Is Kill La Kill worth a watch?
no, not really
At this point I'd wait to see whether they fuck up the ending.
Senketsu is moe
If you like a short and generic battle shonen then yeah. I like it.
If you watch it for the story, characters and such, then no.
Best anime of the season.
So far so good
If you like a generic battle shonen then yeah. I like it.
If you want a good story, characters and such then no.
Only if you like cute girls doing cute things.
Dont listen to /a/.
It's been Anime of the Season twice now.
It's a decent watch, but the fanbase is complete shit.
fuck I thought the first one didnt post
I miss the 3 days of constant Ryūko edits, that was a lot of fun.
Yeah I think Ryuko is a really good character.
Honestly, yes. It's got a charming old-timey look to it, and a great OST. It's pure fun to watch (not funny, per se, but full of energy and supersonic pacing that keeps it from idling too much [except episodes 4, 8 and 13]). The characters are usually fun too.
If nothing else, watch it because everyone else is, so you have an idea of what everyone else is talking about/shitting on. It's no AOTY, but it was the standout last year for sure.
Also, Giant Title labels are kinda cool, and noticeably missing in most modern anime.
So basically if I appreciate anything that qualifies an anime as being good I shouldn't watch it? Sounds like a pretty bad show.
Seriously though, KLK is a lot of fun.
Yeah it's seems alot of animes are super serious, it's nice to have a break
No, it really isn't. It's a horribly generic example of shounen tropes being shoehorned into a setting that is over-the-top for no reason other than to be "unique," complete with bad animation, shitty characters, and a plot so slow it makes Dragon Ball Z look fast-paced.
>that keeps it from idling too much
Shame it does exactly that with the plot.
You don't actually watch it, do you?
If this ran at the pace of DBZ, the collecting Senketsu episode would have been a 26 episode arc that involved one nameless lackey kill an episode.
I've watched every episode. The plot hasn't moved at all since episode 3.
>Ryouko defeats Elite 4
They get their uniforms back and come back stronger, plot doesn't move.
>Ryouko fights and ties with Sakatsuki in episode 3
Exactly what happened yet again an episode or two ago.
Obviously I was exaggerating but we've waited a dozen episode for nothing but Sakatsuki turning on her mom to happen.
IRC pls go
>plot hasn't moved at all since episode 3.
This is bait right? It's bait.
Absolutely. Kill la Kill is a great ride, and if I may says so...you really want to start watching it now OP.
Participating in the threads; all the shitposting, trolling, character wars, and speculation they bring, is really enjoyable.
Please start watching it now so you can participate too. We have eight or so weeks left so there is plenty of time.
Elite 4 were defeated only to come back.
Ryouko and Sakatsuki fought only to tie, yet again, a dozen episodes later.
Nudist Beach finally mobilizes, only to get destroyed in the same episode, leaving them at exactly the same point they were before it, with only two members being active.
Aside from Sakatsuki turning on her mom, absolutely nothing has happened the last dozen episodes. Even if it picks up after this, that's still half of the show that's basically pointless.
It's character progression, both Ryuko and her relationship with Senketsu. She doesn't tie with Satsuki in episode 3, she was on her knees, whereas the rematch Satsuki is the one on her knees, and half dead the scene afterward.
Utena must have been true hell on someone like you.
I dunno, do you want to find out who kill your dad?
I honestly don't get the hype
And i'm not trying to be an anime hipster, I like all sorts of pubbie shit along with more obscure stuff
But this seems really average, and i have a hard time bringing myself to download each new episode
Ryouko is a blatant Rukia clone.
by this logic you could be earning a degree in college, be abducted by aliens on the preface that they believe you are the "chosen one," help them save their race by piloting giant robots, and then be ported back to your everyday life going back to earning a degree.
Just because you're in the same place as where you started doesn't mean nothing has happened.
Character progression and plot progression aren't mutually exclusive, and KlK' character progression is nothing to write home about in the first place. If you want an example of good character progression from another popular show, look at FLCL. 6 episodes to show far more character and plot progression, while also breaking the mold far more than KlK has done in 14.
Yes it is the Evangelion of anime
with kill la kill anime is saved
Just watch a couple of episodes and then decide if you want to keep watching it. Generally, if you like having fun while watching your anime, you'll like Kill La Kill
If you don't like it, don't watch it.
