't wait to shed them all over again.