>and half dead the scene afterward.
That was because of Junketsu, though. If anything it actually kind of undermined what Ryuko just did.
>Is [insert anime here] worth a watch?
When in doubt, give it the old 3-episode rule
Except for the fact that, in your example, shit actually did happen. Things that mattered. Even if we ignore the fact that, in terms of the overall plot progression, KlK stalled from 3 to 17, what really happened over those episodes? Ryouko got a bit stronger, made better friends with Mako and Senketsu, and that's really about it. It's no better than One Piece for half of the length of the show.
And if it's fucking atrocious, give it one more, because someone might have gotten fired as a result.
Fuck you, Lucky Star's first few episodes are the best part of the show.
How did it undermine it when they're mostly fighting a ideological battle? If anything it reinforced Ryuko's point of view of symbiosis, versus Satsuki's dominating. Ryuko and Senketsu are only tighter than ever, whilst it's the eve of Satsuki's insurrection and she has less control over Junketsu than ever.
It didn't undermine what she said, it undermined what she did.
The way you posted that made it sound like Ryuuko roughed her up but the reason she was on her knees after the battle was because of Junketsu and she was supposedly feeling that while during the fight.
Ideologically yes, it reinforced how Ryuuko is right and Satsuki is wrong and foreshadowed Satsuki's eventual death probably in the next episode or the one after.
Ryuko broke free of Satsuki's game, confronted the killer, introspected over her motives for going after them and what she really wants and on the opposite end Satsuki gained the weapons necessary to confront her mother, and conquered Japan, her and the Devas were all humanized after being introduced as the enemy party.
>her and the Devas were all humanized after being introduced as the enemy party.
and they will now all die.
1) Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto got their shit kicked in.
2) Nudist beach was destroyed
3) Life Fibers are extraterrestrial
4) Satsuki backstabs her mother
to name a few
I liked them all, really, but a lot of people dropped the show following the 3ep rule
She was on her knees because Ryuko knocked her down and point a sword at her throat, the same as Satsuki did to her when they first fought. She was half-dead afterward because Junketsu started going berserk, she didn't lose because of Junketsu, the loss was more severe because of him.
They probably won't. Even if they can't beat Nui, they're probably good to go till the last few episodes. If anyone's dying next week it's Soroi and Ragyo.
Satsuki is weaker than Ryuuko and cannot get stronger and on top of that she's going to lose Junketsu. She is completely irrelevant in the final fights. So are the Devas.
Their only existence right now is to make Nui and Ragyo look good and then probably die because if they lived they would be completely worthless.
The whole point of this arc is to show Ryuuko that only she can accomplish things here, that Satsuki is too weak to do anything. Ragyo won't die until much later in the series when Ryuuko beats her.
Ryuuko MIGHT try to save Satsuki, although honestly if I were a Satsuki fan you'd feel better if she died. She exists right now to put Ryuuko over and make Ragyo and Nui look good and then won't have any point to the show at all afterwards
Ignore the shitposters and /a/ hipsters anon. It's a solid show.
>Ryuko changing her reason for going after Sakatsuki
I'll admit that's one that completely slipped my mind, and does give another dimension to Ryuko's character, but is still very little character development over half of a show for its main character.
>Sakatsuki levels japan
Let's be honest, that has no barring on anything. That was little more than a training arc, giving Sakatsuki what she needed to
>turn on her mother
The only real overall plot progression over the last dozen episodes, it does show that, hopefully, things will pick up after this episode but, still, very little considering it took about 14 episodes to get here.
>nudist beach gets destroyed
Again, completely irrelevant. The only two members that matter are operating just as they have the entire show, and their mobilization and destruction served to do nothing but glamorize Sakatsuki's "training arc."
This really doesn't change anything. Life fibers have been shown to be "other" since the start of the show. Where they came from doesn't matter, and unless it turns into some Anti-spiral shit, it doesn't seem like it will at all, which seems to be where it's going if Sakatsuki and Ragyo remain the main antagonists.
>Character development for Sakatsuki and the Elite 4
One of the few reasons I still watch, this certainly does add a nice, new dimension to the show, but, again, 14 episode for what essentially boils down to a flashback or two for each character is piss poor pacing.
It really isn't unless you care about nothing but action shows, and even then it has some competition this season.
Who has best subs?
I'm not going to argue that it is action heavy, but saying that's all the show is is going a bit far.
Also what competition? Does Samurai flameshito count? cause other than that the only other anime you could possibly be thinking of are /m/ ones.
>plot points, major events, and plot points necessary to build events are unimportant non-progression
I'm having so much trouble understanding how someone like you thinks, it's ridiculous. You must've gotten terrible marks on your papers for school.
CR/Horriblesubs has the best translation
From an honest opinion, not really, but its entertaining enough to keep me watching it weekly.
Its honestly not all what /a/ makes it out to be.
Never forget that the average poster grew up with naruto and bleach as their first TOTALLY AWSOME ANIMES and that most older anons like myslef will tell you how shitty most of taste are
How long have you ACTUALLY been on here?
"average poster" of age 14?
Thank goodness you were here to steer all these naive young souls in the right direction
It's a generic "defeat one villain each episode" shounen.
The first four episodes or so were pretty cool but by episode eight or nine it became a chore.
Meh find something better.
Poor character development was what ruined it for me.
>Giant Title Labels
Oh my god yeah, what the fuck? I want this to catch on in a big way, but I'm not sure KlK is popular enough for that.
It's mindless fun. Most of the time the show knows how crazy/stupid it is, and while it doesn't parody itself, it makes sure to hit every shounen trope and try to make them even more ridiculous.
Why are you asking us? Stick to the three episode rule and make a decision for yourself slut.
While the last part of your post is retarded, I kind of have to agree with you. I find that I'm forcing myself to make time and watch KlK every week, rather than jumping on the opportunity to watch.
It's one of 3-4 shows currently airing that are actually fun to watch.
I was actually an honors student in school but, okay, let me explain it like this:
>plot points, major events, and plot points necessary to build events
The only ones I'm really calling irrelevant are the raid trip, ALIENS, and the destruction of Nudist Beach. As for the raid trip and, consequently, the destruction of Nudist Beach, these could have been completely removed from the story, replaced entirely by a single scene with the sewing club making the Elite 4 new uniforms and nothing would have changed. Honestly, what did the raid trip and Nudist Beach's destruction accomplish in terms of the overall story? Just to make Sakatsuki and her school stronger. It was not necessary for the overall plot at all, anything that would have given her the tools and confidence to turn on her mother would have sufficed, but instead several episodes were devoted to, again, nothing more than a training arc.
As for ALIENS, do you honestly think that reveal is going to change anything? Life Fibers and the whole Ryuko = symbiosis, Sakatsuki = control thing has been going on since the first few episodes. Unless there is some big shift soon, it's going to change nothing in terms of the overall plot. The source of life fibers could have been anything and it would change nothing, because it's obvious the ALIENS reveal is going to not play as big of a role as you seem to think.
I find that hard to believe since you have no idea how to use a comma correctly. That, or the school you went to was so shitty that this kind of fragmented speech was accepted there.
I just watched episode 1 last week on a really advanced non-iPad tablet. It's battle shonen but with female as main character.
Also, did animators for this show really intended KLK to look like 70's style? Seriously though, the coloring and that big red kanjis plastered on screen makes KLK look like anime that was created from the 1970s (and I like it!)
But I do know the definition of ad hominem.
That doesn't matter. If you type like a retard after bragging over the fucking internet that you're an honors student, you should expect people to call you out on your bullshit.
Yeh, but do u no how much of a fag you are?
It wasn't bragging, just answering >>101885057's baseless accusation. Also, it wasn't bullshit. I do have a habit of misusing commas, I admit, but that didn't have a big impact on my grades. Anyway, all of this is unrelated to what this topic is actually about, so feel free to actually answer the points addressed in >>101885520, or resort to more ad hominem if you can't.
Its not amazing. Nothing actually happens intill episode 11 when nui shows up and even after that it falls back into nothing happening with the raid trip shit. It has the illusion of being fast paced but many episodes don't really ad anything major. Still its starting to pick up and get serious.
To be honest i mostly watch it to speculate and talk about it with /a/. Its fun to guess powerlevels, make predictions, shitpost on KLK threads.
Might not be as fun for someone who's entering the party pretty late
damn, Kamuis get all the pussy in this show.
